  1. ok so i set my carbs floats to 16mm below the two lines on the back of the float bowl when i tested them first after taking them off the bike they were in the ball park of 18 - 19 below the lines. but now with the fuel level up i get alot of popping at idle and when i rev up and down i get what sounds like rattling but i suspect is excess fuel igniting. i dont know why its running so rich if thats where its supposed to be, and to make sure i hadent set them too high i took the fuel pump out of the bike as well, set it up to a battery and a switch and am using the fuel pump to fill the bowls which is still giving me 16 below lines. and to make my confusion worse the fuel pump doesn't seem to come on consistently i can flip the switch and get nothing for a couple of switches and if i empty the bowl with it on sometimes it comes on right away and sometimes it dosent come on at all so ive got what seems to be an overly rich condition at idle causing popping and snapping and at the high end on the highway i have no power half the time and lots others. as well as the spark plugs staying super white at the porcelain. am i setting the the fuel too high and just having it lean out on the highway due to a worn pump? and is there an aftermarket fuel pump that's reliable instead of buying yet another used pump?
  2. now what do you mean work it hard?
  3. i wave to most, except scooters.
  4. wow the people who comment on that site are a group of angry people
  5. so the connector on the bike only has 4 wires going in with 5 wires on the block side
  6. so im changing my ignition coils and i found this plug right beside them and dont know what it goes to any ideas?
  7. just a cleaned up set of stock pipes, even so it dropped my milage from 32 mpg to 23-25 mpg
  8. i have the one i removed from my bike and one off my parts bike, im trying to only put the best back on the bike as i have been having massive power and mileage issues since i put the new exhaust on
  9. perfect now i have two of the circuits tht connect to it is there any way to see which on is the better one?
  10. so i hear about the 6 pin connector for the ignition coils and im not sure which one is the right one, i have found one that has wires that are about 2 inches long and go to a little 1" X 1" black circuit is that it or am i looking at the wrong section.
  11. its not a heat thing it just runs rough from cold to hot, they test good and when i took the plug out when hot and still had fire on doth side when i grounded the plug to the frame, though i do notice from time to time the bike will hic up and the tach will drop to 0 for a second then spring back up
  12. so my bike has been running me in a loop for a month now, a while back i put a new exhaust on it and tuned the carbs it ran beautiful for like 20km pulled like a freight train and was super smooth was better than ide ever had it. then after 20 km or so it began to run low on power again, having to run almost full trottle to get my bike and trailer up to 120kph and the milage has dropped from 32 mpg to 23 mpg. so far the issues ive seen is when i did the valves all 4 on cyl 2 were out of spec, after the 20km and things began going down hill i found that the rear 2 cylinders were not really firing i could pull the plugs and the sync caps and the idle and rev wouldn't change, replaced the rear plugs and it got a little better for a short while. then the boot over cyl 2 began getting really wet. now ive gone into the carbs to see if anything was off and they were pretty well spotless, the fuel levels were low so i adjusted them and that seems to make it a hair more peppy but not what i had right after the tune. and now i cant get cyl 2 to stop popping on idle unless i turn the air screw all the way in. no vacuum leaks anywhere and the sync is spot on i just have no idea whats making it run so crappy, all the plugs are new, wires are new, carbs are spotless, valve are adjusted, exhaust is well sealed, the tci is a new ignitech. i just don't know where to go next. what could possibly be making run so crappy?
  13. is it actually going into gear or just grinding? almost seems to me like your clutch isnt disengaging and could be a problem with your clutch slave cylinder
  14. i run dunlop 491 elite II's
  15. ya i just did a full exaust last week and to remove the collector the front pipes have to come off as well as the mufflers, the two bolt holing the rear pipes can be reached with long extensions by angling them up under the frame and are a pita to get at. and the two bolt that hold the collector to the engine are at the front of it between where the front pipes go into it
  16. got the spare left fairing out of the basement and the paint match seems really good so that should be ready to go on by morning got the sub frame straitened up well hopefully anyway.
  17. thanks for the best wishes and i do certainly think i'll be feeling it something fierce in the morning
  18. its the bog aroung the middle of the relays fairly big, i beleive its box 41r
  19. so i was pulling off a side road by my apartment and there was a pile of lose dirt on the road i couldn't see with the sun setting in front of me, leaned into the turn and hit the gas and the back tire kicked out and slid across the dirt till it hit the end of the patch, grabbed the road and flipped onto its other side, so smashed left fairing, and and a few scratches across the trunk and saddle bags. a little road rash and bruised ego. guess i'll be tossing on my spare fairing and painting the bike this weekend yay
  20. i had to bend my flaps out a bit with pliers to get the gasket to fit in and some perswasive tapping to get the pipe in after
  21. i dunno for me it was a matter of having one 2 brush die, then have the second dead as soon as i installed it, so ive went new and with the troubles i had on hot days before the extra $20 for a new 4 brush vs 2 brush was worth the piece of mind
