1. What are some other good options and where to mount them?
2. Thanks just same. If they turn up let me know.
3. Yes. Whatcha want for 'em?
4. I think I need the high tone horn but I'm not sure. Both horns have the same markings and there is no way to know if they are original. The brackets are marked but there's also no way to make sure that they have not been changed around. So I guess a high horn or a pair
5. 1. Name brand or is Harbor Freight OK? 2. Where its called for inside the engine, and areas difficult to access, is it best to use Red hi-strength or Red Permanent?
6. Where do you hook it up?
7. Can you install one from here? http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/13/mepe3y3u.jpg
8. It's a done deal! 16 quad-rex screws 65 mm long (approx 2.5"). It actually works quite well. The thrust washer and retainers were amazingly easy to change.
9. Think this'll work?
10. But its a great day to go to the beach!
11. Might just take that one myself[emoji12]
12. Any side bets?
13. I have put over 25000 yes 25k on Big Red since I bought him in Oct 2012. Been up to Freebird's in Oberlin, back thru the Virginia's and Carolinas. Did 8 states in one day. Two trips to the Kreggerdoodle's. Central Florida... All on Big Red! I sure love him!
14. Determination and persistence!
15. I see why the Yamaha shop over 2 grand to do it
16. What might cause the oil warning indicator to come on during hard acceleration at high rpms? The oil level was in the center of the the sight glass. Perhaps an inferior oil filter? I think the last one was installed at the dealer when I had some other maint done there.. But I do not know if it was an oem filter. Maybe the pump is working good but the oil is being slowed in its return to the sump. This happened only 2 times prior to tearing the bike down for second gear. I want to address this issue as I reassemble.
17. Many of you have been following my other thread Time for Second Gear Repair I'm just wondering what the current odds are, who is betting in my favor, and if I can get in on the action?
18. Yes Frank, the impeller has been replaced with the metal one. Thanks for the reminder. I have also purchased approximately 80 individual parts. Mostly gaskets, o-rings, circlips, and any other "wearable parts" that are accessible during the second gear repair. I was surprised at how many little things there are to replace when you remove the transmission. They have all arrived and I have separated all of the parts according to the parts breakdown, so that as I begin reassembling, everything will be organised and waiting to be installed/replaced in the proper sequence. I have also: 1. Changed out the fuse box with an 8 position ATM fuse box. 2. Lowered the battery box about 3/8". I hope it will allow enough room for the taller ATM fuse box with cover. 3. Have the newer type of shift segment and pins. 4. Miscellaneous repairs, cleaning and polishing 5. Removing the baffles in the "rattle trap" exhaust chamber and having it rewelded. 6. Made several wiring repairs/up-grades.
19. Funny you should ask... Yesterday I completed a project at work and I will again pick up where I left off. When I am "earning a living" I don't get involved with the motorcycle. but... I'm baaaack!
20. Yes, of course we have room and you are welcome. Perhaps we can meet and have coffee also. At the moment there is not a lot to post since I have been "On Project" (working) for the last 2 weeks and the next 2 weeks. When I have a project going on, I focus my time and energy on that. Gotta make a livin'! When I'm in between, then I can redirect my attention and energy to "Secretariat" (Big Red). And believe you me, I am very anxious to get back on it!
