Just wondering if anyone is familiar with 25E in KY and TN. We're heading down to Pigeon Forge for a week in the Smokey's and was thinking about taking this route with the motor home and trailer. Any advise? Hilly? Twisty? Maybe better to just check it out on the bike?

I've ridden the stretch from Middlesboro KY to Morristown TN and found it to be pretty scenic but it would not be bad for a motor home. Mainly gentle sweepers over that stretch. It goes over a mountain, House Mountain I think, but that is not bad either. I can't help any before or after that section...

Gary,

Big Mike, Eddie and I came up that way from Vogel a couple of years ago, I would reccomend the route. 4 lanes, hilly and scenic, one long tunnel near the Cumberland Gap. We enjoyed the ride on the scoots and it would be a nice route for the motor home, maybe not the most fuel efficent due to the hills, but their not any worse than I75.

I ran 25E a month or so ago, picked it up out of Middlesboro over to 75 at Corbin (home of the very first KFC). Nice road, there was construction between Flat Lick to the tunnel but it didn't slow traffic too much. I would hope it's completed by now. Should be no problem.

I ran 18 wheeler in that area for 12 years, that was before they 4laned it! Easy ride. Just what route do you plan to run to get to Pigeon Forge. 25 won't take you there, but you obviously know this.

It is an pretty scenic drive. A motor home and trailer would have no troubles. Plus you get to go through the cumberland gap tunnel.

Same here, I have ridden it on the bike and it is very nice. Highly recomend it for your vacation. God Speed, and have a safe trip. The leafs are turning very well here and would assume that they are in about the same colors there in that area. :fishin:

Thank you everyone for the information. I think I just might check it out.

Hey Gary:

You and Mary have a fun, safe trip....and just in case you don't head out until Monday or later, don't forget the barbeque on Sunday....looks like a good turn out for some old dead cow and ice cream!

Sorry I missed the BBQ Randy, I'll be thinking about you while I enjoy a beer and have a BBQ here in Sevierville.

25E was a great ride. Thanks for all the replies everyone.

Gary Enjoy the ride in the South. Bring back some of that nice weather please we could use some up here this year.

Brad

Well, our weather down here is about 29º this morning, but we are looking at low to mid 70's in a couple of days.

I wish I could get with you Gary as I am about 90 miles away, but I am working.

Sorry to disappoint you Tom but don't think I haven't thought about doing just that. We have to be home next week. Hope to head your way after Christmas and probably see you sometime in the winter either on the way to Arizona or the way back.

BTW, a couple of your fellow Texans are camping right next to us. He and his wife are up here to ride the dragon and see the area.
