BlueSky Posted November 14 #1 Posted November 14 (edited) Yes, Wednesday I sold my 1998 18' Boston Whaler Ventura. I bought it in 2007. My wife and I enjoyed it very much but we are older and just didn't use it much any more. I sold it to a young couple who plan to have a lot of fun with it. Hopefully, it will serve them well. Freebird Posted November 14 #2 Posted November 14 Those Boston Whalers are nice boats. I’m sure you will miss it. I understand though. I sold my last boat a couple of years ago. Same reason you did. I still have two Yamaha Waverunners and never took them out this year and only once last year. I really should sell them too. 3
BratmanXj Posted November 15 #3 Posted November 15 The family's pontoon boat is 25yrs old and just keeps plugging along... Mom is 77 and decided this year she wanted a new boat. We picked up a '21 Trifecta with 20hrs on it last weekend in an early season snowstorm in Indiana. Hopefully this one serves us as well as the last one. The sellers oldest brother bought it as a "last hurrah" when he was diagnosed with cancer 2yrs ago. The other brothers were happy to see it go to a family that would take care of it and treasure it. They are local to our cottage and we told them they have an open initiation to come take a ride anytime. 3
BlueSky Posted November 15 Author #4 Posted November 15 I'm 81 with heart issues. And mostly, I just didn't use the boat any more. I'm sure I will miss it. It's such a great feeling to be out on the water in my own boat!
RDawson Posted November 15 #5 Posted November 15 I need a 2nd happy day for the pontoon. I use the fishing boat a lot, we live 10 minutes away from KY Lake which is one of the largest man made lakes. 160,000 surface acres 100% free to use. I spend more time cleaning the pontoon than we’ve ever used it. 3
uncledj Posted Wednesday at 09:58 AM #6 Posted Wednesday at 09:58 AM They say the same thing about RVs. I've no complaints. I rarely use it, but it's nice to have when I do use it. 2

I've had a TT before when my kids were young. I don't know if my current wife would like living in one. She thinks she would. My 2023 Nissan Titan Pro4X is capable of pulling one and it came with the built in brake control.
uncledj Posted yesterday at 10:43 AM #8 Posted yesterday at 10:43 AM I don't know that I'd want to live in one, but the nice thing about a RV is that you're taking a bit of "Home" with you. Everything doesn't seem quite as foreign when you have a small, familiar place to retreat to. I find that I'm typically a bit more comfortable in my small motorhome than in a hotel room. 2
BlueSky Posted 22 hours ago Author #9 Posted 22 hours ago We are thinking of maybe taking a TT to Florida and living in it for a month at a time after my wife retires. Hotels cost a fortune for an extended stay. And as stated it is your own place which we would like. It's hard to get but a camping site in Bahai Honda State Park would be ideal. My next to last contract job (3 1/2 years) I lived in Homestead FL, close to the Keys and we loved it down there. We fished a lot, soaked in the warm clear water a lot, went to Key West a lot, just thoroughly enjoying the area. We also saw many tourist attractions around Miami and southern Florida. It was my favorite contract job location. Now, we spend a week in the FL Keys almost every year.
uncledj Posted 19 hours ago #10 Posted 19 hours ago I lived in Key Largo for a couple of years in the mid 80s. I was doing contract work at Turkey Point power plant outside of Homestead. Actually bought a house at MM98. Wished I'd kept it....My cellphone bill today is more than my mortgage payment was then. Been back a couple of times and while I also love it down there, it's not the same as it was. A lot more traffic and congestion. I still like going back though. Penney Camp Park was pretty cool.
BlueSky Posted 28 minutes ago Author #11 Posted 28 minutes ago I was working at the Turkey Point Nuclear Plant during my stay in Homestead from Jan 10, 2010 until August 31, 2013 during the power uprate modifications. During that time housing was dirt cheap after the recession. A nice 1800 sq ft home could be bought for about $130k. I should have bought one. I say one home go on the market that was almost new, 6000 sq ft, on 7 acres that was priced about $330k. We went to Penney camp too a few times. There were a lot of burglaries at that time so it prompted me and my wife to get concealed carry permits. We used to stop at the indoor range/gun shop in Key Largo and practice before going fishing on the weekends. I rode my Kawasaki to work every day I could. Lots of good memories.
