  2. Bought my first DEKA several years ago when Condor and I got to comparing them to the Odessy series. The comparison tests and CCA won me over. My first one was in the bike for about 5 years or better i think. Never had a problem. Never charged or on a tender ever. I rode the bike daily and i mean 7 days a week on a service route that meant 20 or more starts a day. I was planning on doing some heavy traveling last summer so i load tested the battery and it was reading out at 25% battery life. Not weak or low volts just a lower life reading so i went ahead and replaced it with a new DEKA. Set the old one aside. This year the bike still gets ridden most every day but it lives out side. Still starts without issue every time even on these subzero temps this winter. Still never been on a charger or tender yet. Neither has the old one. Was working on the bike with a TCI problem last week and had the battery out so just for fun i dropped in the old DEKA. fired right up. I can't say more about the quality or performance of the DEKAs. My battery of choice as long as they are available. From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment.
  3. Thanks Lutz My luck with da ladies lately the next time my bike goes down it will probably be at a lesbian convention. Best I keep it rolling and moving on. LOL Heard from Dingy last night. My new Ingtech system should be here Wednesday. Hopefully get my hands in a windscreen by next weekend. Time to get after the detail stuff. Time to get rolling. 4. Don't have the V drive but sounds like Bob got it. I missed the shaft connection into the u-joint yoke the first time. That makes a heck of a noise on the first swing. Hoping for the best. From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment.

  8. Well it's on its feet again. I finally was able to bribe one of the locals to stop by and lend a hand. He brought his son along so it was a quick fix with the three of us. Surprising there was little damage. Fairing and bags were unmarked. It did eat the lower wind wing which i will miss. Those Bakers were NOS i bought years ago. Of courses the windscreen, my new Cee Bailey was shattered. The fairing is still siting square on the supports. The top of shield appears to be the impact point when it slid under the trailer. I think the full cover is why it slid so easy. Top half cover i keep over the full covet was shredded from the wind. But all in all it faired the storm well. I got lucky. So off to find a screen and new covers. I'll add a couple pics in the next few posts. These bikes are tough. From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment.
  9. I'm with Bongo. This is much better news than what issues had been lurking in my mind. Bless you both for striving to continue on with what you have started. Mike
  10. Like between the holes right? Just like home. From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment.
  11. I'd been considering Texas for a long time mostly due to favorable weather conditions for the bike lifestyle during the winter season. About the time i was regretting not being on my way there it was about the time wasn't it the governor that Declared a good part of the state a disaster area due to winter storms. Sat down and thought about Texas some more. Still on the table. Still looking forward to meeting you Brad and the rest the boys down there. From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment.
  12. Oh Bobby. You missed my last misadventure last month. The bike has nine lives. I think I've only used two. I hope. Went down on these rock roads pulling the trailer. Trailer tire caught a rut and dragged me off the side and left me laying in the mud. Leg was pinned under the left side of the bike and helmet was wedged between the trunk and body of the trailer. Daughter finally found me and got me pulled loose. Not a scratch on the bike. Me, not so much. Now I'm thinking about a 4 wheel drive for a while. Looking forward to moving somewhere with paved roads more than anything. From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment.
  13. Wind is coming back up and it's starting to rain. Maybe I should run out and spray some degreaser on it while it's laying there. After doing about 20 or 30 miles a day since last August on these lime rock roads maybe I should use Dustbuster. From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment.
  14. LOL! Had to throw that at ya. I remember ya had to comb your tail feathers after our last conversation where I mentioned the "R" word. Got to keep in touch with you somehow. Take care Lutz. I know your busy season is just kicking in. Mike From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment.
  15. Found my bike like this yesterday in the aftermath of the high winds that came through here. It had been breezy in the morning but they say gusts were hitting from 40 to 70 MPH. I didn't notice it right away as the catch plate on the south entry door was torn out of the frame and a basement window was blown out. It got kinda breezy in the house to. Enough to send my daughters two cats sliding across the hardwood floors (which was the most entertaining part of my day) but I'm going to need to do some serious dusting in here. The front right side of the fairing was actually under the rear of the camper. So far only major damage loss seems to be the windscreen. Even the mirrors survived. Still has to get it stood up for a better inspection. Got it pulled out far enough to try to get her back on her feet when a lil help arrives. (Full bike covers are NOT the answer in all conditions) At least the brushfire missed the place. Not a total loss for the day. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/28/raba6era.jpg From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment.
  16. Good to hear Paul. Glad things are looking up for you. From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment.
  17. Dang Lutz, was just thinking about you the other day. Good to see you could find your way to the keyboard. With all your spare time you sure could use a hobby. LOL. Don't hurt me! You bought a Rune yet? Mike From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment.
  18. Happy Birthday Jeff. Many more waiting for ya. From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment.
  19. I missed the "engage at speed" issue in the second post. There the start button is certainly suspect. If that button is sticking down and not fully releasing you will probably see other signs like no head light. That button when pressed shuts off power to the headlight until released to save current draw from the battery until bikes starts. The bike will start and run with the button stuck down but the starter will still be under power. The engage in normal condition should not be locked in at normal engine running rpms. Not good for the starter but should not cause any other type of damage. I'm interested in what you find. From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment.
  20. LOL! Would have worked great on the old TR spitfire. From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment.
  21. You got that right. Bought a near basket case '84 back in 2006. Brought back to life and roadworthy condition and still a daily rider today. The folks here are outstanding in every sense of the word. They have been more than just a "bike" support group. They are family. From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment.
  22. Hey, howdy and welcome to the site. I'm on my cell so i can see what bike you have. If you have a first Gen there is a first and last fix for an engage problem. Do a search for Dano Starter Engage Mod. Be the last time you ever concern yourself with it. I was one of the first to have this done several years ago. Flawless performance with 40,000 miles on it. But problems begin with things like those 3 little springs, wear on the contact points where the engage rollers seat in the body and more the worst then the interior hub in the engage cracks where you can't see it. That's when the hammering starts during starting. You can try to rebuild but its not always a fix. Danos mod replaces the entire assembly including a new and different 72 tooth ring gear. Read up in the posts found from a search and it will answer all your questions. From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment.
  23. Congratulations Bob. Keep after it! Be watching for the next 10,000. From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment.
  24. Dang! I'm late to the party again. But best wishes Don and many more to come. From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment.
