  1. I know I'm new here but I have read a lot and hang around quite a few different sites so I have seen quite a few fuffled feathers. The one thing I see a lot is someone new joins up to their respective site of interest and then asks a question he is told to use the search function. It seems to keep things a lot friendlier if the info is given that they need with a friendly pat on the back so to speek.
  2. When I was flying we had the engine rebuilt and I was told to keep the power up to keep the rings tight against the cylinder walls. I guess a few guys around the airport had glazed their cylinder walls from running their engine to easy after an overhaul. Also used to work for a guy who bought a new Chevy truck and went straight to the sand dunes and romped the heck out of it. Best running 350 Chevy I ever drove.
  3. Looks like a low mileage bike if anyone is looking-http://saginaw.craigslist.org/mcy/2948872960.html
  4. I will be wearing mine. I have jumped on my bike after working on it to check it out without a helmet but felt totally naked. I guess too many years of wearing one to feel comfortable without it.
  5. Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Glad to see no one takes themselves to seriously here. Don't see too many Ventures around this area so I'm glad to find all this knowledge here. I'm just never happy with someone else doing my wrenching.
  6. Thanks everyone. I have been digging thru the tech sections and I know I need to flush coolant and brake fluids. Also need to adjust valves, carb floats, and sync the carbs. About the only thing he did is change oil. I'm no stranger to wrenches so it's just a matter of time and the ever elusive patience when I'd rather be riding it.
  7. Just wanted to say hello. Sold my Honda VTX and now have a 2001 RSV. Has about 66,000 miles with no real maintenence done to it so I'll be picking some brains on here. Sure glad to find a friendly group for this bike. Scott
