Oil Question??

What is everybody using for oil in these old V4's. Standard 15w40 or the Mobile1 synthetic? I used Mobile1 VTwin in my Buell but not sure about my 85 as it is new to me. Older bikes in the past I used just regular 15w40??

 

Only 55000kms.

Avoid the friction mode refiners. I have been using Castrol 20/50 for years. Choose a good oil and change as you should

Just make sure the container doesnt have "Energy Conserving" anywhere on the label or it will probably cause your clutch to slip. A ton of PPL here are using Shell Rotella T

8 bucks a quart?? How much for filter?? Castrol around 3 bucks a quart. Advance Auto has filters for 3 bucks...

Yup....just got a fram filter from Cdn Tire for $10 and Castrol 20W50 5lL jug for $25.

I use Shell Rotella T from Walmart $13/gal. Fram or Wix filter.

When you say olive oil, are you including Pure Virgin Olive Oil :think:

 

 

I have ran the Amsoil synthetic motor oil in my 89VR but switched back regular non-synthetic oil . I found my engine sounded a lot more mechanically noisy with the synthetic, speacially the vlaves.
