  2. Yesterday we went for a short ride. I noticed that I would feel what I call "hard bumps" from the rear of the bike that I didn't feel from the front. Almost like I would run over something with the front tire and not feel it, but would feel it from the rear of the bike. I had 70 lbs. in the rear shock and the rebound is set on #2. Is it possible for the shock to be bad and still have that much air press. in it? I haven't been riding much this summer but seem to remember one other time that this happened, but upon checking the air press. then it was down between 40-50 lbs. and it went away when I increased the press. Haven't noticed any oil under the bike in the shock area, but haven't gotten down and really looked. Any info, help will be appreciated. Don H.
  3. i recently pulled my carb diaphragms out. i noticed that the "bottom section", of the tubes, were pretty scratched up. the FIX, is to take the "tube" in one hand, press the diaphragm end into your other palm, twist the tube. this re-orients the "tab" in relation to the scratched tube! i do not believe the rubber coated part is actually "glued " to the insert and washer. i believe it is merely a close press fit. some one correct me, if i'm wrong, here. just jt:banana:
  4. I found this tip on the Venturers site...ordered the caps from Reidsupply and aquired the bolts from local Sears hardware...works great!! Inexspensive alternative to more exspensive mod seen on e-bay and other sites... You can easily make your own quick removal bolt set for your saddlebags. No tools needed to remove the bags for service or cleaning. Parts needed for 1-bike are 6 ea. M6X36 and 2 ea. M6X55 socket head cap screws with 1.0 thread pitch. The t-cap heads can be ordered from Reidsupply.com and the item number is SLK-1200. If you want to see the screws the item # are brb-532086p and brb-532094p and there is a limit of 100 each on the bolts, but not on the plastic T-heads. I was able to find my cap screws locally and I didn't have to buy more then I needed. Check with your local hardware store, Lowe's or Home Depot. Just press the T-Caps onto the bolt heads in a vice or small press. I used a drill press to push them in.   5. Not sure if this is true or not but I think it's pretty good, even if it's not true. Sorry if anyone gets offended, but I just got this in an email. SCHOOL ANSWERING MACHINE This is hilarious - no wonder some people were offended! This is the message that the Pacific Palisades High School California staff voted unanimously to record on their school telephone answering machine. This is the actual answering machine message for the school. This came about because they implemented a policy requiring students and parents to be responsible for their children's absences and missing homework. The school and teachers are being sued by parents who want their children's failing grades changed to passing grades - even though those children were absent 15-30 times during the semester and did not complete enough school work to pass their classes. The outgoing message: Hello! You have reached the automated answering service of your school. In order to assist you in connecting to the right staff member, please listen to all the options before making a selection: To lie about why your child is absent - Press 1 To make excuses for why your child did not do his work -Press 2 To complain about what we do - Press 3 To swear at staff members - Press 4 To ask why you didn't get information that was already enclosed in your newsletter and several flyers mailed to you - Press 5 If you want us to raise your child - Press 6 If you want to reach out and touch, slap or hit someone - Press 7 To request another teacher, for the third time this year - Press 8 To complain about bus transportation - Press 9 To complain about school lunches - Press 0 If you realize this is the real world and your child must be accountable and responsible for his/her own behavior, class work, homework and that it's not the teachers' fault for your child's lack of effort: Hang up and have a nice day! If you want this in Spanish, move to a country that speaks it!

I'd like to recommend a couple of books; they are- 1) Proficient Motorcycling, David Hough- Bowtie Press An excellent read for both beginner as well as experienced riders, never a dull moment with this book. I could not put it down! Lots of photos and diagrams, very well laid out with thorough explanations. Very highly recommended! Four stars. 2) More Proficient Motorcycling, David Hough- Bowtie Press Not as good as the first, nevertheless a good read, although without reading the first one a lot is lost. Still all-in-all a very good read. Highly recommended. Three and a half stars. For those of us still held captive in winter's clutches, :bighug:a great way to kill a few evenings.

Ok so here is my issue (the only thing keeping my venture royale from going down the road) My bike runs mint now bled all the hydralic systems fresh oil change and rearend oil but the clutch wont letgo. I start the bike on the center stand to test everything out, press on the front brake and clutch and kick it into gear, bike starts clunking around a bit and spinning the rear wheel even with the clutch all the way in. if i press on the rear brake it will stall out the engine. any ideas of what needs to be done? I've orderd new clutch springs as I dont realy want to mess with replaceing the whole clutch right now. I'm still new at working on bikes. I do know if I replace one spring at a time I wont end up dissassembling the clutch and it should be a realativly easy job. and just see if that does the trick. Could it be from not enough oil? I put 3 quarts in but not 100% that was enough. I'm working blind as I dont have a manual. bike did sit for 6 years could it fix itself if I just kept running it (clutch sticking from nonuse for so long?)
