MickO Posted April 1, 2008 Share #1 Posted April 1, 2008 I am considering the purchase of a set of the Baker Air Wings for my 2006 RSV. I was very pleased with the Baker Wing's performance on my last bike (1999 Valkyrie Interstate). What kind of experience have others had on their Venture? One area of concern I have is the method in which the wings are attached to the bike. I appears that they are only attached at the lower engine crash bars. Does this provide enough support? Thx. From all I have read they are sturdy and provide good protection and air flow. Yamaha also makes a similar product. REDRIDER52 Posted April 1, 2008 Share #6 Posted April 1, 2008 For my opinion Tried Bakers at Americade one year they did divert wind and rain BUT THEY GOT IN THE WAY WHEN I SHIFTED GEARS HIT TOE OF BOOTS ON THE MOUNTING BRACKET. I am not sure but I think they attach to the top of the crash bar and are designed to fit into the natural shape of the side of the shroud. BigShell Posted April 2, 2008 Share #10 Posted April 2, 2008 I took the Bakers off and put Yamahas on. I liked the upper wing on the Baker but the Yamaha has a better lower deflector and mounting. One of these days I'm going to try to fabricate the best of both into one unit... but that is way down on my list and my stuff is way down on my wife's list! MickO Posted April 2, 2008 Author Share #11 Posted April 2, 2008 One of the things I am noticing on my (new to me) RSV is the amount of air (and probably rain) that hits the knee area and upper shin. It sounds like people generally prefer the fit and general function of the yamaha wings, but maybe the bakers do a better job of deflecting wind and rain due to the "upper wings"? One thing about these venturers is they are a vary hot ride when the temp. gets over 75%. But that is the only thing I have found that I do not like about them. 1sttenor Posted April 3, 2008 Share #16 Posted April 3, 2008 I have the Bakers...I like the air in the summer. No, they do not divert the rain off the knees but I always wear leathers. In the cold weather they really will knock the wind off you, thanks to the uppers. I use the clamps for pegs as well. They don't get in my way shifting. Have only had the bike for a month and they were already there so I have not had a chance to try them in the heat of summer yet but I think they will work well! Billet Posted April 11, 2008 Share #20 Posted April 11, 2008 Here you go. Like I said I didn't install them. Looks like if you have highway pegs they would just fit between the peg and the mount. There is a tab welded to the 1/2" square Air Wing support rod. If you don't have pegs you would have to come up with a clamp I guess. Gruntman0311 Posted May 5, 2008 Share #22 Posted May 5, 2008 I put the Baker Wings on my RSV 08 for two months and took them off. They get in the way and could not notice much of a differance.
