  1. Just checked my post on the calendar for this M&E and I see that I originally posted as a maybe for two (Anne and myself). My plan continues to be to take in the Supershow that afternoon and then head to the meet. Looking forward to getting together with all those who can make it.
  2. Yes, Bob, it sure does look like a younger Marcarl to me also, but I'm pretty sure that is not Marca with him.
  3. --- and another Merry Christmas to all from us here in Toronto. Evan and Anne
  4. In browsing through a motorcycle catalogue, I saw listings for "antigravity lithium small case format" batteries. Checked out their website at http://antigravitybatteries.com/ytx12-20/ for a Venture Royale. While very expensive, it does look like a very powerful (600 cranking amp) light weight and long life battery. Does anyone know about these batteries for our 1st gen bikes? Wonder how do these compare in performance to a Deka battery, which costs much less?
  5. Sure envy you guys with good riding weather in your areas. We have snow on the ground here and the forecast calls for freezing rain for the next few days. Not good for riding!
  6. Thomas, the January show can be viewed at http://www.supershowevent.com.
  7. Jim, I think you will find a very good video on that web site. The bond is strongest if you use a dremel or something like that to score the back side of the joint. If you use clear tape on the good side of the joint, you will keep that side clean. You can sand and even paint the finished joint if you wish, and it is normally as strong or stronger than original.
  8. I know you will get many good suggestions from others. For me, Plastex worked extremely well.
  9. Thanks Bob. The video touches the heart.
  10. Sure enjoyed reading your post.
  11. Good luck Gary. Sure hope your interview goes so well that you are back on another Venture soon.
  12. By the time you are able to read all of these posts Tom, I hope you are able to enjoy them. Want to add my own best wishes for successful surgery and a speedy recovery.
  13. Love you Don but IMHO, this is a fair comment. Seems to me that one of our challenges is to help new members become aware of the amazing amount of both member provided technical write ups and offers like Condor's. That does not mean that independent vendor offers should not be included.
  14. Jack, I am a proud owner one of your superbraces on my 88 and there was one already installed on the 86 that I bought from Swifty. More than that, you have my great respect for all that you have done to make this a better forum. I think that members like you who contribute like you do deserve more recognition. I suspect many of the newer members are less aware of what members like you have contributed.
  15. Carl, do you think he is one of us?

    Why

OK, I'll bite on this one. I live in the heart of downtown Toronto, which is now the 4th largest city on North America. Nobody in my family, including myself, ever thought I would move to this city, let alone survive here. If not for my second wife, I would never have moved here. Now, my challenge is to describe to others why I think I am such a lucky guy to be here. It does feel good inside when I arrive at my cabin on the lake but it feels equally good in a different way when I arrive back here in Toronto.
  17. Just watching this video left me out of breath with my knees shaking, even more than a good ride on my 1st gen.

    I found...

What a wonderful story. Hope it has many more good chapters.
  19. Got a call from my wife who had car problems on the road today about 100 miles from home. It happened to be usually warm today, up into the 50's, but will be back below freezing tomorrow. Jumped on my bike and had a great ride to help my stranded wife, which also worked out. Anyone else have a "silver lining" experience today?
  20. I once wanted to comfort a friend whose daughter was killed by a drunk driver. I remember telling him that I didn't know what to say and his response was that just being there to comfort him was the best words.
  21. Just posted on the calendar as a maybe for Anne and I. Will do my best to make it Ben but can't say yes for sure right now.
  22. Rode a bit here in Toronto (Ford Country *#*) yesterday. Today I just went down to where I park the bike in our underground parking area and had a look. Also tried out the Yamaha Venture accessory travel bags (with the Venture logo) that I just found on Kijiji. They fit like a glove inside the saddlebags. In addition, I mounted one of the LED running lights on the shock just below the fairing. Love it mounted there with the shock mount hardware that came with the lights. Will post some pictures as soon as possible.

    WOW!!!

Never seen any riding like that before. Notice that the bike stands up on it's own (at the end). Wonder how?
  24. Would sure like to join you and Earle and others that can make it but for now, Wayne, will have to be a maybe, as we may have the grandkids come visit us that weekend.
  25. Fabulous. A real heart warmer.
