  1. That makes the most sense to me. I've spent many miles trying to imagine what I could create to put across there to hold a small bag or Mount phones in addition to my tank bag... the head of a good size bolt would fit in there and a bar could be made to cross the span easy enough but how to screw it on from both ends without having a seam in the bar would be pretty much impossible. Unless it was preset and just wedged in tight as you pushed it down the slot. Maybe that would be just too dangerous anyway... Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  2. Gorgeous! Now I have a new goal for what my old gal could look like! Also makes me jealous that you get to enjoy routine maintenance while I'm always involved in emergency surgery! Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  3. It's more rigid than my sleeping bag was. I took a really large crescent wrench and custom bent back a little bit and have the back rest itself outside of the slot for height adjustment and lowered down as far as it will go. It's better but it still holds me about 2 inch closer to my handlebars than I'm used to. Which in itself is an amazing sequential timing! I've been trying to clean my fork seals and finally after the 4th time on right side I have all leaking stopped! So now I just happened to put the backrest on today and hose it down with the neighbors power washer and since my Forks have stopped leaking I can now drain them and pull the tops off and reposition my handlebars all at the same time! Now I need to address that stinkin' shift linkage under the center to get it dialed in and I'm going to be only time and money away from making it to one of the MDs! Did you ever think you'd hear me say those words about this 83? You guys are the best encouragement and source of wisdom and comedy and weirdness! Why is my back tire literally disappearing before my very eyes after every 50 mile or hundred mile trip? I mean it wasn't an expensive Tire, a Shinko tourmaster, but front barely shows any wear? Did I mention how fast it is? This morning though, straight road up hill last 3/4 mile, no wind, 75 degrees, she maxed at 110 MPH around 5,700? Wouldn't budge above that. Like a ceiling. You can kind of see how low I have it and it's back maybe an inch from where it was prior to my adjusting it Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  4. Pulling that bent crash bar on the right side back into place was no big deal Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  5. Yeah that, to getting the Caps back on. But I've cut my spacers down to I think an inch and a quarter, I'll have to look for sure, but it lessened the preload enough that at 160 pounds I can still get the thread started on the caps Okay so here's the real deal, when I was having issues with my anti Dives earlier this year and I had them apart and rebuilt and I replace the o rings and cleaned everything up, I refilled my Forks using 5 weight oil because I thought I read someone say that's what they always use. I believe that in part with dirt caused my seals to start leaking and I have been able to get one of them to stop but have cleaned 3 times on the other and it's still wants to leak. My goal is to drain the five weight and replace it with 10. I had achieved the best ride and handling with that 5 weight and 11 pounds of air pressure and barely pre-loading the progressives with the fork is fully extended. I simply want to get back to the 10 weight to see if that will help to get that left sealed to stop leaking once I clean it again. I can't believe at 60 years old that I don't have a roll of old film or picture somewhere with film stuck in it from earlier in my life but I'm going to have to just go buy a roll of film somewhere. I used a tool I cut from a milk carton which went down in between the seal in the fork just fine but seemed excessive thick compared to what film strip would be. So I want to clean that one side really good with the film strip put in 10 weight turn the key and start going somewhere. I have managed 4000 miles now in a year and a half of working on this 83 and just enough reward to know that there's no turning back now! The other night about midnight on an unimproved Road out in the country so I can see some Stars I watched it turn over 40,000 miles. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  6. So if a guy wanted to put together the system to be able to suck the fork oil up into the fork, which I assume means without having to dismantle the tops of the fork, what would that guy need and where would he get it? Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  7. Last year I had one try to end me. I could have pulled hair out of its tail. Literally missed it by inches. I was going 60. A couple days ago I was cruising along when a raccoon decided to cross the road. I was extremely lucky that he turned to go straight up the road with me before my front wheel could hit him and I smacked him with and rolled him under my right foot board. Don't know if it killed him or not but it sure gave me a fright! Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  8. I started her up yesterday after letting her sit since the running out of gas incident. Started fine, ran great! My little dog decided that 4 a.m. was an appropriate time to start his day today. So to get even with him, I took off to ride through the sunrise and got a nice little 70-mile trip in. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk

  10. It is 87 octanae w/ethanol. Was just purchased on Saturday. I put in 2 gallons Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  11. Recorded the video before I ran out of gas. Was half a mile from my buddies acreage so he ran over and took care of me in about 15 minutes or less. Then I had my second cup of coffee on their back deck and enjoyed more of my morning. Then the bike didn't want to start and I have a bad Miss. Made the 7 miles home with no issues but now I don't know. Everything was great right up until I ran out of gas. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  12. The other day I cleaned the fork seals for the second time and both are now sealed. Today I started her just to hear her sweet voice before I mowed the lawn.. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  13. Happy Independence Day! To celebrate, my clutch is Done! Replaced with the Barnett disks. Now I seem to have a fuel leak somewhere around the carb on the #2 Cyl.. but, until or unless I blow up or become asphyxiated, I'm gonna CTFW today. Amazing how a properly functioning clutch releases the BEAST within her! Crap! Remind me to put "Rear Tire" on the shopping list will you? Be safe ya'll!
  14. These days... I bet you had your day though! ;-) Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  15. What a RIOT! And you have a name already! I took 6 weeks with my dog and ended up with Buddy! She looks eager and smart and ready to be spoiled and investigative! Time to Baby proof the house all over again! Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  16. Zoom in to see the skid mark on the bar that caused it to bend backwards. It's not loose, it gives. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  17. Yes we had so much wind last night that everything in Nebraska is standing on its side today Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  18. Do you see any reason why I couldn't pry it forward from here? It does wiggle from there but I can't really tell whether the wiggle is in the bolts the mounting places or the ends of the bars. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  19. The only adjustment seem to be laterally or side-to-side rather than front to back... Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk

  23. Job is good. Got my 5th unit delivered today since last Friday. If I can have weeks like that going forward...I'll be fine. It's either been 100 degrees or storming or both. Bike is waiting for me to borrow a clutch tool on Tuesday and fix on Wednesday. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  24. I prefer to leave my lowers off as well. Room to S-T-R-E-T-C-H! Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  25. Update time! So the bikes been sitting pretty much since I started selling cars at the beginning of June. (That's going fine but getting used to a schedule is different after being my own boss for 10 years.) Anyway, someone on here mentioned changing the oil help their clutch. I tried the same thing I used to Honda line 4 cycle oil conventional 20/50 to replace the 2050 conventional that was just automotive oil that I had in there for a couple hundred miles. The clutch started slipping with that other oil so I thought it'd be worth a shot change it to see if everything went back to normal Everything was good for about a hundred miles and then it started to slip again so I am going to have to replace the stack I'm just waiting for a gasket to show up at this point. I also was able to clean the fork seals and they stop leaking so that's cool! Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
