I wouldn't normally ask.

I know how you feel Snyper. Went thru the same thing with my youngest son... There's just so much a parent can do. Just don't go on a guilt trip because nothing worked. Let go..Let God.... -
Yep.. Chicken Lips and BIG buck$.. I'd suggest finding a used OEM collector on eBay. Haven't been looking for that kind of stuff lately, but there's enough salvers out there, and the bike it old enough, that there's got to be a couple collectors laying around out there somewhere?? MOF I bet @cowpuc might have an extra??

OK, the bike is not an '84..... The '84's were the only year that had a rotating choke lever in front of the left grip. This one has the choke slide. Probably an early '83 or '85?? It is a MKI due to the internally vented rotors...

Some interesting thoughts on the new Venture from others who CTFW...
Condor replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
Good thoughts Puc. Personally I think there,s gonna be another Venture wave leaving the fold.... -
The answer is simple... He doesn't want to sell it. It's a vanity CL ad.....

Without waxing philosophically... I consider myself a 'Bike Owner'. That's it, and it's all encompassing....

The NRA does send me email regarding Carry Guard, and I do carry on the MC when on a long trip. Basically for the overnights in a motel, but that's about it. The monthly fee for the few times I do have it out of the nightstand are the big reason I don't sign up. Now if it were $60-$70 bucks a year I probably would. I wonder if the NRA gets a kick back on every policy written by their underwriter?? I ran into the same thing with their 'free' member $2500 gun coverage, but then when you look into extended coverage it's ridiculous... The NRA is getting to be a fund raising organization. Did you know the NRA controller and the Pres are pulling in one mill a year plus expenses...each.. I wonder what a million dollar liability umbrella policy would run with one of the major insurance co's?? Maybe $14 bucks a month ain't that bad of a deal????

My opinion...and 2¢... Find a set of Harley's. Attached in a set of pre sand blaster baffles. The flange on these are as big as the I.D. of the exhaust body. Getting that thing out of the tube would be nearly impossible without cutting the entire tip off. If you want loud there are a few Harley exhaust's that are just plain nasty. I know. I put a set of free-be's from the harley dealer and I thought I'd get a nice rumble with the '04RSMV. Holy sweet Jesus they sounded like a AA Fuel dragster coming off the line in the quarter mile... I have found a set of turn downs that I'll be swapping out this fall sometime. I'll be passing them on to another member when I do... -
I thought you weren't interested in a fish finder, but if all your interested in is depth the Helix 5 will do. Generally chart plotters are a lot more expensive than fish finders. Here's a link to Dick's Sporting Goods. They have one for $199.00. https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/humminbird-helix-5-g2-sonar-fish-finder-16hmbuhlx5snrg2xxfel/16hmbuhlx5snrg2xxfel?camp=CSE:DSG_pg29570_ecom_PLA_452&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI3ZuVv-vw1QIVR7XACh1B9wHWEAQYAyABEgK6tvD_BwE Also found a few others in the $250 range. BTW I owned a Sea Ray SR240 that I don't think the draft drew 2 feet of water.... Be thankful you don't have a sailboat.. :-) And most restricted channels are well marked.

The ICW in Florida ain't the coast of south east Alaska to Oregon, the San Juans, or Maine for that matter. A google map would be plenty, and yes you can set destinations and routes with maps... MOF the Satellite image beats the 'H' out of a copied NOAA chart. We use google extensively in the CA Delta, and the ICW doesn't compare. I know a full blown chart plotter is hard to beat, but no sense in wasting BTW I bet at the local chandlery there are a few chart books with all kinds of info in them. And... I just ran across this NOAA website http://www.charts.noaa.gov/OnLineViewer/GulfCoastViewerTable.shtml which will give the navigator lots of info anywhere in the US....

There's a Len's sticker on the back and I did a search and found this.... http://www.lensauto.ca/rewaco Looks like it's a 140 hp Mitsubishi engine...

For the ICW I'd use an I-pad or Android with google maps. Then you can watch Netflix while anchoring...

Speedohealer vs. SpeedoDRD
Condor replied to Freebird's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
OK watched the Video about the setting and all the posts. I'm still in the dark about how this thing is mounted between the sensor and the speedo?? Does it have a housing?? And... does it correct the odo as well?? Behold the real mpg's!!.... :-) I guess you'd need a GPS to figure out how far off the original mph percentage the speedo actually is??? -

I've never dealt with a RS exhaust before, but have rebuilt a couple of others. If the tips are removable by a screw or rivet and can be removed, it's just a matter of removing the tip and pulling the baffles out. IF... the tips are welded the only thing you can do to make them louder is drill a couple of holes in the rear plate. You're not going to get a big increase in DB's but it will give you a bit more rumble... In the RSV's and the VR's the exhaust's are a three chamber configuration which in effect makes them a longer chamber. I would think the RS's would be made that way as well. Drilling may be your only option other than finding some NOS after markets, or finding a set of Harley take-offs that will work. I tried to find a few pics of a '97 on the web and the exhaust configurations are all over the place..... -
Dear Olympian.... Hope the Gods of Mt.Olympus shower healing favor upon you... :-) Get well quick Jeff.

Wondering.... ... if the burning was caused by the lack of oil being splashed up on the stator on the '83's Yamaha came out with a gizmo/stator cooling kit.. maybe someone has a pic??... It was supposed to cure the problem on the '83's. I used to have one NOS, and probably still do, but where????? It'd be like the needle in a hay stack. Just did a search and came up with this info posted by @dinghy in 2008. Proof that there is ever lasting life.... BTW someone needs to donate a tripod to cowpuc.... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?71303-Stator-info-and-cooling-kit

Not this one, but the eclipse that went across Baja/Cabo San Lucas 25 or so years ago caused the wave action to stop and the ocean to look like a pond. Very weird...

Hmmm?? I wonder if a 2ndGen heel/toe would fit?? Or be McGivered to fit??

LOL!!!!!!!!! Now that's creative..... I was going to dust off my welding hood, but thought the better of it. It's one of those newer instant darkening models, and figured the 'H' with it. So I took a piece of note pad and punched a hole in it with a paper clip. Worked pretty well. With just a sliver of the sun showing it wasn't as dark as I expected...

Nope, but that's what happened... Don't believe me?..that's OK.. I had a couple of friends who drove 40,000 gal tanker trucks for refineries, and when they first went to unleaded they received tickets for being over weight, so had to cut back on the gallons carried due to the the weight of the H2O added to the mix. Carrying 40K put them over the weight limit due to the water weight. Shortly thereafter the tanks were redesigned to carry less volume. Not absolutely sure but I think they were cut back to 35,000 gals.
