  1. Find gear that fit you well and is comfortable. I wear "tall" sizes which limits my choices but have found FirstGear makes both well made & the best fitting gear for me. I also have a few pieces of Scorpion gear. Buy the best gear you can afford! I'd rather save up for great gear rather than suffer through owning cheaply made stuff. I also watch the "closeouts" for things I have my eye on. I just got a GREAT deal from MotorcycleGear.com on FirstGears Rainier jacket for $232 shipped . . . normally a $500-$600 jacket. Find and read multiple review on gear that interest you. WebBikeWorld.com has great "real world" reviews . . . MotorcycleGear.com also features tons of photos of the gear they sell. Make sure you have the right gear for the conditions and weather. I have multiple jackets, pants, gloves based on the time of year and weather. I also have touring jackets with layers and liners that I can ride with in changing conditions throughout a riding day. *** Buy Properly Fitting Comfortable Gear *** Buy the BEST gear you can afford *** Buy the right gear for the weather and conditions ***
  2. I've got about 40,000 miles on my Oxtar Infinity's . . . Oxtar is a great italian motorcyle boot manufacturer . . . now branded as TCX in the US market. The Infinity is a tall all leather touring boot . . . water proof . . . and loaded with CE rated armor. the make a few other model too . . . after 4 years and 40,000 miles in heat, rain, cold, and snow they're still like new and comfy enough to wear all day on and off the my Venture & FJR
  3. Always thought the practice was a bit unusual myself . . . considering everyone on the road following you can see & read it . . .
  4. I have it an d use it often. Was a little tricky at first but after fooling around with it a bit found it very easy to use. You can also use HD Trip Planning web site to create a route, save it, and export the GPX file to convert for TomTom use. I have a small laptop that I carry on both my bikes with all my routes and software saved for multi-day travel.
