  1. Thanks I check with the gun at idle right at start up and after a short run and the front was alway quite a bit cooler.
  2. Thanks for the reply. I think I may be shifting to soon. But that doesn’t explain the temp difference between the front and back banks. If I can ask where are you located? The site will not let me access your profile
  3. I have a 1997 royal star deluxe. Not sure if I have a problem or not. I haven’t had this bike real long so I am not familiar with how it is supposed to run. Now for what I am experiencing. Through the gears and especially in 4th and overdrive I feel a vibration on exceleration, especially when you lug it alittle. At first I thought I was running to high of gear but even when running in 5 th it vibrates almost like a miss. I pulled the plugs and they are all a nice even tan exactly the same. The one thing that concerns me is when I used a inferred on start pointing at the base of the exhaust port the front 2 cylinders are running about 125 deg’s cooler than the back cylinders. Is that normal with these motors? Also what are the correct spark plugs for this motor? Any help would be great
  4. Need some help here. When I got my 1997 Royal Star it came with rear pegs not boards . Now that my wife likes to go on longer rides the pegs gotta go. I know they came with floor boards but can anyone tell me a cheap place to pick up a pair? Will any other models work or are they model and year specific? Any help here would be great.
  5. I was wondering if you took a hole saw and cut a big enough hole if it would pull out.this is a picture of my exhaust
  6. Has any one done it? How does it sound ? Would you need to rejet? I have a 1997 royal star deluxe that I'm thinking about debaffling unless people tell me it is a big mistake. Is it like a Harley and you just take a hole saw and drill a hole and pull the baffle out or is it more involved? Any input is welcome pros and cons . Thanks
  7. Possibly. Is it possible for you to post or send me a video of the sound and complete exhaust system? Where are you located?
  8. Thanks for all the quick replies! I did buy the bike. It just runs and feels to good riding it. As far as the whine I'm not real worried. I would be worried if it did it in power or all the time. On another note has anyone taken the baffles out of one of these bikes? Can it be done ? Does it sound good? Any carb work afterwards?
  9. Thanks for the reply. It's a 1997 and it does it in all gears but as I said only when I let off the throttle. I other words , taking the pressure off the drive shaft and coasting while still in gear. Even does it if I pull the clutch in so I'm sure it's drive shaft related. The Yamaha mechanic said that they did make some noise as a model bike. While under way with pressure on the shaft it is smooth and quite as a church mouse.
  10. I have a 1997 royal star delux that I'm looking and. The bike is in perfect condition and runs great. The only thing I noticed is that when your running down the road in gear and you ease back on the throttle it makes a kinda of a whinny noise. But only then . Not under power
