  1. Those are very straight "cracks" and all 3 are at same angle. They could be intentional.... Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
  2. MC show? Do tell... is it worth coming up for? (1.5 hours from peace arch) Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
  3. 29 Fahrenheit on my first ride Monday. I was finishing up the front fairing installation on the 87 I picked up a couple months ago, and with sun shining thru the shop window I knew it was test drive time. Fresh Carbs, tank, starter, clutch slave rebuilt, brakes flushed, left side cover gaskets, oil, coolant, but still had to know, is it any more than a parts bike? Got her backed out, let idle while bundle up. Smell all the fluids and cleaners burn off the collector, turn around in snowy driveway... ran great! Second gear feels solid but kept getting sporadic wheelspin. But that wasn't just in second. Oh yeah, ice.... and 14 year old Dunlop Elites. After about 20 miles and a stop for a half tank of mid grade (I know, wasted a good 25 cents), I was happy to put her away til I get the bags painted. And then took the V-max around the block.
  4. The Metzelers were like new on a parts bike but 8+ years old so I decided to use them up. Have a brand new set of Shinko 230s from another parts bike set to put on. I like the Shinkos but they wear quicker. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk

  6. That would be better than squaring off like my Metzeler has... and I do like corners. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
  7. I just sold one locally for 20 bucks. 120 is too much.... Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
  8. Yup price is right. I think my chrome set was $60 shipped. Meanwhile I have several sets of mark 2 /vmax calipers lying around. Only ever had the one rear go bad and I think the linked master caused it. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
  9. When I de-linked and installed r1 calipers out front I simply relocated a front one to the rear and bled as noted. I'm not convinced the r1 is a significantly better caliper than the mark 2's had. It is identical to what the vmax used up thru 2007. But I found a pair that had been chromed so what the heck. 10. If the oil level light doesnt come on under acceleration you arent riding it hard enough lol. They must have thought consumption might be an issue. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
  11. After 12000+ on shinko 230s I bought a parts bike with like new 8+ year old Metzeler 880s. So I swapped wheel sets to use em up last year (86 VR). 7000 miles later I am starting to see wear bars on the rear and I can hardly wait to swap back. Replaced rear 230 at 6500 miles because I had the wheel out anyway and it still had some life left. Ditto with the one I swapped the 880 for at near 6k. It'll go back on soon. 12. Seen the deluxe as low as 10k locally but didnt pull the trigger as the primary benefit would be ABS while commuting. When I got back on my 86 it still felt like a great bike... so I retired instead. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
  13. If it doesnt come on once in awhile, you aren't riding it hard enough. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
  14. A used Miata would handle far better and be cheaper. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk

  19. I love the harbor freight laser temp tool for checking multi cylinder engines like my venture. Not just whether it is hot but how hot. Last time was after a 4 month layup. I got it to start firing by tapping the carb body of the low temp cylinder with a small hammer and she came on line. That was 8000 miles ago. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
  20. Bought my first Studebaker when I was 14 and have had at least one ever since. A co-worker saw my '59 pickup and commented, that rig is retro, and I decided it would be my user name on the spot.
  21. More importantly how many can you take out and ride today? I made a commitment to only tear into one at a time, so usually at least four of the five qualify. Right now the 86 VR is apart for a fuel tank leak and scope creep is killing me... also have a vmax, a DRZ250 (plated), '83 GPz750, and the kz550 that I bought new in 1980. And do bicycles count? I see some in the pic... add 4.
