  1. I watched both videos and did not see any flex in the main track at all. The trailer is a bit pricey. Again this is just like the tag alongs some of us have behind our bikes. Some use the HF trailers with car top carriers. Some like myself prefer to spend the extra money and get a nicer trailer. Too each their own. The utility trailers from Lowes and other places are multi use. But as some have stated not long enough for a RSV and have to be loaded on an angle. I would not want to have to do this with a 900 plus pound bike. A 200 pound dirt bike...ok, but not a bagger. You can buy something cheaper, that is not design specific and deal with the "work arounds" or you can buy one design specific and it functions as it was intended with no "work arounds". Example is the HF trailers. Not designed to be pulled by motorcycles. No storage compartment. Guys are modifying the tongue length, adding carriers for storage and such. Do you save money? Yes and no. I know my time is working on projects like this is what I make at my job on overtime. Factor that in and the aggravation of the constant "work arounds" every single time you use it. And you are not saving money. You are causing yourself grief.
  2. I would like a trike every once in awhile. Not full time. Maybe ad it to the stable. I know when I ride to work it is not a problem. No traffic. But on the way home.......I usually end up duck walking the bike atleast 8 miles. Traffic is worse now because of the I-96/US-23 interchange construction. It would be nice to just sit back and roll along not having to keep the bike up. I have looked at getting another RSV already converted to the Hannigan. I know if the Harley Tri-Glide I rented in SD would have been an independent rear susupension, it probably would have been bought and rode home.
  3. No comparison of styling between a Goldwing and a Roadmaster. Go with the Roadmaster. Everybody and their brother has a wing. Just no style in those things. But if you like to ride Tupperware..........Wing it.
  4. I saw the news report. He lives in a beat up single wide. Doubt he has anything of worth. I do hope they get something out of it though, even though the rider is partially to blame.
  5. The zip tie is small enough to just twist the key and the tie will break.
  6. No we won't and I can guarantee we will never meet up for a ride. Obviously you think it is ok to ride like an idiot and I do not. So be it.
  7. Are you on drugs? No seriously...are you on drugs? No passing zone is just that. No passing. Not no passing unless there is no traffic. The rider did an illegal pass. He was wrong. The driver tried to kill him. He was wrong. The driver should go to prison. The rider should be ticketed and loose his endorsement for 6 months. VenturousRandy.....to answer you question. Honestly, no, I never pass illegally in a car or a bike. I just won't do it. An I a perfect rider or driver? Nope not at all, but I will not deliberately put myself or my passenger in danger by maki g an illegal pass. Nor do I split lanes or ride the shoulder in heavy traffic. I just do not do it.
  8. Whether you have the fob or a regular key, you should keep a spare. I have a spare key zip tied on my bike. Nobody would ever guess where, but I can access it with in 5 minutes. Hate to get someplace and find out I lost my bike key. Try and get one of THOSE on a Sunday!!
  9. Ok, the guy did do it deliberately. That is quite obvious. He did not get bit by a spider like he said. Horse hockey! BUT........the guy on the bike is just as much at fault. He put not only himself BUT HIS PASSENGER in harms way BY ILLEGALLY PASSING THE GUY IN A NO PASSING ZONE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Does this make it ok for the old fart to do what he did? ABSOLUTELY NOT, but not only should said old fart see some jail time, but the guy on the bike should 1. Loose his motorcycle endorsement AND 2. his passenger should file a lawsuit on him for putting her life in danger and causing her to almost die and multiple surgeries she has to face. What happened is a two way street. Had the idiot on the bike not put himself in that position, this never would have happened.
  10. Well what do you expect from a craigslist ad? Pretty much the only thing that service is good for is getting ripped off or for finding prostitutes. Did you call them and ask why they are re-running the ad? Have you flagged the posting? If I were to buy a bike off of an online listing, it would and has been Ebay. They monitor those ads and sellers pretty good. I had an issue awhile back, it was taken care of no problem. Stay away from craigslist and harbor freight and life will be good.
  11. Ok, I am replacing the steering head bearings on my Second Gen and while it is torn down, I want to replace the fork oil. I read the write up in the tech library, but I thought you needed a special pump to air up the fork. Wh o did this and how did you do it?
  12. Problem is that just because it is a chain motel does not make it a good motel. A lot of the motels are being bought by Indians. Dot Indians, not how Indians. They come from a filthy country and that is how they run their establishments. Sorry to be blunt, not trying to sound like an a$$, but it is true. But then again, we stayed in a motel in Murdo Nevada owned by an American couple......the place was NOTHING like their website. Let's just say, glad I had my .40 cal.
  13. I have a 9" shorty smoked on my 07 RSV. My wife says she does not get any buffering. Rode that bike from Michigan to Colorado, down into Georgia and not one complaint. Then again, my brother inlaw had an o6 Midnight with a taller windshield and her sister complained constantly, even when he went to a 17". But then again, she complains about EVERYTHING! If she sits higher than you and actually islover your head, she maybe getting wind.
  14. Chrysler is better than any GM product. But I only by non union made rice burners. Much better quality when you get the.........Useless.......American.......Worker out of the picture.
  15. Do not giveaway the old pump!!! Buy a new one from Dennis Kirk or off of Ebay. You can replace the points if your so inclined and put the repaired pump in your saddle bag. Cheap insurance.
  16. I just do not see a flickering light killing a battery that quickly. When I tested my regulator/rectifier it did not let voltage pass. I accidently dropped it when I was putting it back in (I wanted to recheck it with the bike running) and it started working. There are no moving parts inside, all solid state components, but that told me that something inside was starting to go. I think your issues maybe deeper. I hope I am wrong, but I got that fuzzy feeling.
  17. First off, do not jump the battery. All you gotta do is have somebody push the bike with you on it and pop the clutch while in 1st gear. You should only need to go about 10 feet. I had the same issue. Found out it was the regulator/rectifier. Tested the stator and it put out plenty of volts, tested the regular/rectifier and the circuit was closed when it was supposed to be open. What does that mean? Means the juice stops there and does not go to the battery so all of your accessories, lights, etc are running off of the battery. You need to check out the entire charging system. I would bet if you just replace the battery again, you will end up in the same boat.
  18. Oh.....I am sure he was............
  19. Ypsitucky is in my backyard...practically. Actually the HF I bought the lift from is in Ypsilanti. Money is tight right now, but had I seen this when I bought my HF POS, I would have got it instead.
  20. Well they are sending me a prepaid shipping label. Once I receive that, they want me to box it up and send it back using the label. Once they receive it, they will "special order" another pump and send it to me. So another 14-16 weeks. First they suggested I take it to a "hydraulic repair specialist" for repair on my dime. I let them know what I thought of that idea. So they offered to do a free exchange. Undecided what to do at this point.
  21. I could change to a different pump if I redesign the whole unit. The pump is actually welded to the pivot point, so just bolting on a different pump is not an option. Iam not going to invest anymore time or money into this P.O.S. It just needs to be gone at this point. Completely disgusted with it. It really ticks me seeing it sitting in my garage. Waiting on a reply from HF.
  22. As some of you know, I have an issue with my 1000 lb lift I bought. Pump lasted for 3 uses. Well after many emails and waiting 14 weeks for a new pump, it arrived a last week. I installed it yesterday. Made sure it had plenty of oil, bled the air out per their instructions and it lifted the bike. ONCE. dropped it down, tried lifting it again and no way, no how, uh uh, not gonna happen. I emailed them requesting an authorization for a refund at my local store. Done with their half baked crap quality stuff. I will never shop there again.
  23. Row boat from China.
  24. Yes sir, came home from work today and there was a box on the porch from harbor freight. The replacement pump for my lift came in. It only took 14 weeks, not to shabby. Going to put it in Friday night after work. Hopefully it lasts more than 2 uses. Going to tear the old one down and see if I can get new seals......NOT FROM HARBOR FRIEGHT.
