Goose did some experimentation with standard and iridium plugs once and there was no difference in performance or MPG with the iridium over the standard. BoomerCPO Posted August 10, 2012 Share #4 Posted August 10, 2012 My 1st set of NGK Iridium plugs were changed out when I had put 60K on them. They looked as good as the day they were installed. I for one am very happy with the performance of these plugs. Can't say if they increased my mpg or not cuz I don't waste my time with mpg stats....more fun to just enjoy the ride and get gas when needed! Thoughts on Iridiums... - less wear of gap to extend life at proper gap - less chance of fouling - longer life I've used Iridium plugs whenever I can on whatever vehicle I can. djh3 Posted August 11, 2012 Share #7 Posted August 11, 2012 OK so heres a simular question. Gap type plugs or the "gapless" fire to side or whatever. Not the standard center electrode over pin. I pulled a set of factory Iridiums out of the wifes Durango with about 110K. they were burnt up but what the hect do you expect with that many miles and 10yrs.
