:bighug:Well, I did it. Couldn't put it off any longer. Even though it is still below freezing here (-3c) in the "north country", the rodes were clear, the bike started just fine after the battery charge, and well, the sun was shining. Only made it 32 km's but it sure was great to get that great feeling again. Now, if it would just warm way up and stay warm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only month I haven't ridden the bike in is January, and it was my own fault for not doing that. I had the bike all apart when we had a couple great days and I didn't have the parts to get it back together in time. Maybe next winter.

No problems here but things could be worse. The scanner was full yesterday with trees down creating brush fires. We had one just 1/2 from here. At 4:00 am there is still 7000 people with no electricity. Many with no source of backup heat. Now the scanner is full of personal injury accidents. People just trying to stay warm at 4:00am.People are to dependent on electricity and many do not have a plan for a outage. Darn cold night to go without.

Well it was a sunny day yesterday with freezing rain in the forecast for today. So at 34 degrees I suited up and took a 150 mile ride with a quick stop at my Mom's to clean some gutters. Felt really good to be out and about. The only thing that was cold was my hands. I just can see to find gloves that will keep my hands warm. I currently use leather, insulated, with a long cuff. Yesterday I even put those handwarmers down in my gloves which helped a little. Anyone have a suggestion for keeping my hands warmer? I suppose it doesn't help that they have been frostbit before. Thanks for any suggestions. J

No no, I ain't giving one away. Lets venture down to Houma LA and soak up the warm for a couple of days. Thinking about leaving within the next 7 days, heading south through Montgomery and on down through Mobile, then on to Houma. Cold beer and mud bugs await, lots of warm temps and even Cycle world is there. Who interested?

Has anyone used Rain-X anti-fog? I have a Clearview shield and I can deal with the rain but when I hit those pockets of warm air in the morning and the whole thing fogs up I just can't see through it.

What if a good way to waterproof leather boots, coats, gloves, etc.? I got my feet soaked a few weeks ago so I cleaned, repolished, then used some waterproofing product in a spraycan. I can't remember what brand right now. On my trip down to Diamond, MO. on Tuesday and Wednesday. I got stuck in the rain, sleet, and snow. My feet still got soaked. I have new gloves that kept my hands pretty dry and warm. My coat kept me warm and dry all the way. I found some stuff from KIWI called WET PRUF. I put it on my gloves and boots and will find out how it works on my way back to Cadott, WI. Well hopefully I won't have to find out if it works. I didn't think about Mink Oil till after the fact. How about Saddle Soap? I assume that's used to clean leather. Doe it waterproof at all? THNX, BILL

With my trust levil down for my venture on cold wheather starting, I will be driving the Silverwing to work. BUT - unlike my warm Venture, that is one cold machine, especially with thin scrub pants on. I am thinking I need a pair of warm overalls or a pair of warm pants that will go over my thin uniform pants. I need something I can get into quickly and easily. Any suggestions? Tom E
