  1. Never heard of that.I will check into it.
  2. My input for what its worth is this.I am on my 4th royal star. The first 1 I sold out of fear.I did not know how to handle an 800 pound bike. They are topheavy, if they fall over you need help getting it back up, its scary.Much higher center of gravity than a vulcan.I owned 1 of those also.Every one of them had some sort of whine. They are kind of like a lawnmower.Gas and oil and they never break. The first gens do have some problems in the 83 and some 84 models. With these bikes its about throttle control getting used to them. You can lean them way over once you get used to realizing even though it feels like its going to fall over at slow speeds at anything over 10 mph it wont.Like I say, I have owned one since 2001.The most mileage reported here on one is 350,000.The clutches slip if you use car oils like castrol gtx.My second third and 4th one came after owning to goldwings and a harley ultra. The big bikes are a total different riding experience, but only at slow speeds like parking lots, going around residential corners, stop and go traffic.I first rode mine in a 250 mile trip, but in a big circle, never being more than 40 miles from home. That helped me, maybe it would for you as well.
  3. I appreciate the input. Its a mess.I am totaly willing to pay any taxes, fees etc.I guess I will try all these. But if I pay all the taxes, then it basically gives it to the second owner.First owner signed it,got it notarized, next guy signed it,never transferred or paid any taxes. If he gets paid up, then technically the bike would belong to him legally.Neither he nor anyone here will return my call. Its a long shot contacting the guy in louisiana. Thanks for all input.
  4. I got my 01 venture in may.I went to get title changed over today.I knew there would be a problem but thought I could work it out.I am in denton texas, near dallas. The kid with the bike was in burleson, only 60 miles away.but the title was from louisiana, the owner signed it over and had the signature notarized as transferring it to another guy.The kid traded that guy a car for the bike.I traded my little v star for the venture. The other guy never got the title changed over to his name either.I took a title app form, filled it out, showed them the guys name, where the original owner had signed and notarized. They said 1.The second guy(they dont know about the kid) would have to get the title in his name, then when the title came sign it over to me.2.OrI could apply for a bonded title. Both on the title app tax form and the bonded title application form there is a place for the second guy to sign. But he never had the bike in his name, yet the original owner had signed it over to him and had it notarized.3.I can not reach the kid i traded my v star to or the other guy.I have texts from the kid so i know he is around in burleson. But he and the other guy could just say sorry, your tough luck.So I have the bike, I have the title, seems there is some way i can get it registered in my name.Bonded is possible, but i have to get the right person to sign off on it.I know I screwed up.Please tell me how to unscrew it.Thanks.
  5. I have tried pm,it says i nev er sent him a message. He is selling me some mufflers.I am trying to tell him I sent the money.Admin please help.
  6. Thanks bratman.sounds like a plan.
  7. I went to member vendor, did not find anyone named skydoc
  8. Thanks guys for all the good information.
  9. My bike has 87,000 miles on it.About to change brake fluid.Do I just fill the master cylinder after sopping out the old.refill, open bleeder, pump brake lever and hold (my helper holding) while i open the bleeder.Do this till clear looking fluid comes out.Do same for front and rear caliper.I know the ventures have to pull the lever pretty far in before the brakes start to grab.I have read here about sintered, organic, ebc pads.Softer on rear to prevent locking up,etc. Also r1 change. Also steel brake lines.I dont know if all the bolt holes from r1 line up on the venture. Also the whole system would be full of air, especially if i went with steel lines.I could use a vacuum bleeder I guess.Where do you buy those ss lines?Do they have to be cut to length? What about the banjo fittings on the ends? Thanks for any input.
  10. My wife takes forever to get ready when we are going somewhere. She usually tries on about 5 outfits. The other day she asked me does this dress make my butt look big? I said there aint no dress in the world that would make a butt look that big. A girl at work has been on weightwatchers for quite awhile.I swear she is getting bigger.I said to her wow, that weightwatchers isnt working for you at all is it? I was listening to a bunch of women i work with bashing men.I said to them women had only 3 purposes in life.Cooking, cleaning, and to be ready for sex. I asked a lady the other night are you his mother? She scowled and said no, I am his wife! A guy said to me the other day he loved his harley.I said then you must be gay.
  11. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/V4_engine#Advantages_and_disadvantages_of_the_V4_engine I dont understand why the indirect driving of the cam would be a viable design, or its efficiency or longevity against other designs. Some of this complexity of engine design would probably prohibit use of a chain drive versus driveshaft?

  13. You are probably like me and like the exile motorcycles.I was looking at some of the customs at sturgis.paint jobs that probably cost 50,000.unrideable seats and suspension.not my style.I always wanted to build a bike i called stealth.low, but lots of ground clearance with a high performance motor, wrap around fairing kinda ducati like, mid mount pegs, everything blacked out.but chrome is pretty.

  16. if it is right, i heard the 1100 was coming back out, but efi.I have decided if I downsize sometime i would buy a used 1100 classic or custom. If you have never seen what pacific cost star does to a 1100 it would be worth you looking. The original 1100 having to take off an exhaust to change oil was really a bad design.surely they will fix that.
  17. I owned 3 goldwing 1500's.I would like to own another goldwing, but the cylinder head keeps me from being able to stretch out my right leg, a no go for me.I wrecked my right knee in 2000 when I totaled a bike. The forward controls make it possible for me to ride.Although probably the goldwing is the best bike ever invented. And they got their idea from bmw.
  18. many great comments.I have one question, one for yamaha and i hope they are listening. Why does it become necessary to redesign a bike? look up electraglides. From about 1970 to 2015 they look a lot alike. They improved them over the years. But people were pleased with the looks so they didnt change that much. The goldwing has looked much the same since 1988, and for 20 years before that those models looked alike. The main complaints I have seen are the bike is too topheavy, the sound system might as well not be on the bike because it sucks, and why cant they put the vmax motor in it? I imagine keeping the 2013 fairing and lights could be retained, the dashboard would have to be totally redesigned for a sound system.Putting a vmax motor is not a simple boltin procedure.Perhaps copying the indian roadmaster method of frame materials and geometry could make the bike seem lighter.I sat on a roadmaster, swore it must have been 200 pounds lighter than a venture, but in reality it is just as heavy. You cant put a fairing, sound system, trunk, saddlebags, large displacement engine, crashbars and all the touring amenities without the bike being heavy. But an 1800 goldwing,a roadmaster, both feel ighter even though they arent.I sat on a victory crosstour. It feels heavy to me.I hope the venture comes back out, if yamaha feels they can only do it in v twin form, I can live with that. But keep all the plastic the same, so no model year would look outdated.

  20. I bought 4 magazines yesterday.Cool stuff. One was called raw.Its full of bikes guys built.some of them are rat bikes. Many great custom ideas. Also there is a mad max bike rally next april in indianapolis I want to go to.it was in the magazine. There is one planned in st louis missouri also. You might be able to find it online. ride texas=lots of cool ride routes and rallys in october.I am going to at least 1 of them. new bikes-the 650 kawasaki is really cool.also the yamaha fz7 and fj09.Tons of bike for the money. But the coolest bike, one I would go buy tomorrow if i had the money is the ducati scrambler. I go to car shows, love vintage stuff. The first monday of the month is vintage bike night in st loius.Retro is in right now, good reasons why.I admire bikes with headlights that can see around corners, push button adjustable suspension, windscreens, multimegawatt sound systems, etc, metalflake paintjobs and so on.But give me a bike like the scrambler, give me a map, and say lets go.All I really need is 60 hp, a comfortable seat, a small windscreen, and a bungee cord. I know since the crosscountry victory, indian chief, goldwing, the ugly bmws are in the touring arena yamaha will come out with something eventually. the bike I traded for my venture a couple months ago was a 950 yamaha. If you are looking to downsize I highly recommend it.It can cruise all day at 75, ride two up easily, with bags and a windshield you would swear you are on a big twin from the harley brand.I beleieve it wuld have no problem keeping up with a dyna or fatboy.I also have owned a 900 vulcan and suzuki c50.Those are ok, but the yamaha really feels it has enough power to do anything and doesnt need a 6th gear like the other 2.The bolt makes no sense to me at all.The 950 stock seat sucks, but with the butler mod i bet it would be good.
  21. Yamagrl, wow, tons of great information there. Thanks so much.I have narrowed down my choices with some added information. 1.If I do it myself, I am a male rn, have access to every kind of mask there is in regard to fumes. If I do it myself I will most likely spend a lot of money, get poor results, and eventually pay someone else to do it. 2.There is a maaco here, taking off the parts, having them paint them good idea. 3.take it to garland, let them do it. 4.Take all my parts off, have the bike painted metallic red,I love red bikes.
