  1. Exactly the page I ordered from but revived something completely different...I should have taken a photo before I packed them back up and sent them back.
  2. Can you post or send me a link to the ones you're looking at? I'm pulling my fairing apart in the next few weeks to do my HID, Light Bar, GPS & speakers and really would like to have the LEDs in the light bar from the start.
  3. I ordered these off Amazon the other day: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013OVKT8E/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1 What was sent was drastically smaller (3-3/4" round), were black (not chrome) and had a large mounting gimbal that was not removable. Also one of the optics was loose within the housing, obviously back they went. Research who you're buying from because what I received was not what was shown in the photos in the listing.
  4. My perspective is that a MC is a luxury item and not necessarily a "daily rider" and there has to be something out there for everyone's budget. I don't mind turning a wrench (or else I wouldn't be able to afford my boat, jet skis & a MC) and can keep older motors running quite easily. My question to you...what happens between 5 yrs old (new) and 25 yrs old (classic)? Someone has to maintain these things; I'd rather have a nicely maintained and regularly used MC than one that sat. I see people selling bikes that are 20 yrs old "like new" with only a few thousand miles, to me that's a bike that will have issues from dry rotted gaskets and general lack of timely maintenance. I'm not trying to pick a fight but simply let the original post know that there's someone out there for every budget, and a nice clean used bike has it's place in the market.
  5. So with that mentally you'd never own a classic car or motorcycle? Just because it is older doesn't mean it looses all value. I paid $3,200 in 2013 for a basically stock '99 with 40k miles in the greater Chicago area. Bike was very clean and well maintained and other than basic maintenance or modification I wanted to do it has been an absolutely perfect machine. I regularly see newer ones listed in the $6-8,000 range but this market tends to be higher priced than most.
  6. RS Warriors were FI from the start in '02. They did come from the factory with a "water heater" for a muffler but there are a lot of aftermarket options. Neither of these are mine...I currently "posses" an '07 with the later model radial brakes & different wheels, but otherwise identical to the top grey bike. My riding buddy has a similar '06 I believe.
  7. I did measure my OEM rotors vs the Stratoliner rotors and they are they appear to be interchangeable. I wouldn't hesitate to use the RSV rotors, but I was able to upgrade mine CHEAP to full floating rotors from the Strat. Note that the RSV has that weight in the big chrome cover and the Strat has a weight in the little cover shown in my photo. I don't think anyone here ever gave a good reason to the weight, I think it's to slightly counteract the driveshaft torque...but many of us have removed them.
  8. Handling - I purchased the bike with a well worn Bridgestone 150 width front tire and the bike handled like a Mack truck... I went to a new 130 width on the 18" wheel (stock Stratoliner size mentioned above) and it lightened the steering up considerably. I don't know if it is any better than the factory rim with a 130-16" but it definitely looks better! Modifications (none really) - I purchased new wheel bearings, center spacer, axle spacers directly from the RSV parts catalog; chrome bolts from Ace Hardware to mount the rotors and it fit right in with the Road Star Warrior big brake kit I already had fitted to the bike on the factory front axle.
  9. Ever looked into the RS Warrior? 1700cc V-Twin with the front suspension off the previous generation R1 and a 200 rear wheel. A V-bak, Power Tuner & a set of Samson ground pounders it's a pretty sweet ride. 1st gens (02-05) can be found around here for under $5k, even came a cross a few for under $3k in serviceable shape.
  10. 1. Old app that is no longer available,"improved' app doesn't carry the same functions 2. Does not function on "newer" devices that have CAST built into the OS
  11. The Comcast App on my phone & tablet is not Cast-able to my Vizio Chromecast TV in the basement. Do you have a work around or is there something I'm missing? If so I might be buying a few new TV's and dropping the extra cable boxes in the house.
  12. I have Comcast on the living room & family room TVs and for internet, all the other TVs in the house (bedroom, basement play room, workshop) are on ChromeCast and fed from the phone with Netflix or YouTube. I've been looking into getting a cracked firestick but just haven't pulled the trigger yet.
  13. 1st thing I ask when someone talks to me about "wanting to ride" Do you want to ride or do you want a Harley? If you want to ride I can get you on a nice bike for under $3k, if you want a Harley you'll need double that in Lifestyle clothing alone...
  14. Polaris intended to give Indian it's own identity, thus a unique engine that obviously will go through growing-pains in the first few years of implementing a brand new design. Using an S&S crate engine like the Gilroy bikes would have made it "just another Harley clone."
  15. Well if you rock steeliest - did you try a magnet to fish out the broken high-E?
  16. Saw that bike on CL a few days ago and it's not to far from my aunts house. Debated taking a look as a sidecar rig would be pretty cool with my little one. Need to finish the bathroom 1st since all the materials are stacked up in my workshop where I store the bike.
  17. I agree that it would probably be to focus all R&D into the Indian brand. I could see them reconfigure Victory "cruiser" line-up into future Indian models but I think the bagger & touring line is a little to aggressive styling.
  18. I've seen some write-ups on here that the RSV headlight is part of the mounting bracket, in order to mount a new lens and/or housing you have to do some cutting to the factory bucket. I've been keeping an eye out on CL or eBay for a busted glass lens so I can keep my original when I do get around to modifying mine.
  19. I noteced the sweet smell of coolant a few weeks back when I did the Chicago Toys for Tots run. A few weeks of sitting in the cold and those little rubber plugs started weeping. Does someone have the part number or maybe the eBay listing where you found them for $5?
  20. I put in my letter of resignation today at my office and starting at a new engineering firm come Jan. 30th. I go from an hour (to hour 1 1/2) commute through the City of Chicago to a 20-30 min commute towards the farm fields of NW Indiana. Hopefully the wife lets me start commuting on the bike again, that go revoked after a rush-hour accident 3 years back that knocked me off the bike in the middle of one of our busiest highway interchanges. 12 years of 100-mile round trip commute...I don't know what I'm going to do with the extra time!
  21. Back in the late 80's I remember a streak of "cold days" that school was closed on the south side of Chicago, something like -20's or even -30's with -50 wind chill.
  22. I'd like to know what model Shinko? I ran a 230 Tourmaster on the rear for the past 2 years and had probably 8k-9k miles on it as a mildly agressive rider, the tire stuck great dry or rain (even some snow). While I agree the Dunlop E3 is a far superior tire, it costs 2-3 times as much as I pay for my Shinko.
  23. Last year I saw Puc while crossing the Mackinac Bridge and said to the wife "Hey, I know him" and get the usuall response of "Uh-hu" with the eye roll. So we're cruising up the lake and I said "I've chatted with a guy from around here" and the response "Oh, another one of your internet friends?"
  24. Whole front end teardown: New head bearings lower front forks (either new springs or slide them up, need to check funds) hardwire the Zumo GPS HID Headlight LED Spot Lamps Fix the "freeze plug" coolant leak and fix a slow leak in the Stratoliner front wheel RS Warrior is getting a new front tire But I ended up with a pile of garden tractors & snow throwers that people dropped up stuffed into my workshop that need attention before I can get to the bikes.
  25. They called for the same "Big Snow" o 5-10" down here in Chicago and I was hoping to get my new (to me) Deere tractor & snowthrower out for a 1st run but ended up only getting like 3" total. Speaking of...I picked up the thrower a few weeks back in NW Milwaukee and we took the scenic route up the lake front and past the Crazy house in your neck of WI.
