Gas Smell on deceleration

Had the carbs synced by a local dealer friend about 1000 mi. ago on my 08 RSV with 14000 miles and have notice a gas odor on deceleration. No poping, just a smell of unburned gas??? Any tech wizzards have any suggestions?

A carb sync should have nothing to do with gas smell.

 

Just a couple of WAGs;

 

Check for a gas leak.

 

Float adjustment.

 

Gas tank filler cap seal.

The normal exhaust pollutants are merely catching up with you!

Next time, don't have a friend do the work, hire a professional.

BTW, check the cold start enrichment system (choke).

Awhile after I bought my 06 I could smell fumes....it was determined that I had a leak (on both sides) on the back of the "Y" pipe in the exhaust. They replaced them under Warranty.

I had the same problem also. Mixture was too rich and carb floats were out of spec. Mixture was the main problem.

when i first got my 99 i smelled gas but i found out i had the gas cap on crocked the arrow was pointing to the 1 oclock position since then no gas smell.
