  1. Want to see what kind of interest there is about having a get together in June, The calendar so far is open. It will be here at our place near Viroqua Wisconsin. We have always had a great time every year we have done something here. So I would like to keep it going. We dont get fancy here, come as you are and be ready to visit, set around a campfire and eat some good food. And we do like to get in a ride and show off the great part of Wisconsin we live in. We dont get in a hurry on our rides. We like to be able to look around and see the country side. We do have plenty of camping room here at our place and there will be clean porta potties. There are other campgrounds close by with water and electric. Motels 6 miles away in Viroqua. and if you look around there are cabins to rent if thats what you would like to do. I would like to see some feed back and I will pick a date. Orlin
  2. I got to talk with the boy this morning and he is 8 years old. Stopped to tell him that school had a two hour delay due to the cold. And talked with him about staying in the driveway and be seen when the truck or buss is coming. And he was a very nice about it, And he said that he would from now on. I am thinking he got a pretty good scare out of coming so close to getting hit. And he had on a new blue jacket instead of the black one he had on yesterday.
  3. I have been plowing snow for 36 years and this morning I was ready to park the truck and hand in my keys. I was plowing and winging the snow back off of the side of the roads, I was getting near where I turn around at the Town line there is a drive way there and I plow the end out because we use it as a turn around spot. I was getting towards the drive and seen a dark object along the road by the ditch and raised the wing and swung out some to avoid it. I pulled in the drive and backed around and then I seen what it was, a kid in a dark coat and hat about 8 or 10 years old maybe. Setting in the snow waiting for the school bus. Hands on top of the head all tucked down with the hood of the coat pulled over. At first I wasnt sure that I didnt hit the kid with the wing the was setting there. I stopped and put the window down and got a wave and the kid got up. Now I dont know why the kid just sat there like that, Maybe thought would be fun to get sprayed with snow or what. All I could think about was what if I hadnt got the wing up quicker or not been looking and seen the kid. I wasnt sure what it was when I went by, Looked like a garbage bag or a stump rolled down off of the hill. Just a dark something a long the road, There are times I just use the wing and push those things out of the way and then pick them up later. I still dont want to think if I had done that. I have some close calls over the years, But none even come close to how this one has made me feel. I am very thank full to the guardian angel watching over the both of us this morning. Orlin
  4. Sorry that cancer has again come into your life again, Prayers up and away. I never thought that becoming a member would lead to a path in life that over the years has made for some of the best memories. And the friends that we made that have become part of our family. I have to say is all thanks to you Don for this site. I have sat and thought about all of the great people that have been able to meet, and the gatherings we have had here and it all started with over a set of carbs for a 1983 Venture. Orlin
  5. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all, Lets hope that this will be the year the virus will be gone, And we can have some fun gatherings and get to see old friends and get to me some new ones. Orlin
  6. I would agree with checking the tightness of the steering head, tire pressure, did you put the tires on or were they one there. swing arm bushing could need to be tightened and lubed. These cycles love to cruse down the highway at that speed. Mine feels like its glued to road. I spend alot of time one handed with no worries. If it was me I would get the tires off of the ground and check the wheel bearings, steering head bearings, swing arm, and see if you may have a front tire that isnt seated evenly or maybe a little out of round. And thats its a 06 I would want to go over all of it any way.
  7. Sounds like you have air in the clutch and need to bleed the air out.
  8. Just a few days away, I am going to plan on a small group. There are a few others that havent RSVP on the calendar but they called and said they will be pulling in on Thursday and Friday. Will be good to everyone that is coming. To those of you coming have a safe ride here.
  9. We got a couple on the calendar, And a few that are coming and have their usual camp spots picked out. Lets see some more Wisconsin Riders. The extended forecast looks great so far. Come and relax and get to visit get in a ride around our area. Its going to be great to those that can come. Always a great time meeting new friends and seeing old ones. Do RSVP on the calendar so I know what to set up for a ride or two, and what to have for food.
  10. Its a go, Lets see some Wisconsin people, so far we have Iowa, Michigan and Georgia. I looked at the extended forecast and its looking like low 80s and sunny.
  11. Okay, Its getting close now, And no names on the calendar, I will give it to the end of the week and see what happens. And decide what I am going to do.
  12. I like the Bagger Shield, You have two to chose from with one wind shield and only takes a couple of minutes to go from short to tall. And they seem to hold up well.
  13. I go with the leveling links and the 130 front tire because of the area where we ride, A lot of hills and turns . The two put together makes the cycle feel much lighter and handle much better. For me it takes it from going around turns with both hands to one hand in either direction. There are some that have tried it and dont like the feel at higher speeds. It does make the cycle feel more touchy. There are other things that can make the Venture feel like a tub to ride also. Tire inflation can be a big one. How much air in the rear shock, how the neck bearings are adjusted can make a night or day change in how it feels. The springs in the front forks. If things are sloppy thats how its going to ride. And will make the Venture feel much more heavy 1st or 2nd gen.
  14. July is getting close, If any of you are planning on coming and want to get a room in Viroqua you may want to look into it. They book up pretty fast around here in July. And please RSVP on the calendar and there is info for the motels on there. If you want to camp here at our place there is plenty of room our camp ground is open this year and in great shape. Its rustic, there will be clean porta potties to use. There are other nice campgrounds close by if you want water and electricity. Hope to see some names on the calendar.
  15. July will be here before we know it, I put some info for the motels on the calendar. Would be nice to see some RSVPs on the calendar. I know there are a few coming, So please RSVP.
  16. Have you drained the oil to make sure you are not getting coolant into the oil also. And have you seen any coolant on the floor or ground from the weep hole on the water pump, you may need to clean out the end of the small hose coming from the water pump sometimes they get plugged and wont let it drain out.
  17. After reading that, Most of my bad days were a walk in the park. Sure hope they can get some help and the virus will play it self out soon.
  18. This is a easy one for me, Remington 3006 BDL I have had it for 38 years. And was a few years old when I got it at the K and L sporting good store here in Viroqua. Can still see it there with all of the other guns and it just stood out and seemed to be calling out to me. Had the owner hand it to me and I put it up to my shoulder and it was the one. It fit me like it had been made just for me, It did need just a little work on the trigger pull. After that was done I am not sure you have to pull the trigger you just think it. I have put alot of deer meat in the freezer and helped get rid of some coyotes. And it has found its next one to give some great hunting memories to my daughter Hana, And she got her best buck so far last year with it.
  19. I looked up wire walker from the 1900s and I found one close to it once I figure out how to get the picture on here we can look at it.
  20. Well we dont have a yes I know what that is and I have used one. I have always thought it was built to lift and the handle was to guide it, The legs can be moved by pushing and pulling the handle or you can use the ring to move the legs, and note the spring it pulls the legs together. It would be small blocks of ice. Fence tool possible, but it would only hold the wire. Good thought, We will have to keep quessing until that person says we had one of those and this is what it does.
  21. My Dad would get tools to stump people, well he was stumped and never did get to find out what this was used for. I can remember the day he got it at a auction 49 years ago and him saying he had no idea what it was and wanted to see how long it would take to find out. I found it in a box of stuff the other day and thought time to have some fun with it and maybe someone out there may know what it is.
  22. If you are looking to free up floor space, Before I had a lift table or a jack I put a 6 foot piece of angle iron with 2 large eye bolts and mounted that to my roof truss, And used a come along or a small chain hoist. And have lifted many motor cycles, Only front or rear at a time. If you want to get the front and rear up in the air then I would use a jack and use it until I had it where I wanted it. I do have 2x10 trusses. You could beef up the truss if you have 2x4 built, Also has come in handy for lifting lots of other things also.
  23. I got started on mine and Sharons RSV a few days ago and when I put it up on the lift, I noticed that the fork seal on the right side fork was starting to leak and that the lower fork cover was hitting the fork. I thought that may have been bent after we hit the deer last year, But it was the fork. So tore it down and pulled the fork and put a straight edge on it and it is tweaked, So up to the shed and grab a pair of forks, Its good to pack rat parts. Some sanding and buffing on the lower forks, new seals ,oil and a year old pair of progressive springs the front end is done. Now to switch out the clutch and get rid of that wine, change the oil, new spark plugs and sync the carbs and take it out for a ride Saturday and see how it rides out. And hope that this years first ride can not include hitting a deer or anything else.
  24. I have it on the calendar, Man that caused a few minutes of panic there. I was sure I had picked a open weekend. I would not of had it the same weekend as the WNY,
