  1. I have lowered the front and rear of my RSV and now need to shorten the kickstand. The shifting linkage prevents the removal of the bolt that holds the kickstand on. Anyone have any experience in changing out the kickstand? I am not knowing if it is better to disconnect the shifting linkage toward the rear or drop the floorboard. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
  2. I am having some airbrush work done on the tank next week. What is the best method for removal of the tank badges? Thanks Phil:confused24:
  3. Can anyone tell me if the CB antena wire unplugs from the base of the antena or not? I don't want to just pull on it in case it's an integral part of the antena.
  4. I just want to convey my appreciation of the information submitted by Cougar on carburetor removal. This BBS system would not allow me to post a 'thank-you' directly. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=7830
  5. Or did Hell freeze over? It's snowing at my house in Georgia! http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_11_8.gif http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Snow%20In%20Georgia/100_1300.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Snow%20In%20Georgia/100_1297.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Snow%20In%20Georgia/100_1301.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Snow%20In%20Georgia/100_1296A.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Snow%20In%20Georgia/100_1298.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Snow%20In%20Georgia/100_1299.jpg It's a good thing Atlanta doubled their snow removal capabilities last week!.......... ....They hired two more Mexicans and bought another snow shovel!!! http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/28/28_4_6.gif
  6. I need to change tires on my first Gen. Guy wants $260 for rear tire and $125 labor to replace. WHAT? I think this is outrageous. So. I look at the tech library for tire removal (http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1393) My question - is this a reasonable thing for a non-mechanic to do - a regular sort of fellow who doesn't know a lot about engines, frames, suspensions and so forth but can turn a bolt?
  7. Google has implemented a new feature which enables you to type a telephone number into the search bar and hit enter and you will be given the person's name and address. If you then hit MapQuest, you will get a map to the person's house. Everyone should be aware of this! It's a nationwide reverse telephone book. If a child gives out his/her phone number, someone can now look it up to find out where he/she lives. The safety issues are obvious, and alarming. Note that you can have your phone number removed or blocked. I tried my number and it cam e up along with the mapquest and directions straight to our house. I did fill out the removal form for myself, and encourage all of you to do the same. Quite scary. Please look up your own number. In order to test whether your phone number is mapped, go to: google (http://www.google.com/) Type your phone number in the search bar (i.e. 555-555-1212) and hit enter. If you want to BLOCK Google from divulging your private information, simply click on your telephone number and then click on the Removal Form. Removal takes 48-hours. Check your own number and although this may not apply to you if you have an unlisted number or cell phone as primary contact, but you may know someone who needs to know this. Please share this information with friends and family.

  9. a word of caution ,to anyone taking the fairing apart on an old bike. mine had two broken tabs, on the right side, so i decided to repair them today. in the screw removal process, i managed to break two more tabs. it seems that the screws have never been removed before. when i turned the screws, the tab turned with it and broke/shattered. i suggest ,if you are gonna split your fairing, spray all the screws with a good penetrating oil and let them sit overnight. now i have a bunch of tabs to build! just jt
  10. Any way to remove grips without cutting them off? I'd like to install a set of handgrip heaters under the grips, but would like to reuse the stock grips. Thanks.
