    Why?

Why did we stop writing "As The Wheels Turn???"
  2. Jonas, I think the U.S. term is "Like flies on $hit..."
  3. Thanks for that info!! I just may spring for one and see how it works out! Any better MPG or am I asking for too much out of the unit...
  4. Unfortunately the Venture is just plain a tall bike. Try the suggestions above. You could try a slightly smaller rear tire but I doubt you would gain more than 1/4 inch there. You can try removing some of the padding from the seat, lower air pressure in front as well as the rear...
  5. First thing that comes to mind, when was the last time the cooling system was flushed? Second, if the present owner had to install a manual fan switch then obviously the stock switch is defective (thermostat type). There used to be a lower temperature switch setup that I saw occasionally on ebay. Also, the stock radiator is 27 years old and probably plugged up especially if the cooling system was not flushed on a regular basis, like every 4 years or something like that. You can buy a brand new aluminum radiator for the Venture for around $200. When you flush out your system, just make sure you are using products compatible with aluminum. Lastly, if your carbs are out of sync that will make the engine run hotter than normal. Syncing your carbs should be an annual event... PS replace your thermostat!
  6. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Dooder!!!
  7. Carl, are you saying "No brain, no pain???"
  8. OK press the horn button and the pin that did not have 12 volts should now have 12 volts, and one of the pins that HAD 12 volts will now have zero...

    Why?

WHY do you think it is useless???
  10. There are MANY Brothers in Christ here!!!
  11. Phew!!! I thought it may have been a nightmare where you actually left Ventureriders...
  12. If you ride a Venture it is a heavy touring bike so yes you need stronger tires unless you don't mind changing tires every few thousand miles. The term "penny wise, dollar foolish" comes to mind...
  13. Welcome aboard Money Venture!!!
  14. I put my Craftsman 19v electric drill on the brake pedal to check the rear. For the front I use a thick rubber band, a piece of wire, or whatever I can find. Actually all you need is a mirror or back near a window and do it in the evening...
  15. Get a dart board. Put all of the tire names on the dart board. Aim a dart at the board. Close eyes and throw dart. Buy whatever brand the dart lands on! My personal choice is Dunlop E-3...
  16. No, front works whether or not you have a rear horn at all. You probably lost ground to the horn. You should have 2 terminals on ther horn, a + and a -. The + gets the wire from the relay, and the - gets a ground. Try hooking the 2 wires from the air horn to the OEM horn with the relay circuit hooked up. If the OEM beeps your air horn is kaputz...
  17. Well then that makes more sense...
  18. I sure would NOT spend the time playing with jelly beans...
  19. Hey, they all waited for him...
  20. Yup!! All through his singing I heard the music as well!!! No, I did not imagine raisins doing the hand jive...
  21. Yes it will click, so look for both 12 volts coming in, AND 12 volts coming out when the horn button is pressed. Relays have been known to go bad, make sure the relay you used is rated for at least 30 amps...
  22. Go wash your mouth out with soap!!!
  23. Good! As I said to Godlover, this isn't just a website, it"s FAMILY!!!
  24. Yup, my guess as well! A new clutch slave isn't real expensive, but there is quite a trick to getting it out and back in. The only problem is the slave is on the LEFT side same as the clutch lever, but if it was setting on the side stand the fluid may have traveled across the bottom of the engine. You're just going to crawl under and do some investigating. Now, as far as the rear wheel turning while in gear, I assume you mean with the engine NOT running? That being the case then you have problems! does it turn the same as neutral or is there any additional resistance? Try it with the engine running and run it through the gears...
