  1. Congratulations to your daughter for her great accomplishment!!! I know you and your family are very proud!
  2. Are you sure? When I look up new starter motors, the part number for the 93 and older is 00 26H-81890-00-00 and the 96 up starter motor part number is 4NK-81890-00-00
  3. if you search on "starter xvz13" and "starter xvz1300" you will find several on ebay. The cheapest one left I think is $89.

  5. I started carrying when I worked in Homestead FL. You have to live in a fenced in gated/ guarded subdivision or apt complex to avoid many burglaries. There is a policeman stationed at the Walmart and at all of the grocery stores. A co-worker was out mowing his lawn one day and a car stopped at the curb, a guy got out and pulled a gun and took his wallet. There is so much crime in southern FL that they make is easy to get a permit. If you are a veteran, you don't have to take the class and can have a permit in less than two weeks. Yes, I got used to carrying in FL and now I fell naked without it. The closest I probably came to needing my weapon was when I went to the Walmart after getting off the night shift at 7:00am. I parked way out by myself. When I came back to my truck, a car parked two spaces away from me and the driver opened the window on my side and looked me over. I don't know what he had in mind but I was trying to psych myself up for what I may have to do. But he got out and went inside the store. I was happy I had my Ruger LCP .380 in my pocket. even though I didn't need it that time.
  6. Awesome! You should have a story worthy of getting printed in Rider magazine!!
  7. Huh? Correctly carried in condition 1 the only thing easier to bring to bear is a revolver. In condition 1, you still have to hit the safety to fire. My Sig with the double action first shot is quicker, as quick as a revolver to bring to bear. A Glock has the easy trigger pull on the first shot so it is the easiest to bring to bear and hit the target with the first round. I recently fired a Sig 1911 I rented at the local range and I really liked it. I'd like it even better if it was double action on the first round.
  8. 9mm is the least expensive centerfire ammo because so much of it sold. I have a Sig Sauer P226 9mm, the Navy Seal handgun, and I doubt if there are any better handguns out there. It is double action on the first round if you don't have time to kock it and has an easy trigger pull when it is kocked. I stumbled on this weapon when I bought my first handgun from a coworker and I didn't realize how lucky I was to get it for a first especially for $350. Double action means heavy trigger pulls which throws off your accuracy. Glocks are great with an easy trigger pull for accuracy, but they are the most accidentally fired weapons of all due to their design combined with the mistakes of man. A 1911 is a great weapon, but you have to take time to kock it for the first shot. If you are sure you will have time, it's a great choice. I have a Ruger LCP .380 for a pocket carry. It's reliable and small for pocket carry but it is double action and my accuracy is less than with the Sig D/S action. But it is for close range emergencies. I also have a S&W Stainless Steel Model 639 9mm I picked up from a co-worker. It has a single stack magazine and I'm not as accurate with it as the Sig, I think mainly because of the poor rear sight.

  10. Nah, That bike has been for sale for a long time.
  11. Awesome photos! Keep them coming! Tweeks is doing great!
  12. Just curious. Do you have the stock ignition advance, the TCI I think it is called. if the timing advance is not advancing properly, it will cause the engine to run hotter. I had this issue with a new car engine I had installed a while back. The installer was in such as rush they forgot to properly set the timing and it was too retarded and my brand new engine ran hot.
  13. Before I recently bought my 89 VR, I considered the BMW K1200LT. But, after looking at a couple of videos on the internet, one by the President of the Illinois BMW LT group and another by a BMW mechanic, I decided not to buy an LT. I suggest you view these videos for your information. And BMW = overcharges on everything related to the bike.
  14. I really appreciate you keeping us informed of your trip as you go. I really enjoy the photos! Keep riding safely and enjoy! When we stayed in Page, AZ for one night Memorial Day weekend, we paid over $200 for a room in an old Holiday Inn! Sounds like camping behind the abandoned motel is the way to travel!!
  15. I found that searching on "starter XVZ1300" or "starter XVZ13" found the starters. Some were for the first generation but they stated what year or years it was for. If Venture is in the search criteria, it will pull up personal watercraft starters.
  16. Okay, you are correct but they did sell bikes with the XVZ1300 V4 engine and its starter has the same part number as the later models. Right now there are several later model starters on ebay for different prices, some very high. I just bought a 96 starter yesterday for $54.20 with free shipping from Pinwall Cycle parts. They have photos and a video of the complete bike running before they took it apart including a dyno run. The bidding on a 2007 starter ends tonight.

  18. Tighten the bearing until the bearing is seated and you feel some resistance and then back off until the resistance is gone. No, you don't need to fill the entire cavity.
  19. Wow! You really are covering a lot of ground! Are you going to Monument Valley? It's north on 163 just across the Utah border and take a right (east). A few miles down you will enter the Navajo controlled area. Take the tour! It's great! It's called Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park. google it and you can see photos of the area. Have fun! Best wishes!
  20. I checked ebay and amazon and did not see Visteons. Yes, they manufacture the Motorcraft cops and many F150 guys have bought them on ebay much cheaper than the Motorcraft cops.
  21. There are some 96 Venture starters on ebay. Are they the 4 brush starters too?
  22. The Visteons are the ones recommended on the f150online site. They are supposed to be the same as Motorcraft and are much cheaper and supposedly available on ebay. I also saw a recommendation for Araparts. Check rockauto.
  23. Isn't it recommended to remove the drive shaft and grease both ends at this point?
  24. Go to f150online.com for recommendations on cops. They recommend Motorcraft or there is an equivalent from the same vendor that makes Motorcraft that is cheaper sold on ebay. They bad mouth all other brands.
