  1. I put in a request for kendas. I will advise when I hear one way or the other. VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I ran the 888 on the rear of my RSV when I first bought it in 2013 and it took 50 psi and blew the parts out of my slime air pump. VentureFar Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Always wave and usually first. On divided highways in unpopulated areas I raise and open hand so it can be seen. I am a very friendly kind of guy on the road. VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Kenda’s don’t get mentioned often. I used them exclusively on my dirt bike for 10 years and 8000 miles. I am going to ask for a set of Kenda Kruz and see if I can get them. Thanks RedRider VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Anyone know what the most expensive tires are? VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I have these in the bike right now. Did the ride report. My conclusion is this tire was made for this bike in terms of roadability, steering, cornering, comfort. Old school pirelli’s are cheap and a good fit, BUT I have them on now and already road tested them. For long life and rain stability I have had two sets of ME880’s and one time put ME 888 on the rear but the 888 required 50 psi and that was a pain to maintain with a motorcycle sized air pump. In fact I killed a slump pump and they replaced it with a high capacity pump at no charge. Remember this isn’t “what should I buy” it is what should I test for everyone “ VentureFar... 7. Mates, which tire do you NOT have experience with that you have thought about buying? VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. This was my last tire ride report : https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/2018/06/18/pirelli-mt-66-route-tire-review-an-oldie-but-goodie/ VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Hi all My good friends at ultimatemotorcycling.com have asked me to road test any tires except Dunlop and Pirelli because those were done by them ( and me) recently. What tire haven’t you put on your own Gen 2 but are curious about? For the Gen 2 Venture: What tire would you like me to test and give my personal opinion on? I am not an engineer or racer. I am 120,000 mile street rider who will do the best I can to share how they feel, how they react to varying road conditions etc. Help me help US by chiming in. Thanks all. VentureFar... 10. MSR bottle. Only smell if you over fill them then it is the outside that smells. VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Sorry to hear about this. I have a crazy lifetime friend who lives on a very twisty 50 mile two land road. When he was waiting for surgery he was dizzy like you sound. He just focused on the centerline and no matter what his head told him he kept his bike 4 feet from the line - regardless of where it went. I told you he is crazy. He survived the riding and the surgery. We all pray your diagnosis and treatment will bring a swift cure. VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I did a ride report on a 560 mile day ride to get the feel of the Eluder. Here is my report for ultimate motorcycling .com https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/2018/02/07/2018-yamaha-star-eluder-test-death-valley-bust/ VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Wow what everyone has said is what I have experienced for 6 years and 40,000 miles. 130 front tire, raised the rear. Ride like a pro techniques all matter on this bike. I am a weekend rider and solo I am comfortable after a few hours. On a week long road trip to sturgis I feel one with the bike after about 3 days in the saddle. Two up I am always tentative. I will share with you and you can find my review. I did a weekend review of the star venture and I was comfortable solo and two up within the first few hours. Low center of gravity and didn’t have the tendency to stall at low rpm I love my 2007 but but if I win the lottery I would buy a new star venture for the handling. Oh and no matter how hard I try for the cool look of one foot down at a light- it is always two and concerned if one is landing on a pebble. VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. And how would you propose I test it? By crashing? Not me :-) VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Checking into the availability of bates bomber boots to review. Talking about mesh hi viz. I was surprised the mesh was black. My alter ego 3 mesh is red. It’s expensive and you would have to try it on but I would buy - if it works: Joe Rocket 1516-4604 Phoenix Ion Men's Mesh Motorcycle Jacket (Hi-Viz Neon) And the joe rocket 4 alter ego Then when it is hot or possible rain use the ion with the outer in your bag. When it is cold use the alter ego all together as designed. Hey, it isn’t my hard earned dollars ... VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Cool. I will check them out. VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Videoarizona nice articulation of your gear requirements but I need make and model to ask for the product to test. As for jackets my daily preference is the joe rocket alter ego 4. I had the original and the 3 and then got the 4 to test. Although there is not a pocket to put the outer wind and rain cover into I think everything else you mentioned is. With the outer on to protect from the hot wind my bilt cooling vest will last gas stop to gas stop. If crazy hot like 110 air temp and above the 8 pounds ice bag I buy and put against my chest will last two gas stops with the outer on and I am very comfortable. Here is my write up on the 4 from a year ago. Oh- just remembered there is no pass through from the outer to the inner so if you want access to something you keep in a pocket in the inner you will need to transfer it to the outer. Again if you or anyone reading this thread has a make and model of a motorcycle specific gear they want tested let me know and I will try. Here is my report. https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/2018/06/29/joe-rocket-alter-ego-4-1-jacket-review-good-for-70000-miles-like-original/ VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Anyone know of any Motorcycle specific brand boots that have mesh or venting? I would love to review them if the magazine will get them for me. VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Hi all As many of you know I am fortunate to have as neighbor the editor of ultimatemotorcycling.com magazine. I have reviewed a helmet, two jackets, gloves, pants and boots and the new star venture and Eluder He just asked if I wanted to review anything other gear and I don’t know what to ask for. Please help me with some ideas. Is there a piece of motorcycle industry specific riding gear that has a hefty price tag on it that you were hesitant to purchase due to not knowing if you would like it or not? Shout it out. Thanks for your help. VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Hi all. This being friends with a motorcycle magazine editor is awesome. I highly recommend it! @cowpuc I know he would love your reviews better than mine for sure. Here is my review of the TCX Fire waterproof engineer boot. Hope you all enjoy. https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/2019/07/27/tcx-fuel-waterproof-boots-review-vintage-motorcycle-boots/ VentureFar... 22. You know what happens if you are going 70mph on a down hill freeway off ramp and you go 3 oil changes without swapping the the rear pads? You hit the rear brake and the piston pops loose because there is nothing in front of it and brake fluid sprays all over the tire. Did I mention that the rear break isn’t working and trying to kill at the same time? And I scored the rotor so badly I needed a new one. Now I swap the rear pads every oil change. Lesson learned. 23. I am watching ! and thanks for watching out for me . VentureFar...
  24. Call kisantech.com and ask. I bought an led headlight before checking and called them after to find out they have an led bulb modular- a darn expensive one. I opted not to buy the modulator so now I have an led bulb in my tool chest collecting dust. VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
