  3. Amish country is OK, covered bridges in the area, tourist traps, etc. Gettysburg and surrounding areas are nice for US Civil War history (battlefields, 'ghost tours', etc.). PA Grand Canyons on Route 15 if coming through NY Finger lakes region. Stop off at Conewengo dam in MD (Just south of PA border on the Susquehanna river) to see Bald Eagles (I think last count were 12 nesting pairs). Then head over the Dam and head down 222 to the Union Hotel for a biker style BBQ lunch. Should try and ride US50. Pick that up at Winchester VA and ride west to Bridgeport WV. Some nice mountain twists and scenery.
  4. The Black Hills region is indeed beautiful. Next time you are out that way be sure to ride through Spearfish Canyon (Alt 14) . We always went through Spearfish to Alt 14, to 85 then across 16 to Custer, a lot of nice scenery and twists. You didn't mention Devils Tower, but since you headed NW into Montana it's a gotta see IMO.
  5. Here's a little bit from the MRF concerning E15 proposals: http://www.mrf.org/2014/news_release/14NR15.htm
  6. Guess you can't add anything that would put strain on the drive train; passenger, trailer, luggage... unless of course it has the Harley name on it... So much for the torque claims if their transmissions can't even take a little abuse.
  7. I ride a second gen with a clearview shield. Opening the vent a bit to relieve the back pressure helps a lot. My lady says it's fine then, no buffeting...
  8. tried it, but couldn't get it to play?!? What AM I doing wrong???
  9. back when I used that sort of thing I used Neat. Scanned documents in and OCR'd them into the built in database. Software is pretty intuitive.

    have a link to that?
  13. had a 'spoiler' shield on my v-star that I looked over and it worked so much better than a stock flat shield. spoiler actually throws the air up and over which reduces buffeting.
  14. didn't have that problem on mine. I did find the plastic tabs at the left side cracked, flexing too much. I made metal ones and haven't had any issues at all.

    Why?

what just a dang minute.... yesterday you said X=2...
  16. I have one on my '05 RSV. Not crazy about it. Am going to be trying the clearview shield after talking to Craig who runs the operation. The thing I like about the clearview is they are contoured with a slight spoiler lip at the top that should do better at lifting the air up and over while still being able to see over the shield. Had a spoiler shield on my V-Star that I liked a lot, not buffeting and did a good job in the rain.
  17. I've been looking at LED for my RSV. Glad I found this thread. Wasn't aware that there were H4 plug in type CREE LEDs, but after reading a few reviews I am not sure I want to go that route. Already spent a fair piece on a Phase 7 LED through Truck Lite that was installed on my V*650. Was going to swap out the Phase 7, and after splitting the fairing I find the housing is going to be tricky. I really like the Phase 7 light, low beam is fantastic, high beam is ludicrous! If I get something figured out I'll post back.
  18. I'd ditto this. Had the red craftsman for a few years, never really trusted it especially if the load shifts. Got the HF pneumatic table along with a spider platform lift and it works great. Only thing I changed out was the front wheel chock to a drive in one. Its a bugger to try and balance the bike and tighten the clamp style chock...
  19. anyone have any tips on installing an HID? haven't dug into it yet but have the kit in hand. Originally was going to swap out an LED Phase 7 only to find the lens mount is proprietary and won't take a complete change out. TIA.
