Skid Posted April 4, 2017 Share #1 Posted April 4, 2017 (edited) Just checking if anyone else had the same issue. Yesterday I went to put the new registration sticker on the plate and discovered the license plate bracket broken. The extra weight of the HD lights is supported by these same bolts that holds the plate on. I had a guy to tack weld the bracket, smooth it down and painted it. Can't see it anyway since it's behind the registration plate. But if you have the HD lights you may want to check the license plate bracket. djh3 Posted April 5, 2017 Share #2 Posted April 5, 2017 I think I remember reading something about that a few years back. Would some large fender washers and maybe file them down so you cant see them help out displace the stress.
Skid Posted April 5, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted April 5, 2017 (edited) Bigger washers may help. The lights are heavy and all held by the two bolts Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Edited April 5, 2017 by Skid
Freebird Posted April 5, 2017 Share #4 Posted April 5, 2017 I've seen it before. Never happened to me but thank's for the reminder. I have a brace at home that I haven't installed that fits behind it. I guess I need to install it.
ragtop69gs Posted April 5, 2017 Share #5 Posted April 5, 2017 Same happened to me a few years ago. I pulled it apart and welded the bracket, problem solved. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
Skid Posted April 5, 2017 Author Share #6 Posted April 5, 2017 I know several members using the HD lights and just wanted to let everyone know to check before they come crashing down while going down the road...

Karaboo Posted April 5, 2017 Share #8 Posted April 5, 2017 Those HD parts are trying to revert to their natural state, which is laying on the shoulder of the road.
sleepy2 Posted April 15, 2017 Share #9 Posted April 15, 2017 I had the same problem with that bracket. Tried to get replacement but they wanted way too much for one.(cost of part plus shipping--sometimes double what part cost). So I ended up making my own from flat steel and bent it close to original shape. Not perfect but works. Haven't had a problem with it .
