  1. Wanted to update everyone. We have reserved 46 of the 50 rooms we have blocked off at Chestnut Mountian for the Venturerider.org International rally. We are blocking off another 20 more rooms on Monday when the lady I have been dealing with will be back in. Please if you are planning on going reserve your room. Also wanted to remind you guys that are coming alone you can get a bunkhouse room that has 3 sets of bunkbeds with table chairs and private bath for $40 bucks a night. Would be cheap even for a couple if they are not looking for anything fancy just clean. 3 more months and it will be here.

  2. Here are some pictures of the actual raffle trailer. I have it in my garage and have it all assembled. The place we bought it from said for me to notify them when YOU win it and they will send YOU the Bill of Sale. :thumbsup2:

So let's get in line and buy up some more raffle tickets. See Dingy on this site he is doing a fine job of taking care of it.

PS My wife will be bringing the car to the international rally and the trailer will be loaded on our trailer she is pulling up so it will have never been pulled until YOU win it and pull it home.

    :fingers-crossed-emo

    Thank you from the Committee.

  3. Well (Atlanta) DragonSlayer has dropped the new to us 1st gen and Mike's out getting a feel for the bike and so far loves his new bike. Since a new bike requires pics I have a few for everyone.

Tell Mike congrates from Shirley and me. Now it's time for us to stop by for a ride

  4. been using the tag off a trailer I sold years ago, they keep sending me a renewal every year and I keep renewing it. If I get stopped they would never know that the trailer I am pulling isn't the one stated on the registration. I also use it on several trailers.

  5. I have been riding my 03 venture since I purchased it last November, about 6 months. I enjoy riding it and ride it more than my Vulcan 1500. I have noticed with rides over 150 miles, my Right side of my neck and shoulder get stiff, tight and painful and makes the rest of my miles a battle of wills. My modifications pertaining to my issue were the barons lowering kit ( which was already on the bike prior to purchase) and the butt butler. As a shorter guy , I needed the bike lower and my feet are flat. The bike overall handles fine and it has been carb synced, as serviced with fluids and such etc. I have dropped a considerable amount of money on getting the bike to top level. Recently, I came across a 2012 Vulcan voyager with ABS and 1900 miles. I would have to trade both the venture and the older Vulcan. I am at a tug of war, because I am tempted by the fact the bike is practically brand new, and has ABS and all the bells and whistles. I would have to pay the difference. I love the reliability of my current Vulcan and this venture. However, to keep on riding with the shoulder pain, isn't fun or pleasing. Yes, of course I can get the Flanders bars, but when is it enough? Am I giving up on the bike too soon?

Please don't think I am whining, even though it certainly LOOKS like it. I am trying to decide which is better, 2 older but well taken care of bikes, or trade for the newer bike, and deal w one set of tires, servicing, insurance etc. I am not a rich guy, so I ask all of my breathe ten for the utmost, complete, non biased, subjective opinion . What info know about the kawi is that it is a 1700cc with ABS and 1900 miles. Test drove one a few months back and seemed nice. I am aware the heat output is almost unbearable and other owners wrap there's. no CD player which I like, no butt butler mod. I also have heard complaints about the flimsy bags and trunk doors. I am scheduled to test ride the bike and will see how she shifts. My current Vulcan shifts like no other, smooth, effortless. So....enough of my babbling, tell me whatcha think? Oh, btw...I have not made a definite decision

Ribbing is always welcome, just please have some info as well.

1 1/2 inch risers will help with that

  6. I got my non-running 96 Royal Star this morning. Turn on the ignition and fuel pump clicks so I assume it isn't the kill switch. In fact, if I hit the kill switch the fuel pump quits clicking. Push starter button and have nothing. New battery. Where would you start?

Wow seems just like a couple of weeks ago I had the same problem, kickstand safety switch is where I'd look first.

  7. I'm usually a very loyal individual to my convictions but, In this case I must confess I've made a decision to jump on board the 2nd Gen band wagon. I just picked up the NEW-To-ME 2000 Yamaha XVZ1300 mm Millenium Limited Edition 2nd Gen that I bought from RandyR.

Soon GAwildkat Patricia and her hubby Michael will be the proud new parents of my 87 MKII Yamaha Venture Royale 1st gen

Wow looks alot like mine................hey can I buy the trailer? Or borrow it anytime I want?:thumbsup2:

  8. After further talking to Power Sports Plus and several other Yamaha dealers over the past few months they cannot guarantee I would get the color I need. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I have also been watch ebay, but so far no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can get the color you need, I am not sure why they told you that. I got mine in 9 days.

  9. Yea, I got the bike running again. It was not the $40 relay that I ordered so if anyone needs a Ignition Circuit Cutoff Relay don't order one I have a new one for you.

The problem was the hot wire coming into the back of the fuse box where the ignition fuse is. Was all corroded and broke off.. Just glad it is fixed and I didn't have to take it to a dealer to figure out.:thumbsup2:

  10. My thought exactly but everything runs through the cutoff relay, side stand, kill, & neutral switch, Oil level safety switch and the rollover kill switch,Ignition switch, fuel pump and starter button. Has 12 different wires coming in and out. Hopefully I checked it correctly and if I did i shows no continuity from the starter button to the starter relay. :confused24:

  11. Well If I did the tests correctly as stated in the Clymers manual I have found my problem. It is the starter circuit cutoff relay. Kind of a pain to get to but I hope that is the problem. . Ordered the part and all I can do now is wait for it to show up. Keeping my fingers crossed:scratchchin:

Thanks for all the ideas from everyone, and thanks Jeff for the call.

  12. ...and came home with this.....

    ...

    ...

    ...

    ...

    ...

....continued disbelief at the thinking that must occur in some people's minds to cause them to go from whatever they're riding to something worse!

...a newer bike that isn't smoother.

...a bigger engine that isn't faster.

...signal switches that still aren't on the correct side (I mean, even BMW has seen the light)

It is the same thinking that I figure someone must go through that would cause them to go from a VR to an RSV. But to consider the drugs a brain must be on to go from a VR to a Harley ...well...as I can say is Intervention required big time. Why do people continue to accept less for their dollar? Can these brains ever be rehabilitated? I realize it would cost America thousands of jobs, but still. We don't accept fewer apps when we purchase cell phones or slower CPUs when we buy computers, or shakey video we purchase TVs. Why do people accept this when it comes to motorcycles? It all just boggles my mind.

    But it's a Harley:whistling::confused24:

  13. I've looked around and really didn't find anything related to this, so here goes. Has anyone totally replaced the audio setup on a 2nd Gen? I'm talking removing the whole Yamaha system, CB/receiver/control pod/(even the cassette deck:confused24:)/antenna's? I know some folks have replaced the stereos only. I guess my main question is,,,would there still be any way to wire in the headsets? I realize if you remove the control pod then you'll lose the selection ability. Just doing some "thinking outside the box".

If you do this I would be intersted in buying your old system.:thumbsup2:
