  1. Yes, it is the cover that goes over the spring. Which direction does it sit over the spring?
  2. Thanks ol' Puc! The little retaining disc, does the indent face up or down, and which way does the spring sit?
  3. I'm having issues with the lock on the left hand saddlebag. It wouldn't unlock, and after taking the bag off the bike I was able to open the case. I found the lock spring had sprung and the end of the spring was sticking out of the retention plate (disc). Because I had it apart, I took everything out, cleaned and lubed it and put it back. Now It was working great on the bench, but, when I put it back on the bike, I was back at square 1. The key turns from set to lock and back, then only half way to open. I'm pretty sure the spring has slipped out of place again. How should the spring sit in the lock? I was thinking I might have it upside down, or backwards or something. Does the tail that fits into the housing go on the bottom, or the piece that fits into the lock go on the bottom. Which way does the retention plate sit? I took the other saddlebag lock out and they are both look the same to me. Need to get this sorted out BEFORE heading out to Venture West in a couple of weeks.
  4. I had the same problem when I tried to repaint a couple of parts. I blamed the problem on the fact I was painting with Lacquer over enamel, and, the temperature wasn't the best for painting. I ended up removing all the original and starting from bare plastic.
  5. Sorry Kevin, this machine only cuts metal, not plastic! Wrong shop!
  6. Once the image is uploaded to the later cutter, using nitrogen to create a super fine plasma cutter, the cutting head then follows a set path to cut out the pieces. There are sparks created, but not enough heat to warp the 24 gauge stainless sheet, and you can touch it with bare hands right away. I'm not sure how thick our later will cut, I've seen it cut material 1/16" thick. we only work with material up to 11 gauge mild steel, which is just under 1/8" thick.
  7. Last week I had a chance to play with the Lazer at work. This is the result of an idea I have been kicking around awhile. This is my (practice set?) I still have to polish them out t home, as I was told it was too fine to do at work. I'm still working on placement of the bends so the image is centered. I'm also still trying to decide on a design for the radiator grill guard.
  8. In all the years I've going to sea, it was always powered by dead dinosaurs. Only once did I go powered by God. Everyone started laughing when they shut the engine down and I jumped. When engines die it's an emergency! I definitely would like to learn to sail though, one of these days.
  9. But when goes, you'll be set to enjoy that new bike! It looks great.
  10. For hanging in there, with me for the past 34 years! It has been a heck of a ride, and I'm looking forward to the next 34. Even though she found my bike for me, she won't ride it. I love her as much today, as I did on the day i said "I DO"
  11. If I could quite procrastinating, I'd be out riding. It was about 58* F here on the island.
  12. 1984 Royale, JYA41W006EA000695, 121044KM (75213 mi), Ruby Red/Romanesque Crimson, build date 11/83. PM sent.
  13. Those look to be Baron's 4-2-4 Nasty Boy exhaust with Deep Slash tips.
  14. Updated/entered mine today. Thought I did it wrong, my balloon is a different colour, but I now know that is normal.
  15. I saw on the news it dropped to $1.03/litre, or $3.90 a gallon here in Victoria earlier this week. We are for the most part around $1.14/litre, 4.32/gal.
  16. Thank you for all the responses, I am definitely buying the diesel oil. I noticed they sell it at Costco.
  17. If I can lose that procrastinating monkey off my back, I plan on upgrading the fuse block, and replace coolant hoses, and if things go well fabricate some dress-up items.
  18. I have read several threads where people are using Shell Rotella T 15W-40 diesel oil. Is all oil the same? Would Castrol Diesel 15W-40 be the same? I don't want to damage anything, but am tired of buying the expensive oil from the dealer. Thanks for any and all advice.
  19. Pbjman, we have a security person at the gate to the dive school that greets you every morning in that same manner. It's refreshing to start your work day with such a greeting. Happy Tuesday!
  20. Don, I like the new look. My bookmarks didn't work either, but typed in venturerider.org and it brought me here. I tried to reply to a post and I didn't have permission to post until I noticed I wasn't logged in. Once logged in everything worked fine. Thanks for all you hard work.
  21. Sorry for your loss Puc. I know the pain of losing a loved one. I'm glad you and your family were able to be there to say goodbye. My thoughts and prayers go out for you and your family at this time.
  22. So, being the impatient sort, I need to ask. Did you get the panhead? What did it go for?
  23. Welcome, as has been said many times, this IS the best place to learn about your bike. I love the colour. Maybe one day.
