  1. Looks like a jig of some sort to measure pushrods for speciality applications.
  2. Reality is knowing that no matter how hard I try I will never be as smart as I was at 16. That after 23 years of being married to my best friend she still thinks I can do anything. Reality is rembering what I thought it would it be like when my hair turned gray, I retired and be Blessed enough to do what I want and that it is at least twice as good as I thought it would be. Reality is knowing that as good as it is this is just a sample of what it will be like when the here after calls my name. Hope to see you all there when that comes to reality.Be Blessed in all you do.
  3. Or just sell them to me and I will store them on my bike since I want to do that upgrade anyway. Just trying to help.
  4. Well I finished makeing my drivers back rest. If anyone wants to see send me a phone number in a PM I will text you a picture(I still don't know how to post on the site). I think it came out good since I have less than twenty bucks invested. Let me know what you think? Blessings.
  5. Looking at , reading and listening to all the feedback is very informative. I took a serious look at the frameing on my fith wheel and have decided (for safty sake) that a trailer is the safest option since my set up is paid for. Talking to the wife we are considering looking for someone that has a toy hauler and possibley trading. Either way it is exciting. This site and you are all awsome. We went today and got a larger US map and a new atlas. plan right now is to do 250 to 350 miles a day and use the bike to see the sites then choose the next direction and go again. The coolest thing is we are not in a hurry to get anywhere and not in a hurry to get back. Oh yea how can I find out where is is ilegal to tow a trailer behind my fithwheel?Don't want to go anywhere I am not welcome if you know what I mean. A good friend told me once it is OK to think about tomorrow as long as you live life to the fullest today, good advise don't you think.
  6. OK, so when I retired the wife and I talked about seeing the USA on an extended round trip tour persay. We purchased a fith wheel camper and a Duramax to tow it with. As you know we have since purchased the 96 RSTC an would like to take it with us as it would multiply the enjoyment factor by leeps and bounds. Question is does anyone have any recomendations as to the best way to carry it on the back of the fithwheel since I don't want to tow a trailer behind a trailer. Any feed back is welcome.
  7. You guys are just saying all these things because they are true (at least in your mind). As for me I love this site and look forward to many years of dealing with all of you. I just felt like I should say thanks to Don. Also I built my drivers backrest bracket and pad today, just need to install it on my bike. Again I say I would post pics if I knew how. Any sugestions?
  8. Just wanted to give a shout out/thumbs up to tazmocycle. I posted abbout needing some stuff and he came through on most of what I asked about and for that I would like to say "Thank You". Still working on a drivers backrest. As some of you know we tend to slow down as we get older, hahahahaha!
  9. I too have been looking for a drivers backrest for my 96. I think I am going to fabricate a bracket and make my own pad since I know how to do upholstery work, wish me luck.
  10. Do you want to get rid of the pipes you have on the bike? I might be in terested.
  11. Here is were I am in my thought pattern (crazy as it may be). I posted request for some items a while back and have not had any productive responses. Since I can't afford new stuff, being retired and all I was reading the Pay It Forward section of the site and thought this might work. I have a 1996 RSTC and need a drivers back rest. Can't ride as long as I would like with a bad back so here is my idea. If some one that has a drivers back rest that would fit my bike and is willing to send me pictures of the system mounted on the seat and would make me a cardboard pattern of the mounting frame work I can make one. I have done some upholstery work and can make the pad portion. In turn (if this works) I can provide the pad portion to help someone who might be in the same position as I am with getting a back rest for their ride. I still need a lugage rack and replacement windshield but one step at a time. Any takers? Be Blessed, SummerBreeze
  12. Prayers on the way. I found when I had open heart that unless you have someone who is keeping an eye on the doctors and nurses that the quality of care you get goes down hill fast. Keep a watch and I will keep praying.
  13. I am interested in parts, let me know what you have and price. Thanks
  14. Can a rear differential from a v-max be bolted directly into my 96 RSTC or does the RSTC houseing have to be used and install the v-max gears? If the latter is the case what is involved with installing v-max gears? Thanks, hope everyone is having a GREAT WEEKEND!!!!!
  15. You never know I might get up that way one day, stranger things have happened. Hope your efforts working on your bike have paid off, I sure love mine. Blessings, David
  16. I need to replace the windshield on my bike and I would like to add a drivers back rest, and a lugage rack on the back. If anyone has any or all of these items I would appreicate a reply. Now on a good note, the wife and I went for a 150 mile ride today with some of our friends and I have to saywhat a Great God we have . Today was perfect.
  17. Might try going to a local sign making shop and ask if they can match the color or use gloss black on each side to match with a piece of material like they use do do wraps on NASCAR's. Then you could lightly sand with say 1000 grit to remove any rough edges and do peel and stick.
  18. Great looking bike. Could you PM me details and sources that you used in the up-dates you made. Most of them are on my bucket list for this winter but source info would be great.
  19. Well I have set the float levels in my carbs and Sweetie (bikes new nick name) is running great, so for now I just want to ride some. I am looking for a drivers back rest and lugage rack to go behind the sissy bar/back rest. If any one has these items they are willing to part with or can recomend the best options that will fit my bike I would appreicate feedback. I also want to convert to a led tail light assy so info for one of those would be helpful also. Hope everyone is keeping the sunny side up.
  20. Something that I do on all of my vehicles is to get a maginet(i.e. from an old speaker of at the craft shop) and put it on the bottom of the oil filter. just my two cents worth.
  21. Great article by Mr. Nichols, now all I have to do is determine what is the best donor bike for the transition and find a set. Thanks guys for the feed back.
  22. Short history-- bought a 1996 RSTC that had been stored for ten plus years Did all the things to make it road worthy (or so I thought)i.e. all fliud changes, new tires etc. Pulled 28 mm carbs apart and cleaned everything. Synced carbs after I fired it off. Ran fine for a few rides. Now it is getting lazy, running rich and fouled the new plugs. After reading info on the site that relates to carbs I think the diaphrams have gone bad due sitting for so long before putting back in service. I understand that the 28 mm carbs are less desirable that 32mm carbs and before I invest any more $$ in the set I have I would like to consider changeing to the 32 mmcarbs. So my question is does anyone have the carbs and info I neeed to do the conversion that they are willing to part with or can you guys tell me what year and bike I need to look at that will have the right carbs for the conversion. Any information will be greatley appreicated. At a later date I will be doing the V-max gear and possibley cam change. Keep in mind that I am new to the Yamaha world but I am not scared to tackle anything mechanical (with your help of course). Luv the site and look forward to your response.
  23. I say first ride only because I didn't have to worry about anything on the bike. I went for a 60 mile first ride and my expectations were far exceeded. Only reason I didn't ride all day is because I had a doctor appointment, but there is always tomorrow. I just want to thank all of the great replys I got from the folks on this site to help me get the bugs worked out.
