  1. Smooth clutch handles are for sissys. I like the allen wrench/vise grip combo. A real mans clutch lol
  2. How do you guys who have this on this site make it happen? Thanks
  3. I think it's a very common thing. My bike had it but a PO did a repair with what looks to be painted fiberglass.
  4. Just verified I am indeed running MT66's. The only complaint with these is the back will not slip ever, so that means the front end hangs two feet in the air between high-rpm shifts!!
  5. I'm running Pirelli's,I think the same model, on my 89VR. No complaints what so ever.
  6. No truer words have ever been written!!
  7. I don't think your nuts at all for looking at it!! Maybe the bike was tilted back so the oil looked low. Or, since is was last registered in 2014 and the tires looked fresh, it had a horrible and sudden death? Who knows for sure from the pics. I personally would never consider buying something complex and used online. Good luck!!
  8. I know this thread is old people but please let me weigh in. This story smells of corporate America or at least a profit driven private company!! I've done Active Duty Military and corporate communications folks and all I can say is Academia / Research is where it is at ppl!!
  9. I'll have to try that stuff, thanks. I can deal with the grime I let accumulate but somebody elses grime? Reminds me of that term sloppy se.....!!
  10. I got my 89VR home in the bed of a big honkin dual-wheel Dodge diesel. We hand a nice hill to back up on and aluminum ramps. Strapped her down and had no probs. Kudos to the guy haulin his Venture in the bed of the Ford Ranger!!
  11. I've had this bike for around 2 months and finally got it cleaned and I think running properly. Here is a cold start, how does she sound? Thanks Will https://drive.google.com/open?id=1j8-Nq7UxsTSDSS2ekl2MIhWy7eZaRN96
  12. Thanks Bob. There is a few nicks and dings but I'm pretty happy with the purchase!! Not only the cosmetics, but these bikes really screw. I remember one wise person on this site that said "faded blue is fastest";I believe him!!
  13. Ok, will do Steven, but I was serious about the Earths magnetic field flipping. Leading scientists predict within 50 years it will happen. Will
  14. That part is very critical to the safe operation of the motorcycle in the event a major CME, Coronal Mass Ejection, hits the earth. Normally our planet's magnetic field shields us from much of this energy but if the field fails, btw it is reversing so manual compass will point South at some point, the special material this "spacer" is made from will be immune to the effects of the major cosmic rays it will be exposed to and thus will not WOT unexpectedly. Will:smile5:
  15. I bought this bike a couple months ago and here is a break down of my experiences. I hope it helps someone considering purchasing one to know what to expect and the money additionally needed. Price paid for bike, no toolkit but did have factory canvas cover 27,200 miles ODO $1,200.00 Oil change with filter $30.00 Final drive fluid replacement, pro=rated $5.00 New AGM battery $80.00 New clutch slave cylinder replacement $95.00 Degreaser, Dawn dish soap, rags $20.00 Three cans of Seafoam $21.00 cell phone mount with USB and fuse $14.00 State reg fee $20.00 Title fee $75.00 Sales Tax, I made out for the first time ever lol $81.25 State Inspection fee $35.00 Tool kit that contains everything the original did $40.00 So the total for this machine is: $1,716.25 I'm happy with it and I couldn't come close to buying a Goldwing, in this condition, for under $3,500. Cheers Will

    Finished Tool

I like the size and shape of your tool Mr. Fool!!
  17. I just spent over 2 hours with my bike on the center stand and me on my back. Armed with a tooth brush, heavily mixed with water Dawn dish Soap, Q-Tips, spray de-greaser and many rags. I got every nook and cranny from front wheel to back wheel free of the 30 years of grime. I've already done everything else so this bike is now how I want it. If History proves anything, I'll trade it soon lol
  18. Just heard from the seller replying to my question of not a Royale and what would that do to the price? His reply in it's entirety: "Yup your right its a standard Venture but its still $850.00 dollars for it.Thank you for your interest in the bike!"
  19. I was looking at Goldwings when I happen to discover the existence of the Yamaha Venture Royale. I'm talking with the guy rite now. One question: Would this web site collectively shake their heads at me and mumble "Well, he was a odd ball jerk sometimes". https://hartford.craigslist.org/mcy/6694088715.html
  20. For now I bought a Bluetooth cassette adapter and use it to play music from my phone. Works very well for such a cheap price. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I3YLHAC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Will
  21. I did say a few "colorful" words while bleeding the system. When I cracked the bango at the Master, things started to work. Will
  22. My mistake and it dies look nice. Prob needs a carb service and vroom!!
  23. It started at 11PM last night and the delivery is expected soon? Wow, that some fast growth lol Gratz!!
  24. This guy say it's a Royal, but I don't see the compressor, stereo etc. He asking $850, could be a goo deal as is around 5 miles from my home!! https://worcester.craigslist.org/mcy/d/1983-yamaha-venture-royale/6687447018.html
  25. Oh ok PH I thought the extraction was the pain. My two friends, Hansel and Gretel, taught me long ago how to retrace my steps. But then again they are still hunting a white whale so what do they know. It was the best of times it was the worst.......
