  1. Well sir,no.I traded the bike in recently for a suzuki c50.I was tired of all the weight.I was going to use plastex to repair the bags, bought one piece of abs to cut pieces out of if needed.Their website has a video of how to use their product.great stuff. But I had determined I was going to take the parts of,go to maco.Have them painted their urethane red,not the shortlasting enamel.I newi could do tat.We have little winter here, but up north it would be a good winter project.i would love to own another touring bike, suzuki claims this c50t to be one, but I would want it to be much lighter.i.e.nomad,shadow tour, valkyrie tour, bandit 12,who knows.I would have to have highway pegs if i boughta sporttourer.I htink it would be cool if I could fit bags and windshield to a b king. But probably have to shift that bike a lot.
  2. thanks guys.If they come back out with the venture,I probably will buy one.if its not a v twin.
  3. ome of the problems with thes 800 boulevards is they have a 50,000 mile engine.I am used to a 200,000 mile engine. But i only ride 2500 miles a ear, i am 66, so I have 10 years left on the bike based on that.2 if i ride a lot.my old bike plus 1700 got it.
  4. I traded off the 01 venture.89,000 miles, ran ok.It was not maintained at all before I got it.But the clutch was going to need replaced,it had many bad cosmetic problems from being dropped, and all I had was a bonded title.I will try to post a picture of what I got.2009 c50,20,000 miles, 3 years warranty.
  5. I did a combo of many things said here.I got the bike shifting great now.I bought a mightyvac.waste of money this time.I can not get a clear tubing nor for sure any of the supplied right angle fittings on over the bleeder screw. Its too close to the cylinder head, so went old route.I had bike on lift, level, bars to right making reservoir level.filled close to top,had wife pump lever 5 times and hold down after5.I opened the screw, fluid came out.Air would burp up into the reservoir each time. Finally that quit, the lever got firm.I put cover back on, let bike down, went for a ride.It shifts perfect now.I will use the tied down lever next time.Good idea. Thanks for everyone's help.
  6. My 2001 venture,89,000 miles. It had the problem of old fluid, got hot,got bubbles, made it hard to shift.Help here said change fluid, should be fine.I sopped out the blackish looking fluid, now get just clear fluid when I open bleeder screw. But about 4 times it got air in it again.I got master cylinder filled up,it was not very low, I opened the screw, couple burps of air, then it was fine.each time lasted about 2 weeks.I figured I must have not got all the old fluid out.Today the clutch lever was very limp.I once again added fluid, burped air out, was better but not right.I repeated the procedure, got nothing but fluid, no air.Clutch lever still too soft, no resistance at all. Now once you go out of neutral it lurches forward. It can be ridden, shifts good till fifth gear, then its a little hard to get into.Downshifting is a real problem, barely made it home. This time I put it on my lift with handlebars and bike level.Repeated fill and bleed. No good.I need to buy a vacuum device? What should I do? Please help. Thanks for any input.
  7. I dont follow baseball, basketball, soccer, ice hockey.I only follow the cowboys and they are done for the season.
  8. I have seen gazillions of them on ebay. But go to dallas craigslist, a guy has a complete somewhat beatup venture, about 86 model for $200.
  9. You are so right.I misread.I htought he said royal star, didnt see the venture part. The nonventure royal stars do have just 62 hp.
  10. I used to be on the delphi forum when I owned an 01 rstd. They have airbox mods that will unleash the beast.the bigfoot mods,#1,2,3.Good time to do it while the engine is out.Rejetting is necessary for BF #3.But you go from 62 hp to at least 70, 82 if you put venture intake cams, and the bigfoot mods is only airbox work and rejetting. They can tell you which size jets to use.A plug and play power commander helps performance also. And I agree,4000 miles, you got to go for it.
  11. I sure wouldnt try to fix it in the frame. Its a big deal job, fighting for room to get wrenches on things makes it even worse.
  12. There was a guy here for awhile that specialized in old harleys and british bikes.he said there is no way to make a shovel not leak oil.All due to ancient metallurgy. The difference heating tolerances of 2 densities of metals of engine parts basically keeps the parts from forming perfect oil seals. I was into vintage suzuki gs bikes once. The problem with old bikes is they are always coming up with new problems. What does that have to do with this thread, I don't know.
  13. arizona? I went for a job interview in tucson one time.it was 109 degrees.I said to them texas was hot, but it seemed even hotter there in tucson. They replied well, it is a dry heat.So is my kitchen oven but i wouldnt want to live there.I traveled down cave creek road in phoenix, saw everyone had swimming pools but nobody was using them. It's because they would have been boiled alive.I looked a house building lot in tucson, near oro valley.Dirt, rocks, a view of some tiny little mountains. It cost $49,000 for just the lot. However, once the sun started going down, the sunsets are the most beautiful anywhere. Being a biker, one guy said the heat would boil your battery in a years's time.Nope, give me texas.
  14. nope. thats it.I just assumed the rsv wouldnt stand up with just that,i figured many straps on the sides and back would be needed.Thanks.
  15. I am thinking the venture motor will into go into a 99 rs.the main reason the old rs was so anemic on horsepower was the limited airbox.in 2005 they went extrnal like on the venture.I owned an 01 rstd. The venture intakecams are hotter, more power.the rs exhaust cams are the same as the rsv. the rsv has bigger airbox, bigger carbs,so not sure it would work on the 99rs.
  16. do you have pic of what you did?
  17. when the packers come to a t and t, we will have this discussion again.
  18. I feel sorry for you.You have the packers, we have the cowboys, America's football team.I'll check back with you about december and see you are liking the winter.
  19. Its 70 degrees.I have new tires.Rick butler recently redid my seat.I am off today.Envious?
  20. I have naps app on my phone.Sometimes it screws up, but most of the time it is accurate.I imagine with a helmet on I wont hear the voice, but it still gives me a pictoral shot of the way the road is bending, how long and how far with eta, etc.
  21. Goos method looks like.thanks.
  22. I have a 2001 venture.Going on a road trip.My phone has maps app, good for navigation. If I had an auxiliary port to plug into, and i bought one, where would you mount one, and how would I protect my phone if it rained.Any of you have navigation on your bike?
  23. I know I have a 6 gallon tank,but it never holds 6 gallons.
