I am going to need to replace the OEM windshield on a '86 Mark II that I am considering buying. Can anyone tell me of a good aftermarket windshield for the '86 - '93 Ventures ??? I do look OVER my windshields, not through them, so I don't want stock height, and I lean toward a sporty windshield, not a larger one. I do not carry a passenger, so I don't care if the windshield protects a passenger, as the aux. fuel cell I will mount back there does not mind getting wind in the face. And, yes, I am very familiar with Clearview Windshields. I am a long time customer, have seen what they offer for the Mark II, and...they have a direct link from their website to the VentureRiders.Org website (yeah) Any suggestions?????

Swifty, do you really want to open that can of worms ?

You both got it wrong. Black is the fastest color, and...as they say...once you go black, you never go slow. -
Actually neither the frame mounted fairing or the front-end mounted fairing is better...than...riding with NO fairing...while bare-chested...in a hail storm...with a 50 mph crosswind...and a VW microbus full of dope smoking hippies following you...because they need to draft behind you to avoid the hail on their windshield...because their wipers don't work...and the cops are chasing them...up a hill...and the fastest they can go is 40 mph...up that same hill...which is slower than the 50 mph crosswinds...that are pushing then back down the hill...and the cop is slowing as fast as he can...to avoid the VW microbus from being blown back into the cop car...all the while...you are riding the bike with no fairing...with your hairy bare-chest sticking out in the wind...testing your manliness up against the forces of the hail storm...and smiling all the way home. Those were the days my friends, we thought they'd never end, we'd sing and dance, forever and a day....

I too think that J&M is a great company to deal with. I have used J&M products for more than 25 years, and know John and Melinda very well personally. I have worked with John on several projects over the years to develop a few items, and they always take care of me. Have nothing but good things to say about both J and M.

Luke, only someone under the age of 21 would take the profit from a motorcycle sale...and go order a Bicycle. The rest of us are too old to ride a contraption that has no engine on it.

Tom, please go ask Amy to post a picture of your new bike...the so-called Tour Deluxe. A picture that we do not need to visit a chiropractor after having viewed the picture.

Hey, that is just my starting bid. It has to start somewhere, and considering that whomever buys it has to travel to...Long Island, NY., where they don't even make good Salsa...then...well...you know. Okay, Condor raised me on the bid, so I will up his $ 5001.00 bid to my new offer of $ 5,500.00 Do I hear $ 5,750.00 ???????
-
Andrew, we could auction that bike off right here, and use our considerably educated and experienced minds to judge the value of it, rather than some rookies that have never owned one of these. I would want to see more specific pictures of it, but...I will start the bidding at $ 5,000.00

Ah, pay no attention to the man from Florida, where he has to ride slow, because he is dodging blue-haired old ladies. SilvrT, that is some good ridin'. Now...just keep up that pace for 20 hours a day, for 11 days.

All of my bikes that get stored for the Winter, or are placed in my mini-museum are all placed on either the OEM centerstand, or on a bike lift, so that very little weight gets put on the tires, or suspension while in storage.

Jeff, kudos my friend for getting back into this. I know you really want this bike for your Son that lives deep in the heart of Texas, and as I privately told you, I will not bid you up on this bike. I hope your Son enjoys this new ride. You and I shall meet at one of the events this year, and a good time will be had by all. -
G'day my Dear. How is Alan doing today? Feeling abit more chipper, eh?

Okay, Swifty, now that I know the facts of life:rotf:, that bike you test rode is damn ugly, you tested the SLOW colour bike, and I hope you never enjoy that bike you did not buy:cool10:

The "Drive thru Window" At Skydoc_17's House Is Now Open!
Miles replied to skydoc_17's topic in Watering Hole
Earl, without having seen your home in person...me...not you......I believe I know what the adjuster was talking about when it came to the problem with your homes' foundation, and why they are saying that YOU need to pay for repairs to remedy this problem with the foundation...prior to the insurance company covering the costs of repairs that the car caused to your home. I recommend that you get a "written" inspection report from your insurance adjuster...that explains the problem with your foundation...that "they" believe is something that you have to pay to remedy. Then...call up a few different Home Inspection companies in your area, find a very good quality Home Inspector...and have him do a foundation inspection on your home. Do NOT show him the insurance company's written report in advance of his inspection. Also, tell him that you only want the foundation inspected...not for damage caused by the car crashing into it, but for deficiencies that were present PRIOR to the car crashing into your home. Tell the Home Inspector that you want to know if your homes' foundation was up to code...for your area...or not up to code...as per the guidelines that this professional home inspector abides by. Get the written report from the Home Inspector, compare it to the written report from the insurance company...ONLY pertaining to your homes' foundation issues that were present prior to the car crash. If the two reports agree with one another, then...your insurance company "may" have a point. If the two reports do not agree with one another, then your insurance company does not have a point...or a leg to stand on. And, even if the two reports do in fact agree, which as stated above, means your insurance company "may" have a point...that does not mean that they absolutely have a leg to stand on. A judge, by way of an attorney...is going to give more weight to what the independent Home Inspector has to say about your homes' foundation, that he will to the insurance company's point of view. Also...important point here: The insurance company has been insuring your home, taking your money for payments...all the while the home "supposedly" had this deficiency with the foundation...prior to the car crash. That means...in court... that they have "assumed" the position that the home is in good repairs to the point of being insurable. Once they take your money, they cannot change their minds about that. I know that you said very early on about the two different ages of the home, as to two different sections that were built years apart. I would have to believe that they are concerned with the foundation of the older section, and I think I know why. Send me a PM if you want further info. -

Want to feed XM radio & Radar detector together...through my CB
Miles replied to Miles's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
Creole, the thing that is confusing you is...my bike is not a Venture...it is the RSTD model, so my CB unit is a JMCB2003 unit. -

Less than 24 hours left as of now. The countdown begins....tick tock tick tock tick tock... -
Here is a question for you electrical wizards. Years ago J&M used to offer a Y-cord, that would allow someone to feed two separate units together into one audio out source. Meaning...right now I have my XM radio feeding the audio signal OUT from it...to my CB aux. IN port, and I can listen to my XM radio via my CB radio aux controls. If I wanted to disconect my XM radio from this aux. IN post, I could plug my radar detector audio OUT signal into the aux. IN of my CB, and listen for the beeps and braps of the detector via the CB aux. controls. What I want to do is to listen to both...my XM radio, and my radar detector...connected in a Y-cord condition, to the IN port of the aux. of my CB. Currently, I am not aware of anyone that makes a suitable Y-cord that would allow me to plug the mini 3.5 male plugs into my XM radio, and into my radar detector...while the single female 3.5 plug would allow the wire from the aux. of my CB to be plugged into it. Bottom line is I would like to listen to both units, not just one. I realize that there needs to be some variable in that Y-cord, so that the two signals are not mixed...so that I can listen to the XM radio signal, and "if/when" the radar signal is sent...it overrides the XM radio signal, and sends me a beep or brap. Do one of you more electrically wizard folks know if a Y-cord for this application is available ?????

Well, Swifty, I will say it....the new bike looks great. You got the fastest color...er...colour, eh. I hope you enjoy your new bike. Now, what are you doing with the '86 VR ???

Andy, I too use the same Mityvac, and it works quite well for bleeding the brakes on these bikes, or any vehicle.

George, here is one link: http://www.cruiseraccessoriesonline.com/products/Valkyrie_Saddlebag_Top_Racks-671-19.html Here is another link: http://www.phatperformanceparts.com/M_C_Enterprises_Saddlebag_Top_Racks_Valkyrie_p/mc47213.htm Here is another link: http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/hondaline-chrome-saddlebag-racks-valkyrie-is/part/HL-08L41-MBY-100 I mean, George, I could do this all day long. The beauty of using a top rack that was meant for a Valkyrie, is that they are larger than most. And there is an abundance of them, as...seen above. Personally, I would go with the ones in the 3rd link.
-
George, when you search for a chrome rack to mount on top of the saddlebags, search for the ones meant to fit on the top of the Valkyrie saddlebags. There are several made for that bike, and they end up being kind-of a universal blend of saddlebag racks. I have used these for other bikes in the past.

Okay, as promised...here are the pics of my little pocket rocket. It may not seem like a big deal, but with all new paint, new OEM struts at all four corners, black powder-coated winter wheels, and American Racing summer wheels, and an added turbo, this is a fun car to drive. The pics show several shots...the black wheels are powder-coated, and have the Winter tires on them. The silver wheels are American Racing mags, with the Summer tires on them. Shots outside and inside my shop. The galled enclosure next to the shop is our greenhouse. And, before you ask...Subaru did NOT make a WRX version of this car. That is my doing, after I added the turbo and other fixin's. Dan, wait until this coming Monday, and I will have a nifty '84/'86 1st gen to sell you...cheap. That is, unless RedRider outbids me. And, I am willing to deliver it. Can't beat that offer.
