This is one of the places I wanted to visit while we were at the Cody Round Up a couple of years ago.

 

It is definately going to be on my agendy this year while at the International.

YA! That is one of the places I want to visit before I kick the bucket. I'm a big Sci-Fi nerd, so after watching Close Encounters of the Third Kind, it and the location in California, Vasquez Rocks, where they shot the Captain Kirk and Gorn fight scene, as well as many other movie and tv scenes, are both on my "Bucket list".

And of course the list would go on. Niagara Falls was in Superman II, so that would be another place to visit. Well, for that reason, and the awesome natural scenery.

For anyone coming or going east, to or from, Cody it looks really cool, but for a day ride out of Cody, during the rally, it might be a little too far. The map sez 314 miles one direction. DEVILS TOWER

Hmm looks like we'll have to do this either before or after the rally due to time constraints.

not that i'm going to the rally in WY...but when we were out that way 2ce now, I found the Devil's tower to be the most over-rated, lack-luster destination of the entire area. We only went the 2nd time for the photo-op and didn't even go right up TO it that time.

 

The ride out TO it, isn't anything to write home about either.

 

BUT...that's just MHO.

If you go from Cody make sure you take HWY 14a for great riding and scenery. Awesome road

We're 18 miles south of Devils Tower, as the crow flies. The scenery is pretty and the roads aren't bad, assuming you stay on the pavement.

 

Give us a holler if any of you come this way...
