  1. I found a front fairing for my 2010 on FB that looks good but the seller has almost no history, so I am hesitant to send $$ to him... Most of you guys I have more faith in though. Anyone who could help me out by inspecting it for me?
  2. I did a search but didn't find anything, so here goes... Has anyone done a wrap on their bike instead of painting it (or re-painting it)?? After my sudden stop in a ditch, I have a small break on my fairing to repair, Once the cracks are fixed, sanding and painting would be next - or is it? I am considering a wrap and was wondering if any one here has taken that step? Please -share some pics and your experiece with it if you have.
  3. I'll get that checked out. Thanks.
  4. It has been about 2 and a half weeks since I opted to hit the ditch instead of the car that was stopped facing me. My bike is at a local repair shop as the nearest Yamaha dealer is 45 miles away. The mechanic there said that it is good except for a good front end wobble when you take your hands off the bars. With my shattered collarbone, I can't ride it to see just how bad it is, so... can the collective brain power suggest what it may be? I did hit the ditch pretty hard before it threw me off.
  5. What are the fairings (cowling) made out of?? Are they the same ABS of the 1st Gen?
  6. How about adding a smoker for some bbq?
  7. Yeah, I hope it heals up quickly too. The cage driver was pulled over facing traffic so he could 'check the mailbox ' without getting out of the car. He then kept saying 'I just froze!'
  8. It has been just 1 week ago that I confirmed that I don't bounce as well as I used to... Last Monday was a beautiful day for a ride. I used the excuse that I had a Amazon return to take to the UPS store to jump on the bike for a quick 80 mile round trip. Unfortunately, I didn't get to finish the ride. As I was on my way home, I topped a small rise to see a stopped vehicle facing me in my lane (on this country 2 lane). Hard braking was causing a skid and rather than lay it down, I opted to try to avoid on the ditch side. Over a driveway and into the ditch / lawn, the RSV stopped and that is when I discovered that I don't bounce anymore. The ER told me that my left collarbone was broken and a few days later a surgeon left me know it was shattered. So, the road to recovery is before me. It feels like my rib-cage is bruised and a few minor scrapes to go along with the collar bone. Amazingly, the bike did better than me. I'll get it to the bike doctor soon, but it has minor damage.
  9. Good write-up!! Is Larry @Carbon_One still making the install bracket / wiring harness?? How do I get ahold of the bracket / harness?? And, since I have2 Stebel horns to install - do I need 2 kits?
  10. It was about 10 years ago that I sold my last 1st gen. Well, I don't live in crazy town (Las Vegas) anymore and I just brought home my new to me '10 RSV. I now live in southwestern Kentucky and bought it from a friend and former colleague in Charlotte, NC. So, what do you do when you haven't ridden in 10 years and have never ridden a 2nd Gen? You fly in and ride it home. 591.5 miles and a sore ass later it is in my garage, at home. Does anyone gave stock pipes in good condition they would like to trade for these?
  11. Did you ever locate one? I am picking up a 2010 RSV soon and want to get a light bar / bracket as well.
  12. What's the difference between a hippo and a zippo? One is really, really heavy. The other is a little lighter.
  13. Have any of the advice givers eve been to Jamaica? I've been there 5 times and it is one of my favorite places. Now granted, I have not been there for a few years - but I have always ventured off the beaten path. The people of Jamaica are the kindest warmest folks ever (and yes some will try to sell you things including ganja) but the further into town and away from the resorts and tourist spots you get the less and less there is of that. Now... for things to do - if you want to test your haggling skills go to the 'straw market' but not when the cruise ships are in port... there are NO deals when the ships are in. Dunns River Falls is fun - and cold as mentioned above. Fern Gully - is a beautiful drive thru a rain forest. River Rafting - a lazy drift down a river on a pole raft with a river guide. A long drive to the east end of the island will take you to the 'wickedest city in the world' of pirate days near Port Antonio. The west tip of the island is Negril - where no building can be taller than the tallest tree. Hedonism, Rick's Cafe, and cliff diving (broke my ribs doing that). Take a tour of the rum distilleries or into the mountains and see the coffee plantations. Or, just sit on the beach and soak up the sun and have servers bring you rum punch and Red Stripe. Irie.
  14. Or you could buy one or both of mine. I've got a freshly painted 87 and a 86 that needs paint. I haven't ridden in better than a year and don't see it in the upcoming future. Call me at 702-232-1613 for more info or details. Scott
  15. I have 2 1st Gens for sale with all the extra accessories and parts in my garage... make me an offer. Scott
  16. Wait until it comes out and you can rent one for a week at the Avis/Hertz/Budget/Enterprise...then decide.
  17. Last fall I posted here that I was selling my bikes, but then came fall - winter and , well , you know how it goes... We park the Jeep in the driveway (because the garage is filled by 2 1st Gen bikes) and this week the Jeep was broken into and everything was rifled thru. It turns out that many of the cars on the block were broken into as well. Since I travel for my job and my wonderful wife is home alone - she is a bit upset (to say the least). Now the bikes really have to go. Make a serious reasonable offer and take them home with you. I'm in Winnipeg MB right now, but when I get home this weekend I'll post pics (after going to buy and install a motion sensor security light).
  18. I travel coast to coast and have never had an issue with Verizon's service... I was gonna wait for the Iphone to come to Verizon, but had been keeping an eye on the Galaxy S by Samsung. I feel it has advantages over the Iphone because it is not as proprietary as the iphone. If I need a battery... I can replace it (or have a spare). If I want or need more memory, I can buy a Micro SD memory card and upgrade it (it comes with a 16 gig card and can be upgraded to a 32 gig card). I also can choose from a slew of different apps for it (more apps now for Android than for Iphones) and if I don't like i-tunes (which I don't) I can select some other player. It has a Kindle App if I want to use it as a e-reader and the picture (for videos) is the best I have seen on anything. and I looked at alot of them before I pulled the trigger. just my worth
  19. I just got the Samsung Galaxy (Fascinate) on Verizon. I travel all over the country for work and Verizon has the best network... and the Galaxy phone is alot like the I-Phone... more apps, better carrier and Android based.
  20. Well, I hate to do it, but I am letting my bikes go. I travel 5 days a week x 48 weeks a year now for work and haven't been on the bike for - well... way too long. I have an 86 Venture Royal that is in need of a paint job (replaced body parts with donors of other colors) and an 87 Venture Royal which I found neglected and brought in to revive and get it back on the road. The 87 has now had the carbs rebuilt and been repainted a beautiful pure white and I have been slowly putting it back together. (It takes a lot longer to do these things when you are only home a couple days a week.) I am sure I will get another bike in the future but it will be something I don't have to work on and all I need to do is ride it. So... if any of you know someone looking for a couple of 1st Gens, let me know. I know it doesn't count if I don't have pics, but I will get them on here soon.
  21. Thank you for that...
  22. There is a link within the article that takes you to the site for these helmets... I can't read whatever language it is, but there are some other pics of some even more interesting designs.
  23. Here is something different... http://gizmodo.com/5595600/because-wearing-a-helmet-was-never-fun
