  1. Isn't the starter grounded directly to the engine block?
  2. Tried it this morning and no luck
  3. I used some jumper cable and ran directly from the battery to the starter by-passing the solenoid and nothing, so I'm guessing I have a bad starter.
  4. I have an 86VR with a 2nd gen starter. Yesterday with no other issues prior to this the starter wouldn't turn. All other electrics work, battery is 12.8v, I jumped the solenoid and checked for voltage at the starter which was 12.2v. Am I missing something or do I just have a bad starter?
  5. I have one of these from Harbor Freight. It's a tight fit length wise, but it does work. http://www.harborfreight.com/low-profile-motorcycle-dolly-95896.html
  6. I had one it was my first bike.
  7. I disconnected the tip over switch and so far so good.
  8. I have been having an intermittent problem with my fuel pump. Without any other symptoms the bike will stall because the pump has stopped. I have changed the fuel pump, pump relay, filter and TCI without any luck. If I tap on the pump it will start. I was able to check the voltage to the pump when it wasn't working, the voltage was all over the place and never got a good reading. I have an 1100 mile trip planed for next month and would really like to get a good fix.
  9. Take a look http://www.skullysystems.com/#home
  10. If you can't see through your clutch and brake sight gauges you may want to consider replacing them. I couldn't see through mine and while away my clutch master cylinder leaked on and ruined the fairing. I was gone 10 days and the damage is pretty bad. I was already going to replace them, the replacements arrived the day I left, and I figured I'd do it when I got back.
  11. If you had never ridden a Venture you would be happy with the Gold Wing, It's a good all day straight line ride.
  12. The anti dive is probably the cause for the low voltage with the brakes engaged. http://www.ebay.com/itm/YAMAHA-VMAX-VENTURE-STATOR-COIL-OIL-COOLING-KIT-NEW-SET-90891-30014-90105-12374-/360783776444?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5400638abc&vxp=mtr
  13. I know your bike is a 1990, but is there a stator cooling kit installed?
  14. I am looking for the air hose from the rear shock of an 83-93 without class. The shock is a manual fill with no spring. I am removing the CLASS from my bike and this seems the easiest way to go.
  15. Can I still scrape the foot pegs?
  16. What's the point of putting a car tire on a motorcycle?
  17. I wouldn't know what a fair price would be. The last one I bought was part of parts lot.
  18. I seen one for the Vmax that goes in the fill plug.
  19. Yes that's what I need. I just need the right one. What do you want for it?
  20. I bought it one day when the clutch was low and never took it out. When I put the new bag on I just moved everything.
  21. I have had 2 right saddle bags have the bottoms just crumble and fall out. I just installed the second one a few months ago and it was in good shape. Just confused? BTW looking for a brown right saddle bag for an 86 VR.
  22. You might try a 60/40 water to coolant (water cools better) and some water wetter. I also changed the fan switch to a lower temp one, so the fan comes on just above half way on the gauge.
