  1. I've never been a big fan of modular helmets, or full face helmets in general. I keep one to wear with my cold weather gear, but other than that I don't wear anything but my half hat. I always kind of feel closed in when wearing a full faced, and even though it's not true at all, I feel like it limits my vision.
  2. Actually the motorcycle gods smiled upon me today. On the two hour ride down there it poured the entire time, and it didn't get above 55 degrees. I got down there got my bike out and stopped for gas. When I walked out of the gas station, the clouds were all but gone and the sun was out in spades. It was actually a real nice ride, even though it wasn't a long one.

  5. I've never been real picky about the grade of gas I used in my bike, but since I got it out of the garage this spring, I've only been putting premium in it. I don't have the original factory manual that came with the bike, so I'm not sure, but I think 93 octane may be required. When I was using cheaper grades of gas my bike seemed like it started "hard" and you had to let it warm up for about 20 minutes before you could ride it. But since I've been using the expensive stuff it starts nice and smooth and is ready to go at the start. Not to mention it seems like it runs better in the high rpms range and seems like it has more get up and go. So is 93 octane required, or is it just good for my bike?
  6. I kind of like the wind in the face feeling, and the bugs don't bother me that much. I've thought about getting a windshield, but I kind of like the look without it. Thanks for all the info Pegscraper. I bought the bike last year from an old guy that collected Yams and it had been sitting in his garage under a tarp for about 10 years. Its a 96 and when I bought it, it only had 1800 miles on it. The wheels are completely solid, theres no trim ring, so I'm gonna asume those are aftermarket too. And the clutch lines and brake lines are braided so those were add ons. It kind of amazes me how much he put into this bike just to have it sit.
  7. Hey Pegscraper! Thanks for all the great info! If you could just list off some of the things you see. I'm pretty sure all of those parts are Yamaha. They are all either stamped Yamaha or with the Star emblem. I'll try to get a better picture of the wheels so you can see what you think. p.s. Great lookin bike! I looks like you have the Tour Classic am I right? Other than that they look like twins!
  8. But I've gotta go pick my bike up from a buddy's house two hours away today. It's 44 degrees and raining, so I might be a popcicle by the time I get back!
  9. Hey guys, thanks for the warm reply. If you guys wana check out Tanto, I posted some pictures in the Royal Star Tech Talk section!
  10. I read somewhere on the fourm that the only real rule was to post pictures of your ride so I thought I would follow rules and show off tanto. I've had him for about a year and I don't know a whole lot about him, but I hope to learn some stuff here. It seems to me (from looking at other 96's) that theres quite a bit of aftermarket chrome on him, would I be right? And is are the seats and sissy bar stock or aftermarket? Also, I'm pretty sure those wheels are aftermarket right? Also I posted a picture of my other bike, which is a Suzuki Intruder 805 http://i917.photobucket.com/albums/ad19/fsatatkid/th_royalstar1.jpg http://i917.photobucket.com/albums/ad19/fsatatkid/th_royalstar2.jpg http://i917.photobucket.com/albums/ad19/fsatatkid/th_suzuki.jpg http://i917.photobucket.com/albums/ad19/fsatatkid/th_royalstar.jpg
  11. I'm brand new to the fourm so I thought I would post a quick note to introduce myself. My name is Kyle and I'm from the Richmond, IN area. I ride a red/white Royal Star XVZ13A. I've been riding my Royal Star (named Tanto, cause he looks like an Indian, but he's not!) for about a year now and I can't believe I've never found this site before. I'm still pretty new to the whole moorcycle community (I've been riding for about 5 years, but I've never been involved in any clubs, charity rides, poker runs etc..) and I have lots of questions, but I'll try to pace myself so I don't annoy you guys too much. I would post a picture of Tanto, but I don't have a clue how that would work. So anyway I just wanted to let you guys know a little about me. I hope to see you around! --Kyle
  12. Hey Massey, I'm brand new to the site, but I saw your topic and thought I could help. I buy about 90% of my leather from Milwaukee. From boots to my jacket, almost everything I have came from them. Their prices aren't the absolute cheapest you'll find, but the leather is rugged and durable (especially if you take care of yours like I do mine, saddle soap is your friend!) I included a link to the pair of chaps I have. http://www.mmccleather.com/milwaukee-gunslinger-motorcycle-chaps.html
