A reasonable performance upgrade to the Sling is a Cold Air Induction from Hann Racecraft. It is also Ram air and it really provides a boost of power especially coming out of a turn on roads like the Dragon!

About 7 or 8 months ago we tossed our Select Comfort air raft crap-o-pedic mattress and took a shot in the dark at a "Brentwood Home" 13" thick Olympic Queen size memory foam mattress and couldn't be happier. It has the Bamboo Cover and is made of all Eco-Friendly materials. I bought through Amazon but you can also go direct. I paid less than $600 and it is every bit comparable to a $5K Temperpedic. Highly recommend this.

After seeing @Carbon_One with his in St Charles last year I pulled the trigger on one this March! The wife has never been happier and so far after almost 5000 miles I have no regrets either. Sure, I still think about the RSV at times but that goes away as soon as I get behind the wheel and pull away, it truly is a blast to drive that keeps getting better!

Having allergies to all grasses, trees, molds, dust mites and basically anything you breath in I know exactly what you are going through. There is no worse feeling than not being able to breath freely. I have had 2 major reconstructive sinus surgeries but because of the allergies I still have difficulty. Might I suggest "Flonase" instead of Afrin or Sinex. It is now available over the counter and it treats allergies without shrinking the sinus membranes like the others do. I still do use Sinex as sparingly as possible just to get by. Good luck to you and fight on, it is tougher than many realize.

I'm 6' 3" and 270 lbs. For me the passenger side is a bit cramped but behind the wheel is just fine with plenty of leg room, need to notch up the seat to be comfortable pushing the clutch in fully. Rivco and Bushtech make hitches for the Slingshot.

Have only had it for a day but by the look of it the storage behind the seats is larger than the RSV saddlebags but all said and done it seems to be a bit less. However, I have seen pictures of Sissy Bar bags on the roll hoops. That would provide more space than we will ever need. Thanks for asking, Garhy

The ride to and from the International in St. Charles last year really took a toll on the wife and myself. I don't know if it was fighting the weather and cross winds or maybe just getting older (it must be the weather!) but we were pretty beat. We starting thinking about ways to make the long trips easier. First we thought of a trailer for the bike but without a vehicle to pull it and no room to store a trailer that was not a good option, besides it kind of defeats the purpose of the trip. Then we thought maybe a trike kit. Instead we decided last fall to test drive a Can-Am Spyder. It was comfortable with plenty of power and a smooth ride. We almost pulled the trigger on it but just could not get over the feeling of being thrown off taking corners and how sensitive the steering was in general. What to do what to do, a couple of weeks ago it was a beautiful Saturday and we were able to test drive a Polaris Slingshot. It was love at first ride! I can now understand why @Carbon_One loves his so much. Larry had his in St. Charles and it really got me thinking. One of the most attractive aspects of this for us is that the state of Illinois has designated the Slingshot as an "Auto-Cycle". Not sure exactly what an Auto-Cycle is but it does not require a MOTORCYCLE LICENSE which means the wife can also drive it. With her being able to give me a break for a couple of hours here and there our range just increased dramatically. We will now be able to visit places that were thought to be out of reach for us before. And by the way, it is a freakin blast to drive and an open air feel that rivals the bike and that is exactly what we were looking for. So yesterday I bundled up and took the RSV to the dealer and now we have this for our very own.. .. Thou we are now Ventureless we will always be Ventureriders! Gary

I had a bluetooth adapter that ruined my aux port from bouncing down rough roads. Got a Bluetooth cassette adapter from Bestbuy that works great, better volume control no connection problems what so ever.

I had one very similar to this. It worked great but one word of caution. Use a short patch cord to connect it to the aux input and rest it on the cassette door. I plugged mine in like in the picture and after some rough roads and even thou it was resting on the cassette door, the weight of the unit bouncing ruined my aux input. Now I can't make a good connection plugging anything into it.

Last time I checked it was! Very glad to see this weekend, I might just be able to make it.

I for one would sure hate to see this club dissolve. I was a "lurker" here for a few years before actually joining. I was of the opinion that I would never join a club that would have someone like me as a member but after meeting so many that are as defective as I am I can honestly say that I have never been blessed with the opportunity to meet (both on line and in person) a finer group of people that I truly consider "family"! Sure, the technical aspect of this site is amazing as we all know, but the social aspect cannot be replaced. I can only hope that this club will continue even after we are one day gone. I had one also back in 83 or 84.Itwas great, you could get direct sport feeds and see behind the comercials without the comentaters not to mention free premium channels and feeds from across the country! There was the continuing upgrades to polar rotor motors and feed horns but that was kind of like a hobby.

Some years ago I had Diretv, my in laws had Dish. We were about 12 mile apart. When it even looked like rain they would have problems even after many times of having the dish adjusted with no improvement. Yes, I would sometimes lose signal but it had to be a very bad storm. I now have Uverse from AT&T and am very happy with the fiber optic delivery.

I could not agree more. I have not voted yet myself waiting to see which are the top contenders. I may want a location that only has a few votes, I would rather choose between the front runners than throw away my vote. Knowing that there will be a run off vote I would vote for what may be considered to have little chance and see if others join in or not.

Does anyone know anything about the http://unforgotten-riders.org/? They are having a fund raising ride through northern Illinios on Sept.13th. It sounds like a worthy cause but there are so many causes out there it is hard to tell which ones are truly legit.

The wife and I look forward to a once a year get together like this. If it was like a regional which is in the same location every year then yes, it would get boring to say the least but being in a new location is what keeps it fresh and exciting year after year.

if it's about a prize cost and loss?? don't buy nothing! I go to the events to see the folks and share the b/s the rides in locations that are different are a bonus, not a requirement. I couldn't agree more!

IMHO, there is something about an "International" rally that meet & eats and maint. days just don't have. Calling on all members from anywhere and everywhere to attend just reaches out as a very special event for me anyway. I can't express how much I appreciate the hard work involved (something I couldn't do if my life depended on it!) and year long planning it takes to pull it off. The reason I joined VR in the first place was the Galena rally which was outstanding. The next in Ala. was great in it's own way, people make it that way. This year was even better with so many members that I had not met before. To lose this special event and reduce it to a small get togethers would be a shame.
