Is there a jet kit for the venture?

Recommended Posts

Hi all. i was wondering if there is an availible jet kit for this bike? I have bub slip-ons (it made a little more power) and when i pulled off the air boxes, the bike ran like poo (too lean). I'm hoping to put on 4 individual K&N filters and it will definatly need more aggressive needles and bigger mains. Is there a kit availible for this bike? The stock intake system is pretty restrictive so i'm hoping this will wake the motor up a little.

Thanks,

James

FactoryPro makes one for the RSV. It is part no. Y92

Good luck. Yamaha designs the airbox to be part of the whole induction system. This V4 isn't like most other motors. Remove the airbox, and the bike will barely run, whether it's a 1st gen or a 2nd gen.

I'd suggest for best performance with your Bubs...

go up one size on each main jet...keep the staggered sizes, but increase each one size. Also, replace the stock 15 pilot jet with a 17.5 pilot jet (same on each carb). K&N air filters, and open up the opening to the airbox, where the air first enters into the airfilter box. It will REALLY bring the V4 to life. And won't hurt the mpg's much either, 2 or 3 mpg's less.

I had my '01 RSV set up like this. With my wife on the back, I could lift the front wheel in first gear (several people here have seen me do it). 0ne-up the rear tire would smoke for about the first 20 or 30 feet. '01 RSV...KIA, June 2007.

This might be worth reading...

Thanks for the response, I'll try this first and see if i like it. I'm at 5000ft above sea level, so my jetting will obviously be different then what everyone else runs. The air induction system is not needed to make a V4 run, cause i have seen Vmax's run individual K&Ns (thus where i got the idea). It's just a matter of butchering the carb up to get it to run right.

Thanks,

James

Hi,

you just can't compare this Stage7 Kit to anything else.

The Stage 7 is a complete Kit with a Lot of Parts to change and modify. Slider-Springs, Air-Reduction on the Intakes and so on ... It's a complete other World and also not just bolt on and you're done with it. There is a lot of tuning needed afterwards.

And, it doesn't fit on your Carbs.

i just cut the holes bigger in the airboxes and jumped up the jetting a bit. Seems to run better, maybe i should get the dyna3000 next. if its still not enough, i'll bolt on the K&ns to the carbs and start screwing with it. I'm no beginner with carbs, so i don't mind trying.

SilvrT- Like i mentioned before, i'm at 5000ft... 20%HP is out the window at this altitude, so its no where near as fast up here.
