  1. I cant get hold of him,but that is my old bike on his site.
  2. Beautiful.Is that a 1300 or 1100?
  3. please, dont leave me hanging, is the bike sorted out yet?
  4. For some reason thehannigan fairing link wont work.usually go to hanniganmotorcyclefairings.com, click on yamaha. You see my black 83 there.I think mine is the only first gen he has done.I gave him the bike also.So he has everything for measurements etc. This was my second 83.The fairing was busted up, hence the hannigan.results? $1000, worth every penny. The fairngs are up to 1/8 inch thick, not any heavier than stock, only come in black. It had snap closure pockets.Drawback, the tank shelter.he put snap on tonneau covers where the shelter wasnt hidden as it was with the stock fairing.Wind resistance is so markedly decreased, you will get about 5 mpg more than stock. The custom lowers he made were $300 more.I didnt really need them.I cant say enough about jerry heil the owner.A true lover of bikes.he has a large collection himself. My oldbike's fairing was really busted up,thats why the fairing.I took all the stock radio junk out.heavy and old,not wanted by me.My bike had lots of wiring problems, ran good, but I spent way too much, decided to stop my losses. That's why I gave him the bike. The stock harness is a nightmare.
  5. That is an excellent bike. All those bikes are way too tall for me though.
  6. What bike is out there that you are referring to?
  7. [h=3]lightweight touring bike[/h] http://venturers.org/Forum/styles/prosilver/imageset/icon_post_target.gifby ronaldlbayless » Wed May 27, 2015 8:33 am We all know the venture might not be coming back, sad for me.We also know one of its biggest downsides is its weight, about 850 pounds. There are some socalled touring bikes, actually they are sport tourers like many of the bmw's,ie 1100 rt that are lighter. My valkyrie only weighed 646.But sucked gas.Sound systems, tour packs, crash bars, 300 pound motors, cause the bikes to weigh a lot.Plus full coverage fairings etc. I saw an article dont remember which magazine, a guy took a 298 pound motorcycle motor, made a bike that when finished only weighed 550 pounds.Carbon fiber is expensive.I think chrome moly is expensive, do think it is lighter, and aluminum, titanium, for frames maybe. There are 600 cc sportbikes that have 100 hp.You have to shift 6 times going around a corner, but they are light and powerful.Actually 75 hp riding 1 or 2 up is plenty for touring.I have found crunched ventures salvage titles for less than $1000. I have a genius friend.Alan.he was a master frame builder.Designed his own turbocharger, built land speed bikes for bonneville, can sandcast engine parts, etc.Cant paint though. He makes a mean girder fork.I wonder if a person had a wrecked venture.used lightweight frame material.perhaps made the motor part of the frame as in the vincent or virago to reduce weight. No navigation system,no sound system-a person could use a mp3 for that.Carbon fiber bags and tourpack, each of which could be easily removeable.Or go with a hannigan, one of which i owned that has storage compartments, maybe start with a crunche v max to attain efi.Who knows. But take 100 pounds off a venture and its stock hp will seem like much more.Mine is already enough. But make the bike for touring, not all the unnecessary features.I bet he could blueprint one with a starter bike, or tell me why it can't be done. But look at the new scout.1000 cc's, 100 hp.My goal is to stick with the yamaha v 4.Just my ideas. Finally an owner of second gen venture.wahoo. ronaldlbayless Posts: 29Joined: Tue Mar 19, 2013 1:18 amLocation: TX, DentonMember Number: 3616City: DentonState or Province: TXPTBAV since: 2013 Top Post a reply 1 post • Page 1 of 1 Return to General Tech Talk Jump to: Quick-mod tools: [h=3]Who is online[/h] Users browsing this forum: ronaldlbayless and 0 guests Board index Subscribe topic Bookmark topic The team • Delete all board cookies • All times are UTC - 5 hours [ DST ] Remove cookies set by this forum Powered by phpBB © 2000, 2002, 2005, 2007 phpBB Group

  9. wel,let me put it this way, when you were asleep, I saw her down at a watering hole consorting with a bunch of harleys.
  10. yeah camos, but if your bike could choose between you and me riding her, she would pick me.
  11. I owned 2 83 models.Second gear goes out on all of them.Frames broke on many of them But it did to seem to handle much lighter than my 01.But the 01 is much better looking, I have always wanted one.Is it an illness, or is it just harmless affection? After I park in the driveway i look back at the bike to admire it before going into the house.
  12. Just sent him an email.I only live 38 miles from him.wahoo.Going there as soon as he gives me the go-ahead.
  13. these are all what I would have said if i was going to write it in here.Nothing more to add about what I would like to see in a venture.I do have some input. For years I was on the kz forum and the gs forum. They all said why doesnt honda/kawasaki make a retro bike like our old bikes.Honda did, the cb 1100.3 people bought one.The venture never sold well.Other than lacking a reverse it is as good as any goldwing I ever rode, and I have owned 3 goldwings. could care less about reverse.I always loved the venture for not being wrapped in tupperware. The victory crosscountry tour and the indian chief are what i think a touring bike should look like, and our ventures do look like that.Only ours has a nonvibrating supersmooth v 4.Much better in my opinion.perhaps if the venture carried the badge "limited edition" and only made a few each year it would get them off the showroom floor.I bet a person could find a 2011 somewhere still sittin on a dealer floor.
  14. I saw these old posts.I clicked on a link to rick anyhow.I guess he is no longer available.Anyone know what he does, maybe i could do it too.
  15. I dont remember, I just made sure it wasnt the kind with a converter component

  17. thank you so much for responses. Now I will look for rk mufflers
  18. Ingenuity reigns supreme here.I think that is awesome. You guys are smart and innovative.
  19. I know about jetting. Not how to do it, but I know about it.I have been a vintage type bike for years, not any longer.I was on the suzuki gs forum for years.guys just couldnt wait to take off the airbox and go with pod filters. Then they could never get it tuned right.I also used to have a lot of 79-82 kz stuff. The head pipes blue or brown told me something.I doubt seriously any prior owner, I think I am the third owner, did anything but just take a hammer and pound out some sort of baffling like is shown in the drawings. Many here have used roadking mufflers, are they ok with stock jetting? I appreciate the help guys.I wish I could get away with something.I work at a hospital. One of my good friends is an xray tech.He could shoot a film and I could see what is altered inside.I think that wuld work. But that aint happening.I spent 4 days in sturgis in 2009.I owned an ultra with stock pipes.Out of 400,000 people I was the only one with stock pipes.
  20. That is amazing information.Thank you so much.
  21. What I bought is abs cement only.I will look in the paint section. If it melts abs, how do I keep it from melting good stuff too? I am an RN,I work in ICU.Male by the way.My wife is a retired nurse.I bet I could take some 10 cc syringes, use one of our 18 gauge blunt canulas, and direct it right where I want it.
  22. Harbor freight doesnt have any plastic welder, just came from there.I will check lowes, home depot, northern tools.might have to go online.is yours 800 watt or 1300 watt? Was it about $65.00?
  23. Great information.mek? Would that likely be in the section where i bought the abs cement?
