  3. May be the solenoid. With the key on short out the 2 big wires and see if it tries to start. If it does then the solenoid (located along the battery box) is shotski.
  4. Yes, walk away! My neighbor is selling a really nice 67 Mustang as he is moving. Not sure of the asking but I think he would take around 8K or so...

  6. At around 11:00 this morning, my brother-in-law, Dr. Jack Salomon passed on from complications of a stroke following cardiac aorta surgery. We are leaving tomorrow afternoon for Southfield MI for the funeral on Tuesday. It is a reform Jewish service which has a 3 day mourning period following the funeral and burial, but we will be leaving Wednesday as we have a minor crisis with our refrigerator to deal with. Jack had a stroke following his surgery last November and was in a nursing home showing signs of improvement but suffered a second stroke a little over a week ago. In a sense his passing was a blessing as he would never have been normal and the family has been grieving all this time. They had already been through the loss of one of their sons many years ago to a rare disease. If you are moved by this death the family only wants people to make a contribution to your favorite charity in his name.
  7. No, not me!
  8. Try splitting your fairing and clean/reseat all the connectors on the audio system. Use dielectric grease on the connector after cleaning to seal the outer edges of the connectors from moisture. Usually the electrical gremlins start out effecting the radio controller and the radio but they can also effect both the CB and the intercom via the controller...
  9. ...or maybe this picture will be a hint! Bonus points for all you can name in the picture!
  10. Ahhh! Thought they were heading back east...
  11. VMAX engines are the same basic engine as the Venture 1200, or in reality the Venture 1200 engine is a detuned VMAX engine, the big difference being the heads. The factory never put a VMAX engine in a Venture so it would have to have been a shadetree update. We all were dumb to Ventures when we bought our first...
  12. Teflon tape around the threads of the bleeder helps...
  13. Are you going to Carlsbad to see the caverns??
  14. OK 1 down, 3 to go... The date may be a hint.
  15. Try this one! Who is it? Where was it taken? What was the event? What was the "special" gift?
  16. Your MPG is low! You should be getting closer to 40! Are you sure it's running on all 4? When it's cold, start it and feel all 4 exhaust outlets to get warm almost immediately. If one is not getting warm you have a problem there. These bikes run very well on only 3 cylinders! Otherwise yes the carbs out of adjustment will make it run rough with lower MPG and it will also run hotter engine temps. Welcome aboard!
  17. No, I think Asheville in '07...
  18. Don't need them myself but I think it is a good item...

  23. Flush and bleed your master and slave (the whole system). Also check that little pinhole bleed hole on the bottom of the reservoir, it may be plugged...
  24. Yes, all '83, '84, and early '85 were affected, but many were fixed either under warranty or when the issue came about. Generally the popping out occurred before 50,000 miles. The best year for MK1's is the '85. I know of one that is for sale in Ontario, Canada as we speak. It is owned by member Marcarl and is in very good mechanical shape and the 2nd gear issue has been addressed...
  25. Wonder how many "Harley colored" ones will they sell...
