I've used one of those. practiced welding for a day with it then took the test. Manny moon ago........ passed all but one. should have started it with a new stick replaced it half way through.
well took off pan looks like new in there. The 3and 4 cyl rods have more movement than others. Will have to wait till kid shows up so I can see what is going on when rotating.
There has to be a problem as if you try to just take off it sounds like a rod is going to kiss ya. And if you lug the engine it knocks. If I can find the problem now might be able to save it. When engine is louder than the exhaust and exhaust is slash cuts.
Well it has the dreaded rod rattle when starting to move then after you get to speed you can here when exc. And running steady speed. Or there is a rod bent.
I think Randy has the right idea. The deck spindles and tensioner are getting up there in age, are they grease able. Fix and sell two for one commercial mower. Some one in area may have one left from last year. Make sure it has a good warranty. Most all the company's are owned by Murry.
Well I'm tired of messing with my 2001 motor. Does anyone know if a 2007 or up motor would go in? I know the carbs are bigger. So would have to replace them. If the exhaust and rest of parts would work that would be great. Then the only problem will be me getting it done. If I'm doing this want to upgrade. May even tackle v-max cams. First will have to sell a few things to pay for it, but that is fine got all the time in the world. But I'm done for this season. Was going to ride till it popped. Then got to thinking may kill other parts in processes that would be bad.
well just so you know white grease holds water, throw it away. If you don't believe me put some in a cup and add a eye dropper of water in it. Will be gone in a short while.
well I went to a different type of oil in the engine made a bit of a difference. Adjusted the valve shims helped also. My exhaust is to loud right now have to correct that. Do the simple stuff and go from there.
Have any of you been to the grotto of redemption in West Bend Ia. Not much there but they have a camp ground. Don't know what is up in that area anymore haven't been up there in years. But you all need to drive by the egg plant in Fort Dodge. See how tough ya are.
Well got up the courage to take it out. That's the best its ever ran. Runs on all four may have to take plug off one cylinder for normal sound. lol Never took battery out this winter now going to have to buy a new one you only get two shots at starting. Forget something and your there. Next year have to replace mufflers to loud for me but will have to do this year. Also need a shield that will have to wait. I only spend so much on it then it has to give me enjoyment get my moneys worth and gives ya time to decide what ya want.
Well if you are close to the Mississippi there are 4 campgrounds At Buffalo Ia there is Buffalo Sholes campground. Then East of that is Clarks Ferry a DNR campground. Then there is Shady Creek camp ground. Right before that is Wildcat Den State Park they have a camp ground but no hookup. Shady Creek is a Core of Engineers camp ground my favorite one. Then there is Fairport camp ground it may still be closed for upgrades. This is all on 22east a state road. Also known as Great River Road. Then if your in Muscatine there is Saulsberry Bridge it also has a camp ground power and showers on Mulberry Ave north of town about 3 miles. Above Iowa City is Sugar grounds camp ground. there is also Lake McBride camp ground There both clean and nice. Then there is a few private ones cant remember there names. if you go to the Iowa DNR website there listed and some sites are reservations the other are Core of Engineers They have them also.
Well just put it back together. Would have to have a new bushing made. Don't want to take the time right now. And think I would have to replace baffle ie. looked sealed. Don't want to put a bunch of money in this set rough shape. So the answer is you cant disassemble this set. Don't know why they bothered with screws.
Well you brake the outer bearing and remove the balls. Then lube up the gear put a weld across the bearing when it starts to cool should just pull off by hand. Then have a frydaddy with cooking oil in it hang bearing in oil making sure its not touching bottom. Cook for three min should just slip right on but you have to be quick. Make sure you have all your ducks in a row. When bearing cools it don't move. My biggest question is if bearing comes out with gear alone put on before reassemble. If it wont go in case put in dri-ice then assemble. Done this a million times on equipment.
WELL after looking at the pics again looks like the only way to do this in the case you might not want to do.
Well trying to add to the baffle. I have the slashcuts and baffle loose but there is a inner ring that I cant get loose. Wondering is it threaded or pressed or welded in place. Figured I would ask before going red neck on it. One way or other its coming out.... The bike is way to loud as it sits.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbjJfrW7MbY
