  1. Sounds like the same experience we went through last year with Purolator filters. The manufacturer changed the threaded end of the filter. The end was changed from a concave to a convex shape thereby making it impossible to use.
  2. I've hauled a Pizza Hut pizza in the trunk. Also a 15 pound bag of dog feed will fit into a saddlebag.

    helmet laws

It's kinda like the seat belt law. After seeing how bad a friend of mine was disfigured from going through a windshield, I didn't need anyone to tell me to buckle up. But then, it's you're head. Just don't make me pay for your ignorance!
  4. Is the kickstand down?
  5. Yea, those plugs are about 5 bucks each and they haven't last a year yet, so I figured I'd give this a shot.
  6. I replaced the water jacket plugs last February but one started leaking again since the weather has cooled off, so this morning I did the "FDR" fix to stop that. Hint: Total cost was 40 cent.
  7. Here's one of mine. Someone responds to something they did to you by saying "my bad". Why can't they say, "I'm sorry"? There's no remorse in "my bad". When someone says, "I'm sorry", they are saying they have regret at doing something.
  8. What does a dog and a Harley have in common? They both like to ride in the back of a truck!
  9. Rode over to Oliver Springs, TN this morning and rode The Devil's Triangle (my 2nd time). Was white knuckled all the way!! Not for the faint of heart!! After lunch I went over near The Tail of the Dragon and rode Happy Valley Road and the Foothills Parkway. Tomorrow I hope to ride the Cherohalla Skyway and the Dragon. woohoo! Leaving Friday to head back to south Ga.
  10. My money is on a fuel pump that is failing or fuel filter beginning the stop up.
  11. Me too!!
  12. Just brought my RSV into the 21st century today. Got the same bluetooth hookup. Works great . May get ride of my Venture mp3 player now. Spotify sounding good. Had to go to a flea market to find the adapter but all is good now.
  13. Don, my wife and I have been going on vacation on the bike every year since I started back riding in 2007. This year she wants to take the car. She says it's because of the heat, she can't take it anymore. We're both 62 so I guess at least for her, she's winding down except for short trips on the bike. I ride almost every day so I guess that makes a difference also. I always said age was just a number. Maybe for some it's more!
  14. Per parts list main jets install #1 (left rear)and #2 (left front)122.5 #3 (right rear)117.5 #4 (right front)120 Cylinders are numbered as if you are sitting on the bike. According to the service manual, page 2-9, this is true.
  15. One more thing. The clearances are set on a cold engine. Now when the engines warms up and gets hot , some of that clearance goes away. I think the manual says to check the clearances at about 26,000 miles. So really you may have already been lucky.
  16. The bike may run really well until it burns a valve. Like the man said, "Do you feel lucky?".
  17. When I first signed on this site I was "Crazy Frog" because of a video on YouTube which I liked . After awhile it got old so I changed it after about the first year to "Travelin' Man" from a song long ago and the fact that I put 23,000 miles on the RSV the first year. Well, I don't get to travel as much as I used to so a couple of years ago I said to heck with the name chaging. I told myself if Eck can use his own name , so can I. Thank you sir! Now I don't have to change anymore.
  18. WELL, I'm sitting in the front porch swing watching the dogs try to sleep in the yard. Just looked and it's only 98 deg out here.

    Vmax

Thanks Boss. Let me correct myself. I'm not sure Dingy actually has one but he has a lot of knowledge "Vmax Powering" his Venture.

    Vmax

I was just wondering how many on this site own a Vmax motorcycle. I know a few that do, Dingy is one, and Puc is another, if he hasn't gotten rid of it, as well as myself. The reason I'm asking is, it's the same basic engine as the Venture and RSV. Not too much concerned about the 1700 version since it's an entirely different animal. If there's enough interest, why not have a section dedicated to those fine machines?
  21. Thank you for posting this. It gave me hope of getting my Vmax going again. It's been sitting for a couple of years now and at first I couldn't get it to take the gas. Well, now it will but only with the choke on. I even tried the peashooter method. I quess next is pulling the carbs and cleaning all the jets. Oh well, I gotta replace the front valve cover gasket anyway. I did the valves a couple of years ago but apparently didn't get it on right. I have a leak in the middle behind the water line going to the head. Thanks again for the post.
  22. Yep, I was about to call your hand on that one Bongo!
  23. I've often wondered if an aftermarket fairing could be made to fit in place of the stock fairing. Like Steve said, keep us posted on what you come up with. Good luck.
  24. Decisions, decisions! I think you already know the answer. That is..., whatever makes the little missus happy! Take the Vic.
