  1. You and I are in the same boat my friend. I changed my clutch last week and I'm still fighting clunky shifting. I'm finding that getting all of the little bubbles out of the clutch hydraulics is a multi day process that takes a butt load of patience. I'm starting to think that since our bikes are 30 years old, maybe with the new heavier spring it's making out rubber clutch cable under the motor to swell? I don't know about you, but mine is always covered in oil. Good luck my friend! I'll be following this post for sure

  3. All you need in Nebraska is a handgun purchase permit. I've never bought one, but in Nebraska if you're given a handgun as a gift, you don't need to have the purchase permit. You'd only need a conceal permit if you intend to conceal it. One of the good things about livin in the midwest
  4. Hey YPE! I've been reading your patiently not so patient waiting for your venture! Absolutely beautiful bike, they look even more delicious in person! I'm waiting on the edge of my seat to hear your review of it! VERY solid feel and amazing build quality on that there yam! If I had money I'd buy both!
  5. Hey guys! Stopped at the local dealer today while killing some time. They already had the cherry SVTC sold and had a charcoal grey one sitting right next to the new 7 speed wing. The floor guy Jeff come out and was showing me all the bells and whistles on it. I sat on it and I must say I really concur with the people who say the front suspension is too soft. Just pushing down on the bars makes it sag significantly and I felt just the little hopping up and down I did really made that front suspension move. I told Jeff that many people have been complaining about the new wings suspension, though the look on hisface showed he didn't believe me. Him and I both agree thick, that Honda isn't hunting the BMW, they're hunting the people like me. The people who want the sport and comfort. The new GW felt way lighter than the SVTC though on the Wing, I didn't see any place for highway pegs. I think the Venture is going to be the more comfortable bike, but if I had 30k in hand, I'd probably lean towards the wing, at least from whay I saw on the dealership floor.
  6. Okay so here's where I'm at now basically. After taking the clutch apart two more times, I found out that that Hollow nut needs to go where the hollow part is towards the inside of the motorcycle or else the inner basket can move in and out. It doesn't sit tight I had it right the first time but I took it apart and switch it out to try it. After that I bled the piss out of the slave cylinder and I still think I must have just a tiny bit of air in there because it's still a little hard to shift and hard to put in neutral it's not nearly as hard to hold in one place but I must still have some tiny microscopic bubbles of air in there. I appreciate all the help!

  8. Alright, so I've got the new slave in. Bled it and it is better, though it still tries to roll while in gear. Not as bad, but you can hear it labor the motor as well. I think I'm going to let it sit overnight and let the remaining air bubbles sort of settle down and hopefully form into less, but bigger air bubbles and first thing tomorrow I'll try to as gently as I can, re bleed the clutch. I read that the reason skydoc replaces the half friction disc, wire and shims is to reduce the friction zone of the clutch. Had I known that before I installed the clutch, I certainly wouldn't have done that mod, and sprung on the half friction disc and new retainer wire. If this doesn't do it then I guess I'm tearing into the clutch to see if I've got something stuck between one of the clutch plates or friction discs. This is kind of disheartening as its 80 today

  14. I pulled the slave out and messed with it some because I rebuilt that last fall and it always seemed like I had a touch of air in it. I put a little hand pressure on it and pulled in the clutch lever and noticed the slave leaks slightly under pressure, so I'm assuming there's the culprit. I imagine with the old, weak spring, and the noticeably thinner friction plates from being worn, I could put it in gear and it wouldn't roll. I mean I could maybe, just barely, barley notice it before but With all the new stuff in it, Its just not quite clearing it. Got one ordered in from boats.net and I'll let you guys know if this solves it for me!
  15. Well I did have to pull #20 out, but it only goes back in one way, and I never took a ball out or noticed one drop out. Are they magnetic? I wonder if I can stick a magnet in there to see if maybe the ball fell out?
  16. @Condor when you say ride are you talking about the pushrods? I had the short pusherod out and all I saw was a single piece with an O-ring on one end. But I do remember being confused on which way to put that big nut back on! Are you online now?
  17. Hey guys, just did the skydoc clutch upgrade and removed the clutch basket to replace the shift roller, but I rounded out its screw and it was in good shape so I left it. I've got everything back together, and now the bike tries to roll in gear. I can hold it with my feet, but its making shifting harder and theres no way to put it in neutral with the engine running. I tried bleeding out the clutch but nothing, it seems like I'm just a touch short on my leverage. I rebuilt my slave cylinder last fall and thinking maybe theres a little crud stuck between it and the case, but I don't know! Any chance for some help please?

  21. Hey @cowpuc if i set the multimeter to AC volts and test the battery i shoulDNT GET ANYTHING RIGHT? its showing 12.7

  23. Hey guys! Getting my buddy into riding and we picked him up a $300 GS750L that had the tank rusted through and hadden been run or ridden in years. We got a new tank for it and with a little bit of seafoam actually have it running wonderfully! When he first got it the turn signals worked slowly, but then one day one of em flashed real bright and they haven't worked since. No flash no noise nothing. I don't know anything about those old school blinkers, but I'm sure a few of you guys have a good idea how to trouble shoot them. Where should I start? All the bulbs and fuses are good
