As you can see she needs a good bath and a lot of TLC. Just thought I would share. Shaun

It looks like she'll clean up nicely and make you proud! I have a soft place in my heart for the '83's. I always thought those models were the best looking 1st Gens. They were sportier... more like a sport-tourer instead of a touring bike. I liked the sweep and size of the bags and the way the pipes looked.

Well the reason I went for this one is that a couple years ago when working some long shifts my car quit at work and a friend of mine loaned me his 89 Venture for the weekend. Ever sense then I have wanted one. Now that I have one my mind is racing with the possibilities, longer rides, more power to allow me to pull a trailer, more comfortable seat, ect...

Yep is does only have 47k miles. Has been sitting for a couple years, the chicken poop stinks to remove, it turns into this white goo when washing it off. My nephew did a GREAT job cleaning the windshield for me, still has a few minor scratches but is nice and clear again. Shaun

Its a blond just like mine. I love it, it is quick, sporty the cross winds don't bother it, and when some four wheeler starts to crowd you.....you just leave. I really like it for solo riding.

Once you get the bugs cleaned out she will do you proud

And a pic of me. Still in my winter fuzz, as my wife puts it. Shaun

Come on now........he's still working on it. When he gets it right and comes back from that first 100 mph blast in 3rd gear with his eyebrows on the back of his head...well...he'll know.

Did anybody warn him about the velcro gloves you need for these things?

More power......cracked me up.

Mo' Money,

Mo' Power

:mo money:

Unless you have some very high end HD's you want to whip, its got enough. They are never gonna whip an FJR or Hyubusi, but I think a VRod is within reach, with a few tweaks.

Myself, I wanted just a tad bit more. But, then I been doing this for a while, been on wheels with a motor hooked to them for 5 decades, since I was 5 years old.

Not really after the top end anymore, 130 ain't as fun as it used to be. But 0-100 is fun, and puts a **** eatin' grin on your face, as they pull up along side and go "What you got in that old thing ?"

Howdy Reddog, I just got an '83 too, same color. No, my wife isn't jealous enough to threaten me with living in the garage; she can't get me out of it now!:)

Big learning curve here. 30 years on Harleys, the last 3 years on a KLR 650. And now my 'antique' Venture.

Let me know what you discover as time goes by.

Have fun.

Yep there is a BIG learning curve with these. I had a Harley for about three months. Got maybe 2 weeks of riding and the rest of the time working on it. Sold it and swore to never own one again. May have just gotten a bad one, But I really enjoy the touring bikes. This venture fit the bill for what I wanted perfectly.

Looking forward to many miles of fun with her, maybe I will take my wife along too. Shaun
