  1. Heyyyyyyyyyy,, look what the cat dragged in Tip!!!!! Welcome home and excellent report Boss!! THANK YOU for the quick post (quick? yea right,, what you wrote would have taken me 3 hours to type) on your purdy new scoot!! CAN NOT WAIT to read/hear/see more of the same!! Working? It's Labor Day weekend,,, not work time,, PLAY TIME!!! Another - "yea right" .... EVERYONE who's EVER ran a business or been self employed KNOWS that cha gotta make it happen when the possibilities present themselves!! Hope ya make a trillion bucks today out there getting it done my friend!!
  2. Ok,, more clues... Like @Freebird (I only did this Bat Signal thing with the @ symbol in Don's case cause I havebeen patiently waiting for some PICTURES and TRAIL STORIES from the lop eared new SVTC ridin varmint and = NOTHING,,, zippo,,, nada = hope your ok out there my friend!!!!) I am also one of those shrewd buyers who never pays MSRP for nuttin!! It's a flaw in my charachtor (I am a cheap varmint) but years of running the bike shop did nothing but increase this disease (that buy low/sell high and expand on the difference routine REALLY gets in your blood .. Our M.O. for purchases like this is "wait for year end sales", save your pennies cause "Cash is King", and "enjoy the purchasing experience to the fullest". So,, knowing that the model year end is upon us, model year change overs are in process BIG TIME, end of the month quota's are happening (everyone KNOWS that the last 4 days of the month are the best time to purchase) and Sales Persons are in full force and are hungry to make the inventory numbers look good and on and on = we took a pocket full of cash and went SHOPPING!!!!! All that said,,, it's brand new TO US,,, it is NOT a 2019 model,,, it IS a left over 2018 Model and it did have to be brought in from another out of state dealership as our local dealer (GREAT PEOPLE who you will meet in the next video installment cause UNLIKE some people,, I honor The Code and take PICTURES/VIDEOS!!) didnt have the right color - actually,, they didnt even have a left over in stock!!
  3. Oppsss,,, dahhhh,,, bet your talking about a Voltage Regulator/Rectifier Snype,,, sometime my brain amazes me with how slow it is... I think it was somehow thinking we were still talking about Ebaying for the new Venture and it doesnt switch gears to fast anymore (think I got a worn out detent roller or something LOL).. Anyway,,, I am still using OEM stuff.. I have swapped on parts from my parts bikes and grab junk parts too when ever I see em at our scrap yard... Not sure that I would sink to much into a used one on Ebay if it was me.. I think they are available aftermarket fairly reasonable just have no experience with any of them..
  4. Hey Snype,,, ,,,, ,,, what's an "r/r"??? Forgive me brother = I am TERRIBLE with breviatioinal stuff,, took Yammer Dan 2 years to get me taught that CTFW meant Chasing The Front Wheel
  5. One of the things I noticed when I got a peek at the internals on the new Ventures engine when we rode em out at Sturgis was that the engine they had under glass at that time did not employ roller lifters.. I know that HD has been using them for years as a stock item to mitigate wear between the cam lobes and the flat lifter bottom.. Having built numerous HD's up, I am also sure that they (HD) also offers higher grade "Screaming Eagle" roller lifters (as well as roller rockers) too and can absolutely verify that the rollers really do an amazing job of preventing wear as the lifters are riding on bearings instead of a film of oil... I know that the earlier 113's (Liners, Raiders and Strats) did employ non-rollers but I am not sure if Mom Yam or an after market source ever did come out with them.. This may be something to inquire about if you are looking for a more permentant fix...
  6. I know they are FAR from any form of the stuff suggested from "Ride Like A Pro" but a friend ask me to post something for him that may assist him years ago... I did hear back that my cheasy little suggestion vid did help some so thought I would stick it in here.. Hope it helps!! Also including one my wife and did on @videoarizona s bike this summer when he blessed us with a visit this past summer.. I/we found his Gen 2 to be just as "rideable" and did a short vid about it too = included for your benefit.. If they help = GREAT,, if they dont = toss em out with the wash
  7. :scared::scared:,,,,, WAYYYYY COOL!! CONGRATS on the new scoot brother!! Them Wings are BAD TO THE BONE when it comes to CTFW!! Wishing you and your new scoot nothing but the best in endless fun together and looking forward to some great ride reports!!
  8. @VanRiver ,,, I dont how on God's green earth I missed this (have been a little busy with Grand Kid stuff but still,, NO excuse = sorry brother!!) but WOWZY WOW WOW WOW - SHE IS A DANDY!!!!:dancefool::dancefool::dancefool::dancefool::dancefool::dancefool::dancefool: YOU DA MAN BROTHER AND ANYBODY THAT CAN RUN A "HOME FOR UNDERLOVED AND ABUSED MOTORCYCLE'S" LIKE YOU DO IS A FRIEND OF MINE FOR LIFE!!!!:clap2::clap2: Ya got a GOOD heart Riv!! Puc
  9. Yep,,, DONT EVER GIVE UP!!! That TCI I mailed you came off a running scoot (my 1st Venture) but had been shelved for many many years.. That said,, we both know from experiencing what can happen when we assume (makes an a$$ out of U and me sound familiar?) so I dont think I would do that.. It would be great if someone else had a known CURRENT good one that they could loan you just to test the one I sent you against... Another real possibility IMHO would be the trigger coils down on the flywheel... Not sure if their is a ohm test for them in the Service Manual or not.. Maybe one of the guru's like @Prairiehammer - @bongobobny or @Flyinfool would know.. I can do some diggin when I get back to my garage if one of these brainies dont chime in... Keep us posted CaptN!!!!
  10. :scared:WAYYYYYY COOL!!! Congratulations and ALL the very best in this new adVenture Boss!!!

Ok,, here we go!! :ice_congrats-vi6886:ice_congrats-vi6886:ice_congrats-vi6886:ice_congrats-vi6886:ice_congrats-vi6886:ice_congrats-vi6886 On the new scoot brother!!!!! May the all new adVENTURE you are setting out on bring nothing but the BEST OF THE BEST of fun and enjoyment!!! P.S. - Soon as ya get er broke in we are gonna have to get together and settle the elephant in the room question once and for all like videoarizona and I did about the difference in performance between the Gen 1's and the Gen 2's... Tweeks new U-Joint was in the mail today when we picked it up so she should be back together and ready to :bikersmilie: real soon Luv ya brother!! It's easier to ask forgiveness than it is to seek permission!!!! (Its The Code)

  14. Seems like just yesterday while raising our kids on 20 acres of quiet Michigan land with 6000 acres of State Land to play on that our 2nd born country girl of a daughter announced she had gotten accepted at Cornell in Manhatten and would be moving to NYC = TIP AND I KNOW EXACTLY HOW YOU AND THAT PRECIOUS BRIDE OF YOURS FEEL THERE MY TEXAS HERO BROTHER,,, definitely hard watching em sprout wings and fly off in search of fulfilling their dreams!! Prayers Up for that youngen and for you folks as you all face these exciting, but somewhat frightening, times!! On the same token = wayyyy cool Dylan!!! Your ol Uncle Puc livin in Michigan aint gonna be much help if ya have a flat tire or you need immediate attention BUT,,,,,, I LOVE that city - it IS an amazing place and wish nothing but the best for you young man!! "The Big Apple" has it all,,, the fun part is finding the treasure you seek in all that endless opportunity = Godspeed in locating exactly the treasure you seek Dylan!! Lean on the Lord when times get dicey (stay away from the alternative coping methods) and all will be fine!! GO GET EM CHAMP!! Puc
  15. Well,, at least I found out what happened!! By the way,,, if you hate working on bikes and are bored to death with this little mini series but have always wondered what riding in a side car is like,,,,, well,,,, lets just say that you may find Pt 6 here a little more insightful LOL
  16. Hearing that my friend!!!!! I also LOVE pawing around in the Cowboy collectables... I have a couple HD riding neighbors here at our part time homej (least it seems that way,,, right now in the process of getting the KIA ready headin back west to rock-a-bye that new grandson when he FINALLY decides to join the fun - just stuck in new wheel bearings on the cars back side = 190k on the old ones so it was time ) on the Lake Shore that I ride with who I LOVE to shoot handguns with too - we carry our shooters on our bikes for those Shoot n Scoot shoot out events!!! Our "M.O." as geezer buddies is what ever we do we go all out in a competitive way..... Well,,, while walking thru the classic Cowboy section of that tourist trap on the prairie - some throwing knifes caught my eye!! Couldnt help be bring three sets of those Wall Drug flying blade souveniers home = the local competition between buddies continues:biker:!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. Heyyyyyy,,,,, wassup Dogman!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the welcome home brother,,, same to you folks as I think I read you and the lovely better half did the NY Rally = wish I coulda joined you folks for yet another AWESOME time with friends!! Tweeks is gonna be ok I think.. She is still in pieces (got a U-Joint ordered - should be here Monday) but it looks like the only real damage from her hard landing was a cracked bearing boss on the U-Joint that caused some premature, very heavy and heated wearing on a bearing due to the odd angle the cracked and bent boss ended up at... Tell ya one thing brother,,, could have DEFINITELY been worse!!! there's not more damage internally on her motor cause this beat up old, twisted old lop eared CTFW varmint aint no way - no how gonna pull a motor = would be time to find yet another of Tweeks family members to tortur,,, I mean adopt ... Hope all is well with the Dogman family my brother!! to all!!!! Puc
  18. Ahh ohh,,,, final drive and drive shaft look great!!! No easy fix here = RATSSSS!!
  19. Gotta watch out for those spots where the pavement buckles under the intense heat of the western sky on the Ick-Spressway.. Hittin one of those puppies can toss a fully loaded touring bike with two riders higher than Larocco's Leap at Red Bud MX track can toss a KX500!!!!
  20. Thanks for the welcome home Sly - that is greatly appreciated!! Kenda 777,, ,,, dont remember that one,,, you mean a Shinko 777 ,,,,, ,, dont matter,,, either Kenda or Shink = just glad to hear you got new shoes on er and they are workin great!!! Chasing those lop eared suthin varmints on those roads down yonder is DEFINITELY a good testin ground regardless of which brand your runnin
  21. My touring bikes have carried a Wall Drug sticker on em for,,, well,, for what seems like FOR EVER.. Back when my son "P-Dog" (actually earned this biker name when he was 8 years old - had did his required 3 days in the saddle that showed he had earned the privilage of having a biker name and thats when the two of aboard my 1st Venture landed at the East Gate of the Badlands N.P. where he fell in love with Prairie Dogs). During that time frame, Wall Drug was still a yearly/favored quick stop for their free ice water (we snuck packets of lemon juice and sugar from the cafeteria to make cup after cup of free Lemon Aid = when life gives ya lemons and all that ) and the main attraction for my boy and I was shootin Aliens in the video game machine in the Back Yard and making the targets chime in the Back Yards "Shootin Gallery".. Wall Drug was also where my oldest daughter "Awahoo" (the one who is ready to pop out my next grandson ANYDAY) discovered a song by Micheal Murphy while goofing around pushing buttons with a head set on and searching thru music that is titled "Cowboy Logic".. She yelled at me across the store and, with tears in her eyes,, said "DAD!! This song should be titled "Cowpuc Logic" cause it says it all!!" Still makes me cry when I hear it and think of her saying that!! I often have people question my continued love for this, admittedly,,, trail side tourist trap found at the journeys end on the West Gate of the Badlands.. What those folks probably dont know is that Wall Drug of Wall S.D. offers a seemingly endless collection of displayed Cowboy and Native American photography = something to behold I tell ya!! Tweeks KNOWS that Tip and I WILL always stop to continue our endless search thru these volumes and volumes of precious history.. Having long ago lost the responsibilities associated with having to keep an eye on the kids,, we can now devote endless hours of pure pleasure in rediscovering the REAL western U.S. and relive what those early settlers of our amazing nation went thru in their pursuit to bring us a settled nation..
  22. If you take the time to view this video I am sure you will agree with me that this place is nothing short of AMAZING!!! The quarry's at Pipestone are outright BREATH TAKING!!! The thought that for centuries, warring tribes of the Indian Nations would drop their grievances and come together as a people to come to this one place on the planet that offers the perfect "Pipe Stone" for making peace pipes!! What an amazing place!!!
