    Back Fire

Puc doesn't even have to come to M.D. to help out but hope he makes it anyway. He made me think when he used the word "Gasket" I thought the only place there could be a "Gasket" was where the exhaust bolted to the head. Well after work I went out and started checking the bolts that bolt the exhaust to the head. Started with the right side back exhaust. Got maybe 1/4 turn on both. Did not want to over tighten. Moved to the right front. Had to remove the front fin from the motor. Top bolt pretty tight bottom bolt was so loose I could turn it with Allen Wrench very very easy. Checked the left side. Had to remove the rear fin to get to the bolts. 1/2 turn same on front. Never would have thought of this. Thanks Puckster. Hope this will take care of it. We shall see if it does on the way to M.D. Thanks for all the input.:thumbsup2:

    Back Fire

This is why I am asking for help at M.D.on Saturday. More eyes and ears to help out. I have checked and checked but cannot find anything.
  6. Wow, very nice for sure.
  7. Hi Jay, Looks like our time frame will work for us. My plans were to continue on I-75 to 280 for a short way to pick-up HWY. 2. If you have a way that you would like to go and take the lead, I am for that also. I plan on being gassed up before eating and leaving Denny's. See ya soon.

    Back Fire

I ran H.D. exhaust for 5 or 6 years maybe longer. Put stock back on to see if it helped with B.F. but did not. Hoses and caps look good to me. Thanks

    Back Fire

If anyone can help me out at M.D. at Don's this year. I would appreciate it. I have an 04 MidNight with 81,000 miles on it that I cannot stop from "BackFiring". It use to throw flames out the back on hard riding decell and very loud. I have it tamed down a tad from that. I have a CarbTune and have synched the carbs many times but still have a slight "BackFire" Just asking because this is M.D and figured someone can help. I will bring the CarbTune and tools.
  11. Good morning Larry, I was planning on leaving my house "Lake Orion Mi." at 9:00 to avoid most of the traffic that time of the morning. It is a stop and go from 14 mile Rd. most of the way down past Detroit. Even if we take side roads instead of I-75 it will take close to two hours to get to exit 15 because of traffic. I have two guests coming along for the first time riding wings. Couple of brothers. Anyway, if no one else shows up at that time you are talking about "10am leaving exit 15". I would sure enjoy riding on down with you again. Kickstand up at exit 15 say at 11am? That would give us enough time to gas up and grab a bite to eat at Denny's. If that doesn't work out for you. We will catch up at The Red Roof Inn or at Don's. See you soon either way.
  12. Thanks Don, I took a visit and reflected on life.
  13. Hi Larry, When are you heading down? Maybe we can hook up like before?
  14. Way to go Gramp's/Granddaughter.

    Red Roof Inn

I will keep an eye out for more info. Traffic would really be bad for me getting there that early. Real bad. Almost a dead stop at times. Usually after 9 is good for me to leave home and head south. We shall see.
  16. I have made reservations at the Red Roof Inn in Elyria Ohio today. They still have rooms left. Anybody meeting at exit 15 off I-75 in Monroe Mi. on Friday the 10th? We have eaten at Denny's, before at around 11:00 a.m., gassed up and left around noon in the past. Has someone taken over the lead on this trip?
  17. Looks good and cost less than an ST:mo money:

    Honda ST1300

I took a ride on the ST today. A lot of back road riding "gravel" and then I decided to go to my hunting grounds out in Leonard Mi. I normally take my 4 wheel drive truck down this big hill, on down into the woods and up another hill into open fields. This past winter I had to make two try's to make it up the first hill. It had been raining and was slippery. Still had it in 4 wheel drive. Gives you an idea maybe, on how steep the hill was. So anyway, I set there looking off into the trail down the big hill ahead of me as I set on the ST. Thought to myself. Why not. You will never know unless you try it. What could happen? Down the big hill I went. No problem. Down the lane and into the woods making a sharp left and up the hill into the field. This hill is steep and had to give it some gas and started a little fish tailing up the hill and into the field I went. So far so good. Went ahead drove to the end of the field where it turns back into woods and turned around in the field and headed back. Got to the straight away heading up to the big hill where I had got stuck with the truck and just stayed in 2nd gear and up the hill I went. Mind you this is all grass and not much dirt and ruts from my truck that I stayed out of. Sounds like a ride on the DRZ-400 I use to have but with the ST1300 600 lb. bike a completely different ride. Thought to myself. With the right tires on this bike you could go anywhere. Street tires are just a little to slick. For street riding I will tell you this bike will take the corners effortlessly. Still with all this said and done. I keep that Venture for the long hauls. Different style rides altogether. I could have never ridden the Venture where I took the ST today. Never would have even thought about it.

    Honda ST1300

I might add another note on the ST1300. It really handles well on back roads, gravel and the likes. I am not afraid to take the Venture on gravel but the ST handles extremely well and I don't worry about hurting it.

Well, as you can see by The Puc'sters" video that the seat has 3 or more height adjustments. Can't remember how many. I sent my seat to Rick in Texas this winter to do his magic on the seat. Have not had the opportunity to go on a long ride with it yet but I am sure it will be better. As far as the mirror's go as Puc was saying. They just snap right off with a smack with the palm of your hand and are then held on by a tether so they won't hit the ground. In case some one runs into the mirror in a parking lot with there body or what ever they don't brake. That would be a good trick to play on someone that just got an ST and didn't know they did that. Smack both of them off and see the look on his or her face. when they come out. The price did seem high on that one you were looking at Silver. He does have many options on it for sure. Does not look like stock exhaust to me. If your willing to pay for something you like than so be it, but I would shop and compare. The side bags and trunk come off so easy you won't believe it. Real easy. The seating for my wife as a passenger is not comfortable at all, but she is use to the Venture. The ABS brakes are great on mine. You can't believe the difference it makes so if you are to shop around, try one that has ABS. Insurance is cheaper also. I hope you have fun in shopping for a new to you bike.

I have run mine up to 140 mph and had no problems at all. Really did not notice anything.

Well, just so happens I bought one last spring. A 2003 with ABS. It is a very fun bike. 200 lbs less than the 04 Venture I have also. It is great for a adrenalin rush for sure. It will pull the front wheel off the ground without really trying. I still take the Venture on long hauls. It does get hot from the engine. It bothers some and not others. You will love the windshield adjustment for sure.
