  1. How's your battery and connections, I have had mine for years and both times it would not start, the battery was low to the point where it would turn over, but not fast enough to start . Dirty or corroded battery connections would produce the same results.
  2. Try GSResources website, the old Suzuki's were notorious for burning up stators, they have a detailed troubleshooting procedure for isolating problems. I personally had a problem with my 82 GS, which would test fine but would consistantly burn up stators between 5-6 thousand miles, it turned out to be the regulator, even though it passed all the checks.
  3. I seem to remember decades ago someone offering a single carb replacement for the old 70's Goldwings, I think they used a progressive Weber 2 barrel such as was used on the 124 Fiats which were about the same displacement. Given the work necessary to fabricate a manifold and adapt the throttle,choke linkage etc. and the uncertain results I don't know if it's worth the trouble but it would make for an interesting project and the Weber jets are easy to change for tuning.
