  3. We had a decent turnout in June for our camp out The rides were fun and paced I few people asked about making it an annual event Well I do not want to compete with Freebirds MD in June so I think late Sept or early October when some leaves may be turning cooler temps but not to cold for a tent.( I have a few loaner heaters ) a nice end of the year get together I would like a Friday night cookout everyone bring your favorite camp Recipe followed by a fire ans talk Saturday early up and a light breakfast cook Followed by a ride and diner stop at the wounded goose restaurant Any guitar players want to show I can bring a couple of guitars and we can have some music around the fire , I don't have enough material in my picking arsenal to keep everyone entertained Lets make this happen Lets pick a week that works best for most Will add to the calender next week sometime after some replies
  4. Sierra Electronics in troy Ohio I purchased a J&M headset from them around 125.00 They have good service as well I WOULD NOT RECOMEND IMC..... Been through 3 sets in one year all the same issue
  5. I have one on the tour deluxe for 7 years now I can ride that bike all day long with no problems I Find the seat very comfortable,With the 500.00 card I won last year it only costs me out of pocket 160.00.With the bad back the forward push seems to help , Well on the RSTD anyway The back rest is the big thing The last 2 long trips I took my back was out with in 3 days of the trip The seat I have now just really hurts the tail bone I wouldn't hurt if I lost a few pounds also

  11. If you have the original bolts you should replace the bolts I got mine at sears hardware they were cheap On my 06 By 09 I had drilled every on one of them out Put some grease on he when you put them in
  12. Put the thermostat in filled the system Ran the bike and checked and had 1 leak after about a minute It is the stem on the outside that runs back to the rear cylinders The leak is at the thermostat housing The gasket is a O ring I removed it cleaned it and added some super lube And reinstalled the fitting Bike has been running at an idle now for 15-20 minutes and no leak Fan has come on 3 times Should I replace the o ring or just go with it ?
  13. Looks like that will be an amazing journey Be safe and have a great time

  16. Sad news for sure The poor girl friend following him To add to what Randy has mentioned about inexperience : I was at the dealer looking around and speaking to the guy just retired Never owned a motorcycle looking at one of the Suzuki boulevard 109 He wanted this bike bad --- Well the salesperson said --- I will not sell you this motorcycle It is to much motorcycle for someone that has never riden Then pointed him at a real nice looking used V Star 650 Saying ride something like this for a year or so
  17. Ouch!! Hope you heal soon Ouch again
  18. A NAPA 156 will not fit a second gen Bought one and tried I did tested my thermostat in hot water It started opening at a bout 185 full open at about 195 I am assuming it is good Just going to put it back in
  19. 2000 Venture Trying to cool the engine I am thinking it is running hot .I am comparing it to how hot my RSTD gets The stat housing out of the bike. That was fun I read this on another thread : If you need a new thermostat, there is a Napa #156 and on the Napa box was a #33708 that I was able to cross reference to a Stant #13758 at my local auto parts dealer. A stat at the MC stealer was ~$30 and at the auto parts dealer it was ~$7. All are 180* stats. I just wondering if current sometime things change Going to Napa on my way home today Thanks for your input...
  20. As I mentioned I think the bike runs hot sooooo.... Today I took the time to remove the thermostat housing That was fun I am so looking forward to doing it the RSTD The coolant looks fine I need thermostat a few post here mention napa. #156 Is this current I plan to try to put back together Monday or Tuesday A part number ? Auto zone a advanced auto are also local Auto zone tried to match it up with no luck The ones he found were longer If I don't have to spend 30.00 at the dealer that's good I would like to run the engine I little cooler if possible While on the topic which spark plugs napa may have ? I that everyone for the input I have received ....
  21. I purchased the bike last May I changed the coolant along with all fluids It has been 10,000 miles If the thermostat is not that hard to replace I may just do that Found one on amazon its about 50 dollars with shipping One of the oils I did try was Rotella 15-40 I am currently running with - Red Line Synthetic 20w50 Motorcycle Oil
  22. Would you have a part number and form whom did you order it from I have to same issue I want to resolve Most shops I say clutch basket they say OK I mention I basket I just lose them Is the motokote OK WIth the wet clutch ?
  23. I appreciate the feed back I know this subject has been brought up plenty of times I was kinda hoping someone put part x in and it worked If the bike is running hot , do you think that may contribute to the noise Thinning out the oil due to heat I do notice the Venture run way hotter that the RSTD Fan run way more Some one mentioned synthetic oils make it worse Trying a few different mostly synthetic oils did not work I think today I may go get some Yama lube 20/50 Something with some weight to it As someone mentioned Swap the basket from my RSTD and see what happen Thought about that , My issue was Any problems with the swap that leaves me with two non working motorcycles I am no mechanic but i try I do as much as I can on these Anyone in the Columbus area wants to guide me I don't have a problem tearing into it
  24. I have read up on the whine It the gears and the RPM's I get that .... I would like to know 1- if anyone has replaced the basket and noticed an improvement 2- if so Would you have a part Number -- I did find out the part number is different from the 2000 model basket than the new part That has me wondering if an improvement was made 3- Anyone in the Columbus Ohio area able to give me some guidance while doing the swap I don't understand the--->>> I in the I basket I could use any help I can get at this point Back story.. Bought an 2000 Venture last may it had 28,000 miles on it I put 10,000 on it since The whine is there and very loud - unbearable even worse later when the motor is hot By the end of the day i just want to park it I have tried a few types of oil no difference Drove down to NC and back last week It screamed the whole way Parked it when I got home and told Robin that is where it stays I'm done with it I have an RSTD I enjoy so I can still get out for a ride I don't feel right selling it the Venture to someone and making it someone else's problem That is just not me My thoughts are : just part it out and take the loss Keeping the fairing tour pack and electronics and putting them on my RSTD Having it all painted to match I just do not enjoy riding it Cranking up the tunes and or putting load pipes is not a choice for me I do own a 2006 RSTD it has a whine barely noticeable I run the Yama Lube 20/50 semi synthetic started that at 5000 miles At 50,000 still barely hear it Help !!!!
